Got to agree. He had the range to nail both the lighter ‘celebrity’ side of the character, as well as the more dramatic moments like this.

He played the character well, but every illustration of Lockhart before the movie portrayed him with long, blonde lochs of hair. I strongly disagreed with the appearance in this movie. I was anticipating wizard Fabio.

@@julijacaksmurn6938 Its still the same. In the book Harry, Ron, and Hermoine go to the hospital to see Mr. Weasely but they run into Lockhart who is there because of the memory charm. Its just a scence they didn't include in the movies.

Lockhart was definitely evil. Not only was he willing to wipe the memories of a couple of 12 YEARS OLDS. But also remember that he had successfully performed that spell on many other witches and wizards to steal their accomplishments. Sure he isn't up there with Bellatrix, Voldemort and the Death Eaters, but he is most definitely evil

And probably the last time too!

Villains like Lockhart deserved it more than Ron did from that wand. Plus Lockhart completely forgot his wand is broken when Snape told him it was.

@@hardcoreking52 He should have taken it to someone who could have refined the tattered end. He would have a shorter wand for a while. Then he should have destroyed the short broken piece because that piece could have been used against him.

I believe that it is like pressurized magic. When Ron taped his wand back, it left a crack in there for the magic to escape out of, since magic through a wand is just more focused, which probably means there is a tiny hole at the end of the wand for the core to be put in and would unintentionally be the part where magic would come out, much like a rubber wire with electricity flowing through it. What Ron essentially did was sloppily tape his wand back together, and that left a crack for magic to escape like pressurized air, and out backwards in between the cracks of the Spell O Tape. Ron essentially made a reverse blowback wand, and that magic has nowhere else to go but the castor. Its like if someone was holding onto an exposed wire, and the shocks have nowhere else to go but into someone’s hand.

Well Lockhart did try to completely erase all of Harry’s and Ron’s memories, which might be why he was so aggressive with the spell.

I think the green explosion adds to imply the malfunction of the wand.

It's just because Hermione used a smaller less powerful memory charm on their parents. Here Gilderoy intended to erase all of their memories (pretty evil huh) so that's why he said it more agressively

Cuz there is hardly anything amusing about Umbridge. Lockhart may be a narcissistic individual, but his carelessness can sometimes get the best of him in humorous ways. Umbridge is a very shrewd, sadistic individual, who would gladly let others suffer to her own enjoyment.

Memory Charms can be undone by very skilled witches and wizards. Lockhart is the exception. Being very skilled in using the charm, as well as casting it with a broken wand, he not only wiped his own memories but also caused permanent brain damage.
