My daughter started reading at 2. When she started school, she had a hard time adjusting but her teachers worked with her. When she moved to a different school, it's a different story. I tried to talk to her teacher and meet her half way but, apparently, giving my child a workbook for higher grades wasn't allowed because it's not fair for other children. It was very frustrating. They want my kid medicated. I pulled her out and started homeschooling her. Now, she's back in public school but a different school. School is great. Teachers love her. Amazed, even. I'm glad that she's having fun and learning more.

Awesome information! My 24 month old has been doing jigsaw puzzles without even looking at pictures since she was 16/18 months old. Knew her abc’s ( not recited but the actual symbols) at 16 months old. Colors at 12 months, shapes at 13 (even complex ones) and counted to 40 by 18 months! She now knows all the planets some major organs and bones in the body and all continents!! It’s really hard to keep up with her

Everyone writing in this post think their kids are gifted. It’s is supposed to be a 2% of the population and it seems they are all commenting here The greatest brains of the history were not called gifted in childhood and didn’t received speacial education. That’s what made them gifted, that their intelligence was like that much that they didn’t need tutoring or specialist to guide them. All the opposite, they guided specialist and science. There are many very very smart kids but they are still not “gifted”. Those smart kids and even the ones who are not considered smart also change the world and also create new technologies and paths that change humanity. I don’t like to get obsessed with those terms.

Thanks for the video. My son is turning 2 on the 25th. He is bilingual. Speaks english and spanish. By 13 months, he knew that you talk to mom in spanish and daddy in english. What facinates me is his ability to recite a complete book (as much as 20 pages) after we read it to him a few times. He recited the complete "polite elephant" by Richards Scurry, Tootle by Getrude Crampton and The sleepy book by Margret Wise Brown by the time he was 16 months old. He Identifies over 600 items in English and Spanish from the Firefly Visual Dictionary (his favourite and calls it "the big book of wonders") and can relate different animals just by looking at them. Tell him something once, and he wont forget it. Last night, we where stunned when he said "the solar system is in the milky way galaxy. Daddy, lets go read the planets book and see how many jupiters are in the galaxy". A few days earlier, I asked him what the biggest animal was. He went into this explanation that lasted like 2 minutes and then ended it by saying, Borosaurus or blue whale choose one. Stunned, I said, what is the biggest animal today. He said in a high tone. "African elephant" with a smile like Daddy I know that!. Although I work from home and spend a significant time teaching him, I often wonder what how he is able to process and retain a lot of information. The down side is he doesn't like hanging out with kids and takes EVERY THING apart and that can be annoying.

A gifted child will be gifted in most things not just one,this is my experience in having a gifted child, they will learn to perfect anything that interest them,and when theyve got to a stage were they think theyve got it perfect,then they will move on to something else and do same again.My son didnt learn anything at school,he was the classroom idiot that stopped other kids learning because he was a torment, everything he was good at he taught himself, and when i say he was good im talking an adult good,He started liking michael jackson and within 2 weeks he was dancing exactly the same as michae himself, every step, every hand movement and expression, so if he watched a MJ video he would only have to watch the video 3-4 times and hes perfected it.I bought him a guitar and after 3 months he was playing apache by shadows,another brick in wall,fever ect ect, i couldnt believe it because i never really heard him practicing any of them which was weird to me as i knew if i had tried to do same then would take me years to learn that, there was lots of stuff, unbelievable, hes 21 now and breaking my heart because hes taking the wrong road in life.....thats why i feel a gifted child is one that you dont have to teach them because they teach themselfs...

My daughter’s father and a family friend think my daughter is gifted. I think she is like this video said gifted in certain areas. Thank you for the tips. I will encourage and make sure she has a sweet spot of being challenged just enough.

