If you are in the mood for some giant plate lunches look no further than Ige's Kitchen. They local Hawaiian style plate lunches at very affordable prices in Honolulu, Hawaii. In this video I got a chance to try their bbq beef tips, Korean chicken, kalua long rice, and corn beef. All were very good tasting proteins especially the bbq beef tips. I highly recommend this place if you want a lot of cheap good tasting food!

@@AuthenticallyCharles I went to Ige's for the first time this past Tuesday and got 2 plates, the Korean Fried Chicken and the BBQ Beef Tips (since I remembered this video so vividly about the beef tips and that laugh after taking the first bite) ...man, the BBQ Beef Tips were so ono, I have it declared it the best tasting plate lunch entree I have ever eaten *in my life* !!!

I enjoy Joes Grill Express when in Honolulu. Its next to the airport. Huge variety of plate lunches, and daily specials for under 10 bucks. The moco loco was amazing!

Lol. Binge watching you and saw you liked Ige's Lunchwagon in 2020. Glad you made it there and found out what all of us in the Pearl City, Waimalu, and Aiea area have known for years about Ige's. Their andagi is my favorite no matter what I get for lunch. Check out Button Up Cafe in Pearl City for their stuffed French toast and braised shortrib dishes..but eat it right away and Kabuki's Okazuya in the strip mall across Kam Hwy from Ige's.

Aloha Charles, Born and raised in Hawaii and I miss the ono grinds whenever I am back on island Iges is my spot. They give lots of food super big portions I always ask for extra onions. I can never finish their plate and eat it later for dinner. If you dont get there early enough they sell out fast. I was drooling the whole time when you were eating. Keep eating and I'll keep watching from the mainland. Mahaloz for sharing.

the last time I had the corned beef, they served it shredded, so disappointing. (Ige's) they should open later than 1pm. how are we supposed to "support local" when places close so early?

I would be disappointed too if all my corned beef was shredded like that. I always wondered too why some places close so early. There is this one garlic chicken place thats pretty good but they are only open 4 days a week for 4 hours or something like that. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Great vlog. I go out to the islands once a year with my 90 yr old Mom for many years now, so you've given us some new ideas of places to try out. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, we can't go out this year, but hopefully Dec 2021 we will be able to. Mahalo.

@@AuthenticallyCharles Aloha! We enjoy seafood and also various types of Asian food (Chinese, Thai, etc), especially dim sum. We hope that most of the local/family run restaurants will still be open when we are out there next, so sad to hear that Like Like Drive Inn closed earlier in the year :( With tourists now being allowed to visit Hawaii, hopefully that will help with giving a lot of business to these restaurants and keep them open.

Just found your channel and enjoying your videos. It's been 10 long years since I visited Hawaii. How is Zippy's food in your opinion? I thought it was pretty good back then. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for the support! I hate to say it, but in my opinion zippys has gone down hill. I feel the quality of the food isn't as good as what it used to be, and the prices have gone up with smaller serving sizes. But a good thing I do like about zippys is that whenever I cannot find any food to eat they are always an easy back up plan for odd hours haha.

Enjoy your trip to Honolulu! Unfortunately most places aren't open as late anymore since covid. I looked up Mac 24/7 and they close at 9:30pm, they used to be 24 hours. There is Zippy's on Kapahulu, they close at 10pm but its take out only. Rainbow Drive In closes at 9pm take out only. Hope that helps. Thank you so much for supporting my channel I really appreciate it! As for March 2021. I am not sure. Right now Hawaii has pretty low numbers compared to the rest of the USA but I'm not sure if we will shut down again in the Islands. I do know they are talking about the vaccine in the USA but not sure when they will put it out. Best to keep your eye on the news in my opinion. But I do think prices will be cheap for awhile at the hotels. I'll look into some Hawaiian culture videos or places to visit in Hawaii thank you for the suggestion I really appreciate it!

Iges!! Same owner as masa’s in Mapunapuna and iges in Halawa valley! But I the harbor court location gives the most, they make the famous andagi masa give a good amount also but not as much, halawa is a regular plate lunch in size. I think same family but different families run different locations
