You gave us some strong informations. 1. When Snape was teaching about werewolves, Hermione pointed out was advanced for them. But Snape taught them this just because he was afraid that Harry may someday face Lupin & can defend himself. 2. Dumbledore didn't let Snape take the DADA position because he knew that it was jinxed & he needed Snape in the future & didn't want anything bad to happen to him
By the way another DADA teacher is Harry Potter, he technically was a DADA teacher bc he taught about 4 dozen students and no rule said that the DADA teacher had to be employed by Dumbledore, Cornelius Fudge employed Umbitch and Snape employed Carrow.
Faisal is right and as you know DADA job is cursed or jinxed. Because Snape was a agent or spy for Dumbledore, dumbledore told him to kill himself so he can prove his “loyalty” to Voldemort. That is why dumbledore never let him have the job. Besides what if he had to kill the prophecy child to prove his “loyalty” to Voldemort? This is why
Barty crouch was actually pretty useful, he was just trying to get harry to win the tournament but was unintentionally a pretty good damn teacher on the way
Yeah as others said, you can't discount Barty Crouch Jr as a teacher, even if he was only roleplaying Mad Eye and trying to make sure Harry was prepared enough to "win". Using the unforgiveables *on* students(imperio) was a bit too much, but there is a reason why Dumbledore and the Ministry never did anything about his teaching methods. He was actually being an effective teacher for the class, even if his knowledgebase came from being on the other end of the "defense against the dark arts" equation.
If we all did a poll we can all agree that pink cat lady or “Umbrige” is the worst teacher in history. And the best person who lasted to teach the other students a lot of spells was Harry- even tho he wasn’t really a teacher.
Nah, Carrow was, since he had students demonstrate the Unforgivable Curses on First Years. Umbridge was horrible, and had archaic punishments, but she never straight up attacked students, or encouraged them to use the Unforgivable Curses on each other.
@@zarifo9537 I mean, which do you think is worse? Teaching DADA theory without actually casting spells, or teaching actual dark magic? Personally, I still gotta give it to Carrow, as I think teaching dark magic is worse than teaching spell theory.
To me, the worst was not Umbridge. I just finished re-reading the Chamber of Secrets and Lockhart turned even worse than I had seen him. He even had his students make a poem about his victory against the werewolf Wagga Wagga, and made exams with questions such as: what is Gilderoy Lockhart's (GL) favourite color? When is GL's birthday? Which is the perfect present for GL? Students only learned that Cornualles pixies should not leave their jail. In the Philosopher's stone, Quirrell tells students to write about certain remedies for werewolves attacks, so he indeed taught them something useful. Umbridge is the 2nd worse. We all know why. No practice on a practical subject, because Fudge, not even Umbridge, Fudge was afraid Dumbledore made an Army to take the Ministry, because he thought he said Voldemort was back to scare everyone, but when Voldemort was finally seen, he had to leave.
Harry, Lupin and Barty Crouch Jr. are the best teachers, they really make students invested in the subject; I think the real MadEye would have been excellent for the job but we'll never know😞
@@kokochislibrary9541 agreed 🤝; but a good teacher should put his personal issues aside and remain professional. this is why I didn't mention him but I still respect him 🙆🏻♂
and the real Mad Eye Moody hasn't teach DADA in the first place, so i think he should be replaced by barty crouch jr who died after he had be discoverd by a dementor bring in here by the magic minister (from the book)
@@rubberbandman3rd Mad-Eye Moody did not teach one single lesson. Barty Crouch Jr. did the job. He wasn't killed tho, but kissed by a Dementor, which is said to be even worse.
@@rubberbandman3rd Mad Eye ha been kidnap prior taking the position of teacher DADA and been replace by Barty crouch jr Under the appareance of Mad Eye thank to the polyjuice potion. Barty then become teacher DADA until he was found out by Dumbledores. chortly after that cornelius fudge the Magic minister came along with a dementor for his protection. then before anyone could react, the dementor kill barty by The Dementor kiss .
