His approach to literature was not dependant in any way from Blanchot's own. Maybe because he could read his writings when he was "just" a critic and had not started to become this charismatic figure. There's an hilarious moment in one of his courses in Vincennes where he takes a page he has ripped from L'entretien infini (Deleuze never treated books as sacred objects and he came from a time before photocopies so he was keen on ripping up pages), reads a very short passage and says to the students "well, we'd better stop there" implying the rest is not up to par.
