Gildeguy feels so human and alive among all the characters I've seen on here. That mental battle between him and Bog really tells me a lot about him. Truly, GildedGuy is the invincible knight.

I feel like all the other animators doing these stick fights can learn a lesson from Gildedguy. True, his animations are way more in depth than most people are capable of creating, and that's just practice that most people won't be able to replicate through no fault of their own, but he also makes sure to focus his battles on the other character just as much as his own character. I feel like this is the Bog ABC has in their mind when they designed the character, and everything about Bog here is just so creepy and horrifying. Everything about the way Gildedguy is fighting screams, "What the heck is this and why is it after me, get it away from me now!" In the end, good characters is what makes a good animation, even in fight scenes, and this has amazing characters.

I'd like to address the fact that Gildedguy doesn't win. He survives.

Fun fact: It took Michael (Gildedguy) 9 months to make this.

That part where the armor began to put itself back together gave me chills...

Yupia and Bog was featured in this with one small frame, if you go to 5:44 at 0.25 speed, you'll see a frame where bog enters yupia.

Interesting. We go from Bog being indestructible in body to GildedGuy being indomitable in spirit. Has a bit of an immovable object/unstoppable force vibe to it. Based on the other videos about him (including and especially Invincibility Knight) unbreakable determination is starting to look like a defining trait of GildedGuy, and I love it.

Jeez there is too much detail in this lol Anyone else notice at 5:41 that when Bogs energy attack hits GG in the chest it makes points of light that mimic the star GG is looking at and 5:42 it turns into the form of a heart and shatters? Then there is the amazing Yupia and Bog vs Syn and Hue Easter egg someone else pointed out that happens shortly after that when Bog jumps on top of him.

Gildedguys animations have been some of my favorites, especially this one since the fight isn't all hack and slash, it's also a mental battle between the two.

Out of practically every single animated fight I've ever seen, this gave me the most chills.

Bog is terrifying, and I was really worried for guildedguy going into this, but that whole "battle in the mind" bit, where bog literally can't do anything and eventually has to just calm down, sit down, and relax itself, was gold. (pun intended) and while character development for BOG of all fighters wasn't what I was expecting going into this, I am so glad it happened because this fight was sick!.

Okay, so the other guys in the comment section make good sense, but I would like to just take a moment and say that none of this is actually what the creator said or meant. This animation is an interpretative piece. Exact reasons and facts are ambiguous at best. Though, if we are asking opinions on what happened? Below is what I think. Kay. So, I will freely admit that I don't know enough about Gilded to understand the Teal Marker's significance, nor why he sought out the "star" that bared a likeness to it's icon. I've seen it in the previous story anims and don't understand it's purpose. I believe it will be made clear in time, if these continue. That said, satisfied that he found his way thus far, Gilded took a rest. However, taking in his surroundings, he realized that it may have been a sketchy place to be relaxing in. He tried to calm himself by humming to himself by the campfire, able to stave off his paranoia for a little while. The growing dark around him was his paranoia settling in. When it began to escalate, he began to wonder, noticing his sword and his reflection. In the light of the campfire, it looked strange to him. He peered closer and closer... and focused... And he saw his reflection, only it didn't look as relaxed as he believed he was, his mind playing tricks on him. Instead... he was terrified. And in "seeing" that, his relaxation was broken. He began to want for his friends-- someone who could keep him calm and keep him from feeling so very alone, but what he saw was everyone leaving him and forsaking him... His hands crawling to them reflects how badly he needed help. And finally, the darkness engulfed him... and he was all alone, no one to help him... His vanishing in a puff of smoke was his inability to see himself getting out of this place alive. He shakes his head to rid these accursed thoughts, confused as to why he saw what he did, or refusing to understand it... Looking at his sword, he gets frustrated and turns away, but it's still standing, meaning he could look back at any moment and see his reflection yet again. So he took and threw it on the ground. bad choice. Bog attacks and catches him off guard. He's frightened and confused, panicking as bog goes on the attack and tries to consume his sword to make it easy, but quick action allows Gilded Guy to swipe his weapon away and attack! Much of what follows is straight-forward, so I'll skip it. Toward the end, as Gilded is tired and out of ideas, he slumps and momentarily gives in, allowing Bog to corrode him over until his armor ran over with his form's gunk. Gilded looks to his sword, still stabbed into the ground and Bog once again attempting to consume it. When he sees his reflection, he is confused yet again to see how calm he is... and finally understands what he sees. His inner self. And so, he struggles to his sword... and cuts his hands, allowing Bog into his body. The following that occurs once Bog is inside is the struggle for either control or a mental battle. Bog intends to inflict total despair upon his target before he eats him. However, no matter how hard Bog beats his spirit down, he can't seem to break it. Instead, Gilded always bounces back and seems to see no reason to fight, instead offering a peaceful resolution to their fight. Bog can't understand this, confused and angry that he can't seem to break his opponent like he always does. He once again strikes Gilded Guy with all his force and power, only to suddenly be getting "consumed" himself, something he couldn't accept. He uses all his might to break free as Gilded's armor broke off, leaving Bog angry and afraid. That was what he wanted to do to him and he didn't like it when he nearly became victim to his own desire. Looking around and on high alert, as Gilded Guy reassembled himself behind him, Bog immediately saw him and glared down at him. Something tells me that, when Gilded closes his eyes and just sat there, he said something that needed no words. "And now, you understand how I feel right now. Not pleasant, is it? So, how about we just stop?" Begrudgingly, Bog get's the point and just sits down with him. A moment passes and two of Bog's uh... drips(?) seem to be there as well. As Gilded "extinguishes", this surprises them as much as it confuses them. They might have been of differing minds, so the didn't understand what their master did. Shortly after, Bog too "extinguishes", possibly signifying him leaving the body... ... As Gilded awakens, he's pained, broken, his armor is a mess of crushed parts... but he's free and alive. Bog leaves in the form of small streams of goo slithering in the grass to avoid the sun, as the sun is a natural weakness. And that's the end of the fight. The fight had no winner. It ended in a draw, because neither could beat the other where they needed to. So, Bog was physically stronger whereas Gilded Guy was mentally stronger. So, bog could have won in a situation with no threat of the sun, but he simply ran out of time. So, that's what I think! Not fact, but I like the idea of the draw. But it's up to everyone to decide who won.