Nah. Sure he taught the others some defensive spells but there's much more to Hogwarts education than just teaching spells. The background, the theory, the history, all things we don't really see in the movies or even the books.
I feel like Barty Crouch was actually a good teacher. His methods could be seen as harsh, but it's called Dark Arts for a reason. If it wasn't for him being a Death Eater, he'd have been good in the position.
I feel like Barty crouch was a better DADA teacher then remus lupin. Sure, lupin was easily the kindest of the 7 and they learned a lot from him, but let's be real. Barty crouch taught them to deal with curses which are easily more dangerous. He also always taught them to keep their eyes open at all times and be careful. He also showed them the three unforgivable curses early and bc of that they knew what they could be facing later on.
1:38 Quirell was teaching muggle studies before his trip to Albania btw... and he was away only for a year before he returned and became a proffesor of DADA.
Thank you so much. You have helped me become smarter with Harry Potter and are good to binge when bored or just some good background music when you start drawing.
Quirrel: Killed Lockheart: Obliviated and in St Mungos for the rest of his life with permanent memory loss Lupin: Exposed as a werewolf and resigned, but was killed later Moody (Who was supposed to teach): Locked in a trunk for nine months, was killed later Barty Crouch Jr (Who actually taught): Kissed by a Dementor Umbridge: Carried off by a herd of angry centaurs, later put in Azkaban for the rest of her life (she deserved it) Snape: Promoted to headmaster (but then killed by a snake) Carrow: Probably sent to Azkaban for life (he also deserved it) Yup. This job is cursed.
scottdabud _ YT I believe it too because he can heal wounds (like the fight in the bathroom with Harry and Draco)it won’t be hard to make a antidote to heal with snake venom.
So Quirrell was actually the muggle studies teacher at hogwarts until 1990, when he took a year long sabbatical and then returned to hogwarts to change positions.
@@nothereyetlost imagine what the wizarding world would've looked like had he started working for the ministry of magic, permanently wiping minds as an alternative to imprisonment in Azkaban.
I looked to see if anyone else said anything about that. And yeah, he was originally the Muggle Studies Professor. He took time off, as Quirrell wanted recognition for finding Voldemort, to learn things that would ensure no one laughed at him again. But somewhat quickly, Voldemort found out Quirrell was a professor at Hogwarts, and took over his body and made his way to become the new DADA professor, now with a turban.
Kind of makes you doubt this kid when he offers any opinions. It’s stated in the FIRST book that he taught M Studies but wanted real world experience and took a sabbatical to get some. And boy did he ever “get some”
But Lupin also sadly died during the battle of hogwarts, with Tonks side by side, then their son Teddy, had to go live with Harry and Ginny, at least that's what I thought happened, but where was Teddy when they took Albus to platform 9 3/4? It's so hard and so confusing
actually, Teddy Lupin was left in the care of his maternal grandma, Andromeda Tonks nee Black, Harry did help Andromeda raise Teddy, as Lupin and Tonks made him Teddy's godfather
@@user-ik6wc1rn4j it stung when lavender was killed and the trio discovered that... i mean sure she was Ron's first and stole him from Hermoine but damn... dying and by the werewolf... shiieeet
Every dada teacher: lost his memory during an attack/ was forced to leave the job/killed by the supreme lord of darkness like a f#cking legend / locked away for......... Quirrel: dæd
Fun fact: Dumbledore's Army (from Harry Potter series) and Circle of Khanna (from Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery) are very similar. Both are founded and led by 3 Hogwarts students - Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ronald Weasley for Dumbledore's Army; and Jacob's sibling, Merula Snyde, and Ben Copper for Circle of Khanna - in the memory of a dear friend: Cedric Diggory (Dumbledore's Army) and Rowan Khanna (Circle of Khanna). Both Cedric and Rowan were killed by Voldemort's followers, Peter Pettigrew and Patricia Rakepick. And both Dumbledore's Army and Circle of Khanna consisted of only students of Hogwarts, no staff or teachers.
