This animation pretty well shows the difference between the old RHG fights and the new Dojo Duels; that being stakes. A duel feels like a more friendly fight, you knock the opponent out and that’s that, the old Rock Hard Gladiators earned their fame and reputation by walking over the corpses of their opponents. While it was true that several fighters would let you live, more often than not a fight would end with one opponent dead.

Quite a lot of OG references made this even more heart warming yet breaking when you remember their stories as well and how time has aged them.

I honestly just love how the song picked, "Rock ain't dead" can relate to stone since a stone is a type of rock. And how it says that Rock ain't dead, it might also mean that the RHG will never die and live on in the hearts of the animators or the characters. And the small details at 7:04 and 7:06 is just amazing.

My introduction to the stickpage community was through two of my favorite games: 1) Rock Hard Coliseum by Stone 2) Slush Invaders by Gildedguy And my first RHG was Chuck vs Alfa. This video pays homage to everything I have ever loved about RHG and gives the character of Andre a tragic story and a fitting end all at once. While paying tribute to other animators like Nhazul and other significant events like Alfa vs Umbrella. Gildedguy you have truly outdone yourself!! And it goes without saying that this is now my favorite animation on stickpage.

Gildedguy doesn't miss, that was fire 🔥

On the OG vid somebody said that in the flying portion of the vid Arzon and GG turn into their heroes. Atfirst I was like 'Well they do take their poses' but at about 7:03 I slowed it quarter speed out of curiosity and DUDE Arzon for a brief sec turns into Nhazul and GG turns into FLFFL like it happens for like a single frame but it's such a nice touch. Gildedguy continues to be next level as always.

Something I noticed with Story 7 is how Gildedguy used colour to help portray the emotions and stakes of what’s currently happening, and the characters that he’s portraying. For the first two “acts” of the fight, he switches between a much more rosy palette and a much more beige palette. You can see this clearly through scenes like when GG first arrives at the colosseum. I see these palettes as a way to demonstrate GG’s wonder and admiration for what he’s in and experiencing. For example, while he’s admiring the statues of past fighters (1:20 - 1:27) and the grandeur of the colosseum (1:52), the rosy palette is used. However, once he’s focussing on other things (eg. Arzon at 2:00), it switches to the beige palette, as he’s not currently infatuated with his surroundings, and is thinking about other stuff. Once the fight with Andre begins, the palette switches to rosy, and I see this as both GG and Arzon’s excitement and determination to fight Andre (one of their heroes), and to protect the colosseum, and the history of RHG which they love. Later on, once Andre destroys the statue of Nhazul, it switches back to the beige palette, to show how Arzon and GG now are being hit with the realization that they are in deep, and this fight isn’t going to end anytime soon. Something else I want to point out, is that when throwing Andre’s lightning back at him (4:29), GG’s eyes change their design slightly. They go from simple green, to green with white iris and green pupil. This is also the design for the eyes of the Green Eyed Cowboy, which is seen by most as a representation of GG’s ambition and desires. I think the reason GG used this eye design here, is to highlight GG’s determination to protect Arzon, the colosseum, and to defy Andre’s wishes to destroy the colosseum. After Andre throws his hammer to destroy the colosseum for good, and GG charges at him alone (5:43), the palette goes under another change. It seems to be a less saturated, more red palette. The main giveaway for this (for me), was GG’s sword, as this is the first time in the animation that it’s coloured red, as it normally is. It gets even less saturated once GG’s eyes get the red blood drop in them, which others in the comments have seen as a representation of Andre’s desire to destroy his legacy; almost like his own version of GG’s star. What gets rid of this blood drop in GG’s eye is very interesting to me. He sees a vision of Alfa flying on his sword, and the blue exhaust turning into a blue version of GG’s star, in his eye. I see this as; Alfa’s exhaust: What he leaves behind, ie. his legacy, inspiring Gildedguy in a way that he has never been before. It’s similar to his normal star (hence the shape), but is inspired from something else (hence the colour). As Gildedguy and Arzon fly into the clouds, the colours and art style change into a more paintbrush-y style (6:42). I see this as the representation of the adrenalin they are experiencing from the insanity and stakes of the situation: Flying through the clouds, on a sword, to stop one of your heroes from destroying his own legacy. This is further exacerbated, with the colours being turned up to 15, once GG gets his pen back (6:53), as now some of the stakes are gone: One of his primary goals, reacquiring his pen, has been completed. And all they have left is to stop Andre.

Man, this shit rules. I'm not long enough of a fan of stickfight animations to recognize the fighters on display here, but it's clear they're all held up as legends for a reason, Andre chief among them. I don't think it's a surprise to have someone look at the bloodshed left in the wake of their legacy and wish to see it all gone. But it's clear Andre was too bitter to see all of the good these fights did, too. Good thing he had just the right opponents to help him move past his hate. What a fight, what a story. Keep doing what you do, Gilded.

I still remember umbrella, and even yupia . That one animation everyone held beloved for the one armed rocket sword guy. I still remember the nemesis collab that never saw it’s end, our knife/staff wielding animatriss who went on to be the queen of the glitchiest tale. I remember so much and yet know so little. And still the animation brings tears to my eyes. Make your legends. Cause they are bound forever till the day the internet goes offline.

I lived to see this, and cry for it. Really cried, the moment Gildedguy entered the coliseum and started remembering the old ones... I'm glad to Gildedguy for that. My childhood was filled with the golden age of this stickman fights and animations; I'm so happy I could live it all in my skin, when these legends were alive and on focus. I never stoped following this community, I never stoped loving stickfigure animations, but ya know... If you got old like me, and you're no child nor teenager anymore, you know how today things just seem a little off for us. I'm not saying the current animators and series are bad, not at all. It's just... They don't seem as something made for me anymore. Not like this video. Not like the old RHG fights, with FLLFFL being my favorite. Not like the time when Red was fire, Xiao Xiao, Joe Zombie, TheBigWhiteGun, and so many others legendary animations and animators were releasing. I don't like to be the old dude who lives in nostalgia, but I can't help to feel that way.

The homage to the legendary Alfa and others like hyun and Nahzul back in the day almost puts a tear to my eye reminiscing about the old times of stick animation absolutely amazing animation

I get it now. Andre is ashamed. Ashamed of the RHG of the blood it's split angry at the friends he's lost because of it. That's why he's going around destroying the RHG coliseums the mementos all of it. He doesn't want the future generation to worship murderers so he sets out to kill it's legacy to destroy his own creation.