One of my favorite scenes is when Bog shapeshifts into Camila and GildedGuy freezes right in his tracks. It was so unexpected and perfectly executed that it even caught me completely off guard.

4:13 - 4:21 mother of god...THAT WAS CRAZY!

Just imagine the tons of leaves and ferns that were swept away by that sword. It could have travelled miles due to the force winds. Probably many have seen them and probably asked, "Where on earth did they even come from?" And traced the source to a flat area, trimmed, unlike the thick undergrowth. An aftermath of an infernal battle between gold and acid.

Animations get better everytime.

When I first saw this video I was still very new to the whole R.H.G and it was my very first time seeing Bog. This was one hell of one hell of an introduction to him.

I really like how his usual intro is shiny and whimsical. But in this one, it's quiet, dark, and sets the scary atmosphere. I like it! Good job gildedguy!

Bog going inside of Guildguy's wound made my skin crawl. Good job though. You're an inspiration to animators.

There are theories that Gilded, at the end, was able to "contain" Bog inside his mind. At least, the main part of him. And that is why after his fight with Oxob, one of Bog's minions tries to enter Gilded once again, probably trying to take back the piece that Gilded contained within himself. That's what I was told, and it indeed makes sense, since Bog could have just went back and fight him again if he wanted to, but didn't. Since he doesn't know what fear is, I think Bog actually was contained inside Gilded's mind

I love how honest this fight was and what I mean by that I mean most animators would let their characters win a fight against another but this shows that Gilded had just only survived, not win.

Holy heckola, I didn't think it was possible for any one person to be THIS good at animation...I watched this with my mouth agape, like wow did this instill some emotion in me. Fear, anticipation, curiosity...sheesh, dude. Well done.

That was amazing! Every time I see a video by Gildedguy it fills me with joy. His use of music to draw his animations around is something rarely done these days. It is done in such a way that it leaves a smile on your face and maybe a tear in your eye (at least me anyway heh). I wish he would put out more but if time is what it takes to produce something like this, I can wait.