Rakepick wasn't a Death Eater, she was part of another secret evil group known as the R, which apparently had no affiliations with You Know Who, although R did accept Death Eaters like Pettigrew in to their ranks
Would just like to quickly correct you. Quirrel wasn’t new to Hogwarts when he was teaching Harry in his first year. It was however his first year teaching DADA. He previously taught muggle studies at Hogwarts. Great video though!
Noah Cobos-Garrett doesn‘t someone say (I think it was percy) that he met a vampire (or something else) in the holidays wich completely change him and that he had garlic in his turban and that‘s what smelled so weird (wich was actually voldis face) but I think it wasn‘t told wich subject he taught
Hi, I'm new to this channel but I've seen some of your own videos and I have to say a huge thank you for making these vids 😃 You have a great talent for telling stories and I appreciate the effort you put into making these vids
Quirell-Dead. Lockheart- Permanent memory loss in a hospital. Lupin- Dead. Crouch- No soul, or Moody, dead. Umbridge- Azkaban for life. Carrow- Azkaban for life. When you look beyond the year each teacher was in, you see how cursed it truly was.
Through Professor Quirrell Harry learned to live his life to the fullest and not seek immorality. Professor Lockhart taught Harry to be humble and not let his fame dictate his choices. By Lupin he found the happiest memories hold the darkness at bay. Through Barty Crouch Jr disguised as Mad Eye Moody he learned that foes are hidden in plain sight and to not trust everyone. He learned by Umbridge he must not tell lies, but also that power doesn't last forever. Through Snape he learned love is the strongest form of courage. Through Amycus he observed that loyalty to a false regime would prove his downfall. All were essential to teach Harry Potter how to defeat Voldemort effectively and be the best person he can be.
@@chunellemariavictoriaespan8752 Its not the teachers we meet that come and go, its the lessons they made to remember that are taught to us along the way!
@A Fino "...the Weasley twins were punished for bewitching several snowballs so that they followed Quirrell around, bouncing off the back of his turban." aka the Weasley twins fighting the Dark Lord since day one👏
“Luckily for Umbridge, Dumbledore went into the forest and saved her-“ Me: I’m gonna cut you off. It was lucky for Umbridge, but not lucky for the rest of the world.
Harry could potentially be counted as a victim of the jinx since he ran a defense training club which allowed Umbridge to be able to break into the Room of Requirement to shut him down. Voldemort would've anticipated Dumbledore trying to rebrand the position and prepared accordingly.
Considering the fact that he had so much trouble filling the role I think it’s more likely that the dada position just remained unfilled most of the time and the class was just discontinued for a time after Dumbledore realized it was jinxed. I know that he’d consider it a vital subject so he’d just have the other subjects teach more defensive magic to compensate and in essence get around the jinx. Owl and Newt exams can be reworked to compensate. Though I think it would have been a neat idea to try hiring a ghost as they can’t be physically forced out of the job and if a solid body is needed enchant a statue to help
Not only they didn’t lasted 1 year ad DaDA But they even also died Quil- died in first movie Lockheart - himself (memory) died in a cave … just a new him who keeps forgetting replaced his brain Lupin - died in the last book Barty - died in the fifth book (moody also died ) Dolores - died in the last film (in Azkaban (supposedly) Harry Potter - technically kinda was .. but he also did died in the seventh film Snape - died in the last film Amycus - also died
can Moody be considered a teacher of DADA? He never willingly set foot in the classroom and didn't teach a single class. I would think it more appropriate to say that it was Barty Crouch Jr. who was the teacher. With his fate being that he received the Dementor's kiss.
Tbf it may have only half-applied to Moody as he got perfectly healthy enough to retake the job but decided against it. Even Umbridge, who also recovered, would not be allowed back by any reasonable school authority fulfilling the jinx. Though maybe the events of book 7 was the jinx catching up to Moody and fixing the loophole 😔
@@jemm113 Lupin was still fully capable of teaching the class throughout the remainder years. The only reason he didn't return as teacher was because the students knew he was a werewolf after the events at the end of the year. He decided to bite the bullet before any of the parents or board members of the school would try to raise a fuss about a werewolf being a staff member and resigned. Lupin was a healthy fighting wizard up until the Battle of Hogwarts....
