The exfoliating bar seems to be a gimmick. The blades that do the shaving are the same in both razors. As well, the exfoliating blade cartridges are significantly more expensive with no valid reason for the increased costs. Gillette are masters at ripping off their customers.
@@allydz The exfoliating would be for those with rougher skin, to get the oils out, too, right? But The heated is an upgrade from the exfoliating, or are they the same? the exfoliating is just a filler for the heated bar.
@@s4slade hey mate, both the heated & exfoliating razors use the same cartridge, the heated razor is definitely a massive upgrade. I would go a far as saying it’s the best shaving experience you can have at home with the heated razor.
As a female I use men’s razors to shave legs and body and used to use Gillette Mach 3 but when I press down hard the blade flicks off as it’s not attached as well. I bought Gillette aqua grip and I don’t mind it.
@Ohkeh640 That’s sounds about right. I find the Mach 3 is quite mild for a face shave too. If u are open to more options, look into the Schick Hydro. My wife uses it and she loves the lubricants on them.
The exfoliating feature might not be suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. Overall: The Gillette Labs exfoliating razor offers an innovative approach to shaving with its built-in exfoliating bar. However, its higher price point and limited user experience data might make it less appealing to some consumers.
I found that the exfoliating bar razor cartridges were sharper, I get about 10 shaves out of the cartridge. But at 25$ a tray of 4, stupid price. I like the pro glide , but it starts to tug at fourth shave, and it’s 22$ for 4 cartridges. The Mach 3 turbo was the best and they just should’ve put a trimmer on it and called it quits.
@Prentiss Yeates I hear ya brother, I did find the carts on the Gillette labs last longer than the Proglide too. Nothing was wrong with the legendary Mach 3 too. I recon they don’t put a trimmer in there as its much more compact and can easily get to the nooks & corners ✌🏼😀
I believe Gillette drops down quality on purpose of the blades. The current mach 3 blades don't last long as the 90s era blades. Theres huge variation how long blades last depending on many factors including cost cutting manufacturing changes etc
Thanks for the honest opinion bro! I was so tempted to throw out my fusion after seeing some shilled-out youtuber saying Labs give a sharper shave and so much better than fusion etc...It's all marketing afterall they are both made of 5 blades no wonder they shave the same
Hi. I am from India, Kolkata , a metro city , very much helpful video, what you claims is exactly what you feel Gillette fusion proglide flexball I am using since it's launched, before purchasing Gillette lab Razor i just seeking any helpful from you ,it's same the company just imposing Gillette lab exfoliating razor customer for their business hike , it's just old wines in new bottle. I don't buy Gillette fusion proglide flexball razor it's as same as you narrated here. Since 2001 i am using Gillette sensor excel , next Gillette mach 3 , mach 3 turbo , mach 3 sensitive, in 2010 they launched Gillette fusion 5 power razor and cartridge, next Gillette fusion proglide flexball technology Razor and now Gillette lab exfoliating Razor and cartridge. They try to always befool us and we swayed away by advertisement and a few misleading videos and paid reviews. And they need just 1 razor buy that's it , all over the world if 0.05% customer buy 1 Razor then it's not done it's HUGE. And the company and e-commerce marketplace are waiting eagerly for 1 buy and next cartridges , that's it. Thank you. Good night for me , here now it's 12:25 AM 3rd March , now in Australia about to dawn I think. Good Morning for you as you are heading more to east than me.
good review and comparison. i ended up getting the exfoliating bar before this vid came out. like you said its more of just a redesign. its just a design update only not a performance one. the exfoliating bar id say is just a skin stretcher..they are probably trying to reduce cost so they can make more money on replacement cartridges. i predict they will come out with a power version of the exfoliating razor next as they are reducing new circulation of power fusions 5's. i don't clean shave much,. i usually use a beard trimmer and keep stubble. when i want a clean shave i circulate between cartridge and DE. so i hardly buy new cartridges
Thanks Hassy G. Variety is the spice of life indeed. I reckon if they make a power version, the shave will be a lot smoother than the current model. I’m a fan of the power variant.
@@allydz been using the exfoliating bar . it takes a few passes to get rid of small patch of hair under my chin. it doesn't catch them on first few passes. the proglide with power does. glad i didnt buy the heated razor it would have been same. proglide power seems to work better for me
The Gillette Atra Plus, Sensor Excel, Sensor 3 and Mach 3/Turbo were the last Gillette razors to be sensible. But Gillette and Schick got into a blade war in the early 2000's and well now we're at a point where Gillette has no other way to go then to add things onto an existing design. The Fusion has been modified to death. After all this I went back to the basics and started using an Atra Plus again with a nice Aluminum handle. The shaves I get are great and the cost of shaving is way cheaper now. Gillette and all the others have gone crazy with cartridge prices.
