Kobe was definitely influential, no doubt about it. You can put him up there in the Top 5 but he was not the most influential. The game of basketball was not played differently during or after his era.
@astheskylarksings
@astheskylarksings Месяц назад
@@randomando4470 The mentality of some of the young people changed. Remember how Kobe couldn’t stand Dwight Howard’s mentality or even Shaq’s. He viewed them as soft. Kobe influenced Book’s 70. I think Luka is another person influenced by Kobe. That meanness. And even Lebron, does he win another chip without Kobe’s influence? In the culture, people shoot into waste baskets saying the dude’s name. Then there’s China. There’s also the shoes-every player’s favorite shoe. Then there’s Rucker Park. Crazy that I didn’t even like Kobe like that but here I am campaigning for him 😅

@@astheskylarksings I agree with everything you're saying, I was definitely a fan growing up. I definitely consider him Top 5 but it's tough when you have two people that ushered in two new styles of basketball. The kids went from chucking up bricks saying "KOBE" to chucking up 40 footers thinking they're Steph 😂. In my list, I'd go Steph, MJ, AI, Magic (because him and Bird saved the NBA), then probably Kobe. But there are no wrong answers honestly. All behemoths.

Iverson being small guard but with the pace and scoring ability changed the game and thats perhaps why nowadays in many teams the guard is the primary scorer. Then Steph's shooting ability and more importantly his gravity has completely altered the spacing, coverages, etc. and more importantly, the game is played differently because of those 2. Kobe on the other hand was great, but we had already seen that style (in MJ) so it didn't bring a change in tactics.