Lupin and Crouch were the best teachers and characters for DADA. Lupin is a fan favourite integral part of the series. And Crouch basically helped the main villain come back to life so i would consider him as the best death Eater after Bellatrix probably. And they introduced expecto patronum and unforgivable curses. We know how important those were in the series. Was Snape a good DADA teacher.? Can't really tell. The half blood Princes potions book was a more interesting plot than his classes. The irony.!!!
*Umbridge was definitely a very bad person, but she was by no means a weak wizard. She even had her own Patronus. And she had a good knowledge of magic.*
All the dada teachers in a nutshell -servant of voldy who is trying to kill Harry -stupid, narcissistic, bumbag, who only knows the memory spell who only know Harry from his scar -someone loyal to dumbldore and actually knows something about dada who was close with Harry’s Parents -bad guy who is trying to kill Harry by putting him in the twt - pepper pig with a crush on fudge who doesn’t even know Harry -someone who is fantasising over Harry’s mum -someone who I don’t even know about and I don’t think he wants to kill harry
In the book, Voldemort asked Dumbledore to teach the Defence against the Dark Arts. Dumbledore refused, so the job was cursed until Voldemort's death. That's why it had so many teachers.
nicholas chu nobody: voldermort: avadakadabraaaaa. Me :oh for crying out loud shut up u always say that ✨*no one cares*✨ Voldermort:i- Me : finish ur sentence then
I mean he probably already knew about the curse and from seeing what happened to the others, so he could just keep teaching potions but he chose DADA anyway.
when he got the job, he probably already agreed to kill dumbledore and be the headmaster afterwards. I'd see it as an offer from dumbledore for fulfilling his wish. He wasn't the teacher when he died...
I would argue that the job was cursed by an ancient magic similar to the type protecting Harry from Voldemort himself. when he was denied the job his immense hatred for Dumbledore may have manifested as a curse on the job. I feel it may also be influenced by Snape's presence in the castle since Snape also covets the DATDA position.
I love how Dumbledore thinks. “The first DADA teacher worked for Voldemort? I’ll hire one who definitely is not capable of that.” “This one is a pompous idiot? I’ll hire the most sweet and humble person in the history of ever.” “This one left because of angry parents? I’ll hire the most least likely person to take crap from anyone.” “This one was an imposter? I’ll let one come in who is so awful and evil that it isn’t possible for anyone to be like her. “This one is an absolute bum-head who turned out to work for Voldemort? Ok. I’ll let this one who has wanted to do this for forever who I completely trust do it.” DUMBLEDORE NOW IN HEAVEN “I’m done. I’m not dealing with all these disastrous DADA teachers.
But Dumbledore didn’t hire that pink toad, Cornelius Fudge thought Dumbledore was after his job, so if Dumbledore didn’t hire a teacher, Fudge would choose for him, and since he thought Dumbledore will send his students to do something that I forgot because I’m straight up copying what the video said, FUDGE (not Dumbledore) hired Umbridge so that there will only be textbook learning, no practical lessons, and fake DADA learning so that students can definitely not be skilled enough to battle. So the point is, Dumbledore didn’t hire that demon, Fudge did
Actually dumbledore (except 5th book) knew what he was doing with who he hired, he even worked it out with Barty Crouch Jr (he in my opinion, actually was the best)
Lupin and barty crouch jr were the best defence against the dark arts teacher. Lupin helped harry a lot he even taught him the patronus charm and barty crouch jr taught the unforgivable curses.
Just remember that Alastor Moody was confined in a small box alone while we have a whole house to travel and wi-fi to entertain us for 9 months. And we still think its not enough.
@Harry Potter✔️ it’s so much worse than death. There is just a body. Still alive but practically brain dead. You just kind of exist. Not dead. Just there. Not knowing who you are, not knowing where you are, and not knowing that you even exist.
Umbridge: You applied first for the defense against the dark arts post,is that correct? Snape: Yyess! Umbridge : But you were unsuccessful? Snape: OBLUSE... Ron: “😆” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 One of my fav scenes of the OOP movie😂