@Robert NES816 From a practicality perspective, I hear ya brother. I used Mach 3’s for the longest time and still occasionally use them. The fusion power is my favourite though, Its just is the quickest and the most effective for my skin and beard type and smashes all razors out of the park. Someone said it the other day, Gillette should have added a precision trimmer on the Mach3 and call it a day for the research team.
@@allydz - i thought proglide is supposed to be more advanced / more comfortable than fusion. 1) why do u like fusion power better than proglide power? details appreciated 2) do they still make fusion power handles? 3) do all of the different 5 blade gillette refills work on different 5 blade model handles including power (ie. fusion refill will work on proglide handle?) 4) do you think double edge safety razors are the best/closest shave? thanks for other quick reply and thanks for helpful videos!!! 😀
@@gwailotus9154 1. Apologies, I did read the question incorrectly. Proglide is surely preferred and superior over the fusion for me. 2 & 3. They make the power handles and the fusion, Proglide, prosheild and Skinguards work with those handles. Check out my other video for a detailed breakdown. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6TVwhhdU3TU.html 4. Not at all. DE defiantly teaches better technique and I personally enjoy rotating between DE Safety razors and Cartridge razors. I would encourage people to use both styles for variety as well as being able to have more fun while shaving. Hope that helps 😊👍🏼
@alroydify - a few more questions if you don't mind please: 1) Which do u like better: Proglide regular or Proglide Shield (yellow catridge) and why? 2) what brands + model names do you like best for DE Safety Razors (handles)? 3) what DE safety razor shave soap or shave cream do u like best? 4) what regular shave cream or gel do u like best? 5) if you use shave oil by itself or with shave cream: do u need to wash your face with soap when done shaving to get the oil off to avoid acne or just get rid of the oily feeling???
@@allydz - thanks for quick reply. I've been doin' the beard thang for years and anxious to shave again; just need more info before I invest in products. You're a cool guy 😀🙏
Thanks Ally. I have been using Gillette Proglide for many years (not used a safety razor). Wondering what's your favorite razor (Cartridge or Safety), favorite cartridge razor and favorite Gillette cartridge razor?
Cheers buddy 👍 Proglide is a great razor, My all-time favourite cartridge is the proglide power. I like both safety and cartridge razors. Cartridge razors when travelling or running late. Safety razors when I really want to pamper myself with a luxury soap lather and shave experience 🙂👍
@@allydz I still love my fusion 5 proshield power ! Razor. It gives a very close clean shave, the power does make a difference. Have used a manual and my shave isn’t as smooth and clean
Proglide surely works quicker and better than Mach 3 turbo blades in my opinion. However I like the Mach 3 turbo for days where I need a nice mild shave. Hope that helps 😎👍🏼
I use thé Gillette labs razor and shave every 3 days. I always get minor razor burn for a day or 2 and by 3rd day it goes away. What razor would you recommend if I’m gonna shave often. Like you said in video the exfoliating bar is not good if you shave often
@4ktonpy939 There are few options you could look at. There is Mach 3 turbo, Gillette Skin guard, Schick Hydro 3, Gillette Sensor Excel or a Safety razor to name a few.
First of all Thank you for an enjoyable Video...I think the Catridge razors are suitable for growth upto 5 days or a weeks stubble max coz for growth more than that it definitely Tugs and feels uncomfortable doesn't matter if it's the Fusion or the Mach 3...Safety Razors on the other hand if u are used to it and have a good technique (honestly doesn't get too long to learn) is still the best for a BBS and with a Good Shaving cream or soap it makes the job even easier...Frankly it is going to take the same amount of time that a Catridge Razor takes for shaving, the cleaning process for the Razor though might take a bit longer...Anyway Thank you again for this video....
@@stevehayes8867 electric ones don’t come close, I have the top of the line Philips shaver. They’re pretty good but i find myself having to shave more often.
Having used the power and non powered razors, no difference with the shave. The end result is the same closeness etc, I don’t think the power option is necessary
@stevehayes8867 Agreed. Same shave quality for sure. I do find the difference with the tugging. The power vibrations don’t make the razor pull and the glide feels smoother.
Thanks Ally. Great video, thanks for detailed review. Am using mach3 and was thinking of upgrading to Gillette Labs. But am having sensitive skin on both face & neck. Whats your review for people like me having sensitive skin & shaving every 2 days.