Finally! The Hyun's Dojo upload is up! I aready commented on the symbolism of this animation (my interpretation, at the very least), so now it's time to gush about the final product! When I first heard that Gildedguy was making a dark and gritty fight against Bog, I was a little skeptical. I felt that it was probably going to be just that and nothing else: another super serious, edgy stick figure fight against a character who seems to only appear in typical stick figure fights like that. I am so glad that I was wrong. This is euphoric and helped to remind me why Gildedguy is my favorite animator, period. This ended up being so much more than just a fight between an armored knight and a slime monster. There is so much substance, weight, suspense, and general thought that was put into every stroke of animation displayed here. From Powermeep's original score for the pre and post-battle sequences, the constant slight edits to the artstyle, to the brash and messy nature of the fight choreography, this animation is somewhat _delicate_ in that sense. The best thing about the fight, however, is that there is _meaning_ behind it. This is no ordinary RHG Battle or Dojo Duel. There is a full on story that is arguably more powerful than anything that my high school has forced me to read in English class. The story is not just about Gildedguy and Bog fighting; it's about Gildedguy finding himself, in a sense. He's clearly out in the wilderness in search of something. Personally, I think that he's on a quest to face "truth" in a sense. All of Gildedguy's creations up to this point have been light hearted productions that are meant to make you feel good on the inside. Life, however, is not completely like that. Life has hardships, pain, and sorrow. That's what this is truly about; facing what life truly is like and what you watch Gildedguy's stuff to escape from. The background music's lyrics reflect this during the chorus: "Can we live a real life... and do we even know what that means?" I'm going to leave the answer to that question up to you. Also, speaking of the music for the fight... holy cow, the animation in this is incredible! I still get that "Woah!" feeling by watching this over and over again. The bits that start when the chorus starts are hands down the high points, and the guitar solo section... AAHH! Too fricken' incredible! Heck, the scene leading up to that point was powerful! I couldn't have seen that turn of events from a mile away. Also, I must make the obligatory remark that the bit that starts at around 5:54 is not only the most incredible part, but hands down the most beautifully animated thing that I've ever seen _with no competition._ Nothing compares to that moment and the moments that follow shortly afterwards. Also, the way that the fight ends is so... different from the way that almost anyone else would have done it. Props to Gildedguy for being imaginative. You know, it's honestly a little hard to say this, but... this has overtaken Basement Busk as my new favorite Gildedguy animation. I still love Basement Busk to death, but I love this even more. It's a damn shame that this is probably going to be lost in obscurity, because this right here is true art.

This is what I pulled away from this: we are always the strongest part of ourselves, the true us, not what we create for others to see.

I come back to this almost a year for then, and I'm still awestruck. Animators like you don't ever get enough credit as they should. Teams are one thing, but to do it alone is absolutely astonishing. The time and effort you put into this insane. I hope you keep animating and never let go of it

You know the more I watch this fight. The more I’m sure that during the mental battle Gilded Guy could have and was completely able to crush Bog, though it likely would have killed him in the process, so he called a truce instead.

GildedGuy has come a LONGGGGGGGG way since he first debuted, he deserves the recognition, this animation is almost if not on par with TRIGGER animation

Everyone is talking about 5:55 (which really is freaking amazing), but I love 4:12 just as much.

Every time I come back to this one... I have literally never before or since seen an animated piece of work done this well, this feels like if fooly cooly were to be used as the basis for something done by studio ghibli with some rather interesting worldbuilding ideas being worked on.

This fight was animated very well, with only music and sound effects to add. The animation synced very well with the song, and I also noticed that as the fight went on, Gildedguy's style went from rough lines to bold, thicker lines. They communicated so much of the story through strictly only scenic presentation and visual storytelling. They also did this by themselves. The guy is a master.

I can never get over how much of a BADASS gilded guy is! Even in the face of an insurmountable battle, he refuses to back down, and I love the way he used the flame in animation, and the way that even after he was shattered in his mind, he reassembled, and offered his hand to him without a hint of fear. Easily my favorite animation of all time! Keep up the good work!

Okay but can we just talk about the fact that he struck a draw against Bog? Not only did he let him into his body, he kinda tamed him.

Ive been rewatching this for over a year trying to get at it and what it is. I know there's something deeper than just the animation. Here's my take. Gilded's "pen" has given him a drawing or a vision of which he wasnt in control of making. And curious, gilded went out to find what it had meant, thus following the "star" on his pen. Whilst searching, he was paranoid and gave himself nightmares of bog, and hence upon encountering him, he flips out and fights him. Ultimately leading to him fighting the figment of his fears, given the scene where he's been beating up grass. But truth is, they are polar opposites of suppression and collective nature. When gilded had "given up" so to speak, bog engulfs him with his acids. And at this moment, gilded's eyes turn the same shade as the pen, and fate has set place. This is no longer gilded, this is now prophecy taking over. Gilded mindlessly fulfills this by cutting both his hands, welcomig bog into his bloodstream and his entire being but the purpose of meeting bog in the first place is not to defeat him, but to tame him. Scenes that follow after where gilded's shell is thrown and trashed about, portrays how their polarity is showing that they will cancel each other out. It's a "push me down but you know who is really in control" kind of situation. Bog realizes that his anger is equal to gilded's tranquility and sits down next to him. Bog has accepted his offer, both characers poof into smoke, and bog disperses with both defeated and victorious. No one dies, no one wins, the world is balanced and it has given both characters a checkmate Of course, i might just be chasing false art here but nonetheless, the animation and the music is terrific. I love this animation so much and i always comeback to watch it XD