My daughter is speaking in sentences since 16 months but was speaking a lot way before that. It’s like she’s like a three year old and she’s not even two. Everywhere we go people are like how old is she???!! She doesn’t sleep well. She’s a leader she wants to lead everything. She does puzzles. I stay home with her and I’m a teacher and I do everything to nurture her as much as I can. I want to learn more and do all I can. I may put her in a French school. My daughter is in 2nd grade now, and I knew from the moment she turned 9 months that she was a different from other kids her age. By 18 months she could speak in complete sentences, knew how to mixed primary colors to make secondary colors. She was reading harry potter books by the end of kinder, she is now fluent in English and Spanish (read, write and speak), she is learning Chinese and dutch. Hates math but knows her multiplications (1-12) just because one day she was bored and decided she wantes to learn them. She is now reading at 6th grade level, and doing math at 4th But school wont to anything not until she gets tested in 3rd grade.

my son was a gifted drawer in little school, his drawings were like a grown ups but tht was just the start,in no time he was doing allsorts, he would watch michael jackson dance just a few times witin in 3 weeks he was doing the dance as good as MJ, then he went to body poppin and was spinning on his head within 2 weeks again like a grown up,then came magic, again he got that good grown-ups were taking him all over showing his tallent,he was drawing crowds,and earning money,i bought him a guitar, it was stood in corner of room for months before he even picked it up, but when he did, within 3 months he was playing shadows and elvis ect unbelievable, i thought he had to be gifted

My older sister and I were in the “gifted” program in school. She was really good at drawing and so was I. Although I didn’t like it, I won a contest in 4th grade. I taught myself how to play guitar at age 12. My dad played a couple notes and I just played them back. Was always good at math. And now he thinks my son is really smart, possibly gifted. Grammar and punctuation always made sense to me and I never knew how other kids got it wrong on questions. Not showing off cause a lot of other people in the comments have kids that sound smarter than mine lol I came here because my son has already met all the two year old milestones and he turns two this month. Gonna check the threee year old milestones now lol Update: yeah all three year old milestones are met as well.

I have two gifted children. And Im really anxious thinking about whether the are getting the right education here in Turkey.

My grandson was not even 3 and used to speak English as a first language..was able to make intricate patterns using blocks when he hadn't completed even 2...hindi is our first language yet his command over English is commendable..the usage of words and quality of expression is outstandingly good ..very inquisitive child he is with extraordinary memory, incredible sense of logic ,attention and understanding .(i always check it while narrating stories)but what worries me and others at home is his reluctance to write..he hates writing..he is a 5years and 8 months old child..yet finds it difficult to write three letter oor four letter words..he is extremely playful ..what should I take it as...a gifted child or a child who needs special attention..

My son learned his animal sounds, shapes and many things from educational tv. He is almost 3. I think he is gifted but my fiance has been sick unable to teach him she is recovering from a long illness but I an wondering if him learning all that from tv if he is gifted. I cut work hours to be able to work with him more. Any advice

My son could do 100 piece puzzles when he was 3 and could count way beyond 1000 and perform mental addition in math. Now he is 4 , can read analog clocks and calculate time difference of different countries mentally. He performs complex multiplication and addition mentally. ( yesterday he did 77*40=3080) something i had to verify using a calculator. All this he does on his own and we have never pushed him for anything. As parents, what can we do to support and nurture his talent? We live in Australia, and my son will start his school in 6 months (when he is 5) Should we be doing anything different?

If you have a child who seems to you to be a bit more intellectually advanced for his/her age, the best way to destroy any possibility of future success is to constantly pound it into his/her head that he/she is far superior to everyone else -- especially his/her teachers. You'll eventually have an unemployable, useless, purposeless adult child that you'll need to care for and financially support for the rest of his/her life.

Why do you separate children .i mean like every child is gifted it’s just the lack of attention they get and how react to there learning process,for instance some students like act funny or act stupid when there not.in other words every student is gifted and has so many potential to be successful it’s just the way a teacher or person see there child.so never say your child is not smart in of.you should always support your child in what they want and what their fighting for.btw I’m not a parent I’m a 14yr old just giving my opinion👊🤔

My child is black and gifted but it took the school longer to identify him. I think it was a race thing for sure. He only got in because his test scores were either 95% or 99th percent. They were saying he was doing to well although he was bored with straight As. They said he was too well adjusted for years. They take the kids with behavioral concerns due to boredom.

So someone said that they wanted a gifted child, So I put one in a box and wrapped it. Apparently that's not what they meant...
