one doubt, with a thermal pad of 80x40 will be enough to cover both parts of the VRM?

Should be fine, just mark where you will cut it and check will it be enough.

If I were to use 1mm thick pads for both the vrms and memory chips, would it still work?
@LaptopDisassembly

I doubt. The gap on the thinner ones will become bigger so it is not a good idea.

my VRAMs use 0.5 pads, but my VRMs use 1.0 and it would be quite expensive to buy both, will there be problems if I use 0.5 in both?
@LaptopDisassembly
@LaptopDisassembly Год назад
They are different because the high of the VDM and memory is different. If you use same size for both, one of them will not have a proper cooling because the gap will be bigger.

Every card uses different thickness of the pads.If you use 1.5mm for the vrms, than you should use 1mm for the memory, otherwise there will be a gap, and the cooling will get worse.

Amazing video!!! Have you tried copper shims instead of thermal pads for mining? Apparently it works amazing but i am wondering if you have tried it or if you know anyone who has tried it
@LaptopDisassembly
@LaptopDisassembly 2 года назад
I use them often on laptop GPU. Just apply small amount of paste on both sides ot the pads and put the cooler. You need to have paste between every layer.
@Saywhatohno
@Saywhatohno 2 года назад
@@LaptopDisassembly you mean on the copper shins right? Or you haven’t used copper shins?
@LaptopDisassembly

Yes I have use them... They increase cooling performance. But you have to be careful with the thickness. The normal pads can be flatten a bit by the cooler, while the copper ones no, so just be careful with the thickness.

To clean the graphics chip, you could have used a soft toothbrush instead of using a cotton swab, when it opens there is a plate where the graphics chip is, you have to open it, not removing the screws at once, unscrew them in X and at the end you will hear a popping sound, this popping and there is pressure from the PCB being released correctly, this prevents you from cracking the DAI of the graphics chip, in the assembly and there is the same thing, put the screws and then tighten it making an X, that and for any video card !!
@LaptopDisassembly
@LaptopDisassembly Год назад
If I use a toothbrush it makes a bigger mess. About the screws I tide them on X but not at max... Usually 50% and after I put all I repeat and tide max. For about 15 years I haven't god a cracked dai. Bit thanks for the tips
