There should be some type of point system for the HOF. For example: You need 50 points to get in the HOF MVP = 5 pts Ring = 4 pts Finals MVP = 3 pts All NBA = 2 pts All Star = 1 pt All Defense = 1 pt All time stat record = 7 pts I’m just throwing numbers out there, but I think that would make the selections more objective rather than it being based on just how the voters feel

ALL of them are either already in the Hall of Fame, or are shoo-in future HOFers. Carter also ranks #9 on the all-time 3-point scorers list (80% of the Top 10 is either in the HOF, or shoo-in future HOFers), while Gil is nowhere in the Top 50. Unlike Gil, Carter also has an Olympic medal (gold). Blake was on a HOF trajectory his first five seasons then his body broke down and he was no longer as explosive. But from his 2010-2015 he was legit elite. I think he even finished 3rd in MVP voting behind KD/LBJ in 2014.

Norris Cole. I usually agree w you but you said AI bumps up to silver because he had four scoring titles and one mvp but Isaiah Thomas got a finals mvp and two rings. Can’t expect every great player to get an mvp. Tatum just averaged 30, 8, 4 on 64% Ts. Last season Essentially the same stats as SGA this season…and he wasn’t even considered for mvp because he had to face Giannis Jokic mvp Luka in that race

Giannis won 2 MVPs before he even turned 26. Only Kareem and Lebron have done that. He got a ring without having to jump ship on his team and got the Finals MVP. He’s consistently top 10 in points and rebounds every year if not top 5, while also being a top tier defender. He’s so dominant it’s under appreciated now because it’s common place.

In 5-10 years, all NBA players will care way more about their own stats/awards more than winning... You can even see some of it today. Certain players are fine with losing on the biggest stage as long as they meet/beat their stat line just for their next contract or to avoid getting bashed by the media. Can't blame them, but the hunger to win and hunger for competition will exit the NBA sooner than later.

The NBA needs to implement something similar to the Australian NRL which has the hall of fame (110 players) but then another tier above that where those players are called Immortals (only 13 players)

The HOF does not equal an absolute ranking of the best players to have played. Its the pioneers and tastemakers (the people you couldnt tell the history of basketball without).

My gold is: PG- Magic, Steph, Isaiah SG- MJ, Kobe, West SF- Bron, KD, Bird, Erving PF- Duncan, Giannis, Malone C- Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Olajuwon, Russell There's a rose gold for guys like Jokic, AI, CP3, KG, Wade, etc.

Have an outside entity create the tier requirements. Then the current NBA HOFmers can modify the tier requirements. Once agreed by the HOFmers the tiers are set n apply to them as well. From that point on only the HOFmers vote for induction. In order to be inducted you have to receive 80% approval of ALL HOFmers. Whichever is the highest tier where you receive 80% approval is the tier you’re inducted into.

Ranking players all-time should be done using some sort of system. A weighted system. NBA finals mvp is worth 5 points. NBA ring is 4. Regular season mvp 3. 2 points for APOY, DPOY, ROY and Season stat leader gets 1 points. Total each player’s points based on that system and them rank it. Something along those lines would be good when comparing different eras.

That's why they have numbered "BALLOTS " right? You have your GREATS that are for sure first ballot HOFers. Then you have players like Blake that should be more like 3rd or 4th ballot!! So it takes them multiple list before they entered!!

ESPN ranked Blake the 75th best player of all time in 2016. In his prime he was and would be a top ten player in any era. He single-handedly turned the clippers into a real team from his rookie season onwards, there would be no kawhi, pg13, probably no new stadium being built if they hadn’t drafted Griffin. Even if they had the foresight to draft curry(which no one would’ve #1 overall at the time) curry still would’ve taken too long to come into his own to stave off being mangled by the clippers ineptitude

Blake Griffin Resume is equal to or just as good as Chris Webbers and C-Webb in the Hall of Fame. Blake Griffin definitely one of the top Power Forwards of the 2010’s

To me honestly. You got to have at least two to three all nba or all defensive teams, be an all star selection at least once or twice. Lead the league or the team in one of the 3 major stats and at least been to the conference finals or nba finals once in they career

Absolutely. If you didn't change the game and weren't iconic, no hall of fame for you! Hall of fame is for those who can't be replaced or wont' be seen again: Jordan, Bird, Magic, Curry, Lebron, etc. That top 100 list they made recently is about all there should be in the HOF.