I have made reviews on razors that are great for sensitive skin. There is Gillette Skin, Gillette Skin guard with cartridge and if you keen on Safety Razors, Rockwell T2 with setting 1 and 2 or DE89. You should find them on my channel. Hope this helps
I bought a Gillete Labs and I could freely to say, that's is a wasted money, cause I previously used a Gillete Fussion Proglide...it's much smoother with a Proglide than with a Labs,..if you using as me a shaving foam...
@stanemostar8890 These razors I tell ya brother, they are either a full hit or an absolute miss depending on hair and skin types. I have learnt though, or skin and hair take upto 3 months to get used to a new razor/ blade.
@@allydz I personally tested all Gillete products which they produced in a last 25 years, not only Sensor Excel,..Starting with a Mach 3...so U cannot so much to complain for Gillete Products...even my first ever 3 blade Razor I was tested was a Wilkinson Sword 3 Xtreme ...before that I was tortured myself and my face with a Safety Razors or 2 bladed Bic Razors,..with a Wilkinson 3 bladed Xtreme I noticed a huge difference, fast, easiest, smooth and easy shaving ...even for my beard which is a strong as a steel wire...but soon after I passed on Gillete products and their then best Razor Mach 3,..never go back to Wilkinson again, mostly because Gillete products were more available in a Stores than a Wilkinson products...even that seems me that Wilkinson Xtreme 3 was a slightly better than Gillete Mach 3...However,I stayed with a Gillete since then...and could even thank to Company because my face is a still a baby face in my 42 now...while many mans who still shaving with a primitive Safety Razors are full of scars...ok I started with a Gillete when I was 19 years old,and all these years I'm shaving myself only once per week...I think that isn't good for skin of your face to shave every 2,3 days,..mostly every day...even my beards is a tough like a wire,Gillette never dissapointed, shaving for many years with a Mach 3 or Mach 3 Turbo...since few years ago I tested this Fussion 5 Proglide, and notice that shaving is a much faster and smoother than a Mach 3...only Power Razors dissapointed cause vibration isn't good for shaving, from my experience every little I would cut my skin with a Power Razors especially Fussion 5 Power one...today I tested this newest Lab...and from my first impression it's not better than a Proglide...ok it shave my face that I cannot feel a single hair on my face,..but that is a easier and smoother, faster than a Proglide...I cannot say?! For now...
Really sad how people fall for this marketing crap. I bought a 10 pack of disposable two bladed razors at Dollar tree for $1.25. they work every bit as good as Gillette if not better. And furthermore, two blades is all you need. The first blade cuts your whisker, and the second blade cuts it before it snaps back. So what are the other blades doing?? It's all a gimmick to get people to spend more money.
@peter kerns I hear ya brother. Specially from a guy that uses DE Razors as well, 1 single blade does a good job too. I personally like to use the fusion carts when in a hurry. They work perfectly well for my face vs the disposables or even 3 blades that just clog and tug my face for some reason. Then there is defiantly marketing jazz and unnecessarily over the top priced refill carts but the product works. I have learnt being part of various forums that everyone has a type of razor that they inclined towards using more and what works works for them best is different from person to person. Personally I shave with the carts and DE both depending on the mood.
@Tim Oliver Interesting and cool. They don’t do free razors in Australia 🙁, but I imagine that’s how they get more people to buy the cartridges. How did you find it?
They do a lifetime warranty mate. So I hope they swap it 😄 I see where you coming from and a few people did think about the same thing about the exfoliation strip
@Ron Vichar They give me 7-10 shaves with the Fusion, I have found the Gillette Labs gives 3-5 more shaves than the fusion. So currently the Labs cartridge keeps me happy 😃
Exfoliating bars totally stupid, every man washes his face from dirt and debris before he shaves, what they need to put on a razor is a skin pull tight as we normally do with our index finger just in front of the razor as we shave.
the rubber guard the fusions already have are designed to pull your skin. I think Fusion carts are the end game of carts. Now they are just trying to milk it
That big chunk Of Orange rubber on the fusion is a skin pull What did you think it was for Looks do you actually think they would put a big piece of rubber on the razor just for looks ?? Oh And by the way that doesn't work Worth a shit. just like the exfoligating bar doesn't work Is worth a shit .the only thing that works worth a shit is a safety Razer Back to the Basics.. All this mark 3 And Gillette products is all bullshit it is all marketing that's all . Pick your poison but I'll tell you something I bought 200 blades double sided feather Blades for $70 bucks and if I wanted to I could change My blade every time I shave rather than use the same old piece of shit that I just finished spending $60 on And I'm talking about the Gillette lab blade Plus you get a better shave with the safety blade Anything else would be uncivilized..... Garbage There's nothing worse than spending $60 on blades and having to use the same blade 5 times because you spent 60 bucks on them but after the 1st shave it doesn't shave worth a shit wouldn't you rather a brand new blade that you only paid 20 cents for and that cuts way better than those $60 blades That they're making a fortune on It's amazing how many suckers actually buy it though I can't remember the last time I bought blades I don't think I will ever have to buy blades again 200 blades for 60 bucks I know those guys buying the Gillette lab spent $60 for how many shaves one month ? Lmfao Not this guy you have to find another sucker 🤣 😂
@@francesco0508 Mate I couldn’t agree more on the cost part. Personally I use both carts and DEs. My favourite is the Rockwell T2 & R41. Adjustable razors for me are the way to go. When I’m in a rush and need to get in and out, I use the carts but generally that’s it. Costs an arm and a leg. And once u get used to DE, u just tend to use carts when travelling perhaps. Unfortunately there are people however that take blood thinners etc that have mild carts as their only option. The others are just nervous to use them, I know I was for a bit.
@AllyDz That's a very good point you make and I hope I did not offend you at all I did not Even think Of the points you were making My apologies If I offended you in any way and the Rockwell 👍
@@francesco0508 No offence taken at all bud. The best part is I have personally learnt so much about razors, techniques, what works for different individuals, etc. The range is so varied depending on individual preferences and circumstances, and I always love healthy chats. Peace ✌🏼
Just an update. If you look at the backside. Labs-blades got 5 support bars. to hold the blades. Proglide only has 3 of them. So that could mean a closer shave . But also more abrasive if you got sensetive skin. But for sensetive skin Gillette has "SkinGuard Razor" that is dedicated for that purpose. For me im using Philps-9000 every day to avoid skin issues. Then i top it off a close shave once a week with a Razor. Using Labs-razer for everyday i would have blisters all over my skin. I need 3 days for skin to heal up.
@mathiashammar1 Philips ate awesome bud. I have the 6000 series, and they are amazing for a clean-shaven look. I didn't find any difference with the closeness of shaves between both the Gillette razors. Since you mentioned skin sensitivity, have you tried safety razors?
@@Shadowx011 Good choice, I’m not sure if they do the 600 series anymore but they definitely have a 5000 series which looks identical to the 6000 series.
What’s a G3? I tried looking it up and couldn’t find it. Also about the rubber on any handle to melt, I hope it’s kept in a cool dry place. If it’s in the shower, it’s obvious then.
Gillette mach 3 razor handle is melting and very much sticky, the rubber on the handle which is in front side, please send me the address and phone number of Gillette India head office so that I can send the photo of the rubber melted handle.Thànk you for replying me bro.

@alroydify - thanks very much for answering questions anyway. Can i just ask you to pick one: (regular proglide or proshield?) I'm not willing to be ultra ripped off by the Gillette labs razor refills. I am already going beyond my principles by choosing one of the other two...(well reg proglide can be somewhat reasonably priced when the 12 packs go on sale). I have to say Gillettte has us by the balls and they know it. I'm so glad i'm older and have way more impulse/self control because that damn Limited Edition Bugatti heated razor just screams "Modern Man Must Have" tool.
Haha… with you there mate 100%. I would rather go the Proglide over prosheild. The lower lubricant strip wares off quicker on the prosheilds. Honestly they all shave the same. With cart refills, keep an eye out on Amazon. I found a 8 pack Gillette labs for $32 Aud and I jumped on it ordering 16. Proglide was 38 and prosheild was 44. It’s winter in Australia now so I’m on the heated razor, on warmer days I will take the ‘exfoliating bar’ 🤣🤣razor. Honestly the exfoliating bar is such a gymic but I have developed a liking towards these. Bloody Gillette
@@allydz - thats an amazing sale for those labs carts @ $32 for 8. Were they sold by private seller on Amazon or actually BY Amazon? Also do you know if you can get price drop/sale notification texts/emails for your Amazon "wishlist" saved items?
@@gwailotus9154 this sale was direct through Amazon. About alerts, I’m not an expert. I go old school where I have a wish list of items sitting ‘to buy later’ and I keep an eye out for specials. When they go, I jump on it. It’s a more time consuming way to do but I take rather that time to then cross check if other products have dropped as well. So if around the time Proglide was cheaper, I would go for the Proglides for sure. Between all 3 carts, I’m not too fussed about the cart types as they are all practically giving me the same result. So yea for me it always is whatever works out to be the best bang for buck.
