Excellent, informative video. Perhaps checking out what sells the most on Amazon would be helpful. Bulldog, was an English company, which was bought by Edgewell a few years ago. Edgewell also owns Schick, Cremo, and Jack Black. So all of these branded razors are likely some version of Schick. Keep up the great work!
Great info! Big thanks for checking out the video and sharing. I actually did a project involving Amazon search results when I was picking razors for a different video (Best Razor Challenge). Similarly Gillette was at the top of the search results then too. However the internet had tons more options.
Awesome Video Larry! Target definitely has the largest selection of razors. I just so happen to work for Walmart. My personal favorite is Harry's. After using a safety razor for 6 years I went back to cartridges & Harry's is my favorite. I say use whatever works best for you
Jason! What’s up sir? Hope you’re good. It’s funny, in this video Walgreens actually had the most selections. They had 1 more option than Target. I never would have guessed that. And 100% agree with that last sentiment. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I switched to a Philips electric years ago. The only thing I find is that replacement blades are super expensive. Buying at Costco, which comes with two sets of blades, it almost is cheaper just to buy a whole new razor with blades every couple of years vs buying replacement blades.
The part about it being cheaper to replace the entire unit is so often true. It’s almost a kind of conundrum. I’ve actually never used an electric shaver. I should definitely try one. Big thanks for checking out the video. Would still love to chat. Let me know when you’re available
Loved this video Larry! Great concept:) Target has the Bevel DE razor, I took a quick look at it but would say the King C. Gillette DE razor is built better. Looking forward to the next review with the Schick razor:)
Ron, hope you’ve been well my friend! I enjoyed making this video. And there was actually a few things that surprised me. I don’t think I’ll ever look at the store shelves the same way again. It becomes really obvious that the marketing extends to the shelf. I didn’t see the Bevel at our local Target and it shocked me to see so few safety razors.
Thank you Larry, I’m doing well. DE razors are not as popular in the big box stores because they are making the money on buying the razor blades. Gillette was the first to transition away from DE razors. There are a few DE razors that you can find in retail stores but cartridge razors still dominate the market. Can’t wait for your review on the Schick razor. Take care Larry:))
Great video! Gillette makes the best, so it's not surprising that they dominate the shelves. A bit surprising that Schick is still no. 2. I expect Harry's to surpass them. DE is still a niche market, so don't expect to see a lot in those stores.
I think there’s a lot of Gillette haters out there. But I can’t argue they make some respectable products. And Harry’s was really right there and had as much store exposure as Schick especially with the Target store display. Schick got the win because they had more options on the shelves. Big thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for this video from Greece!!! I studied marketing in the UK now I'm back in Greece and I always wanted to see how razors are marketed in the USA !!!
@@fitnessnbeer9835 yes Gillette is like the king of razors and same packaging although for Europe they manufacture them in Poland! Do a video from stores for Clinique for men and lab series or mens skincare brands in general!! That would be interesting as well !!!!
Hey Larry! You should try TJ MAXX, Marshall's, and Burlington! I have found Muhle DE razors, Proraso shave soap, nice balms, great aftershaves, etc. I like checking those stores frequently due to changing inventory and items you don't find at the common box stores. Thanks for the videos!
Jim! What’s up sir? How’ve you been? Thanks for the info! The stores you named are the stores I usually shop at.🤣. Never thought about TJ Max or Marshals for shaving items but now I’m going to be on the lookout. Would be great to come across a discounted Muhle or leaf. Big thanks for watching!
Yessir! I’ll break down and review the Schick. I’ll compare it to a few razors; but if you want to see a competition between razors check out my “Best Razor Challenge” video. Big thanks for stopping by the channel. Much appreciated.
Absolute banger of a video 🔥 I love Gillette. I can’t be mad that they take up so much space. I believe so far it’s the best I can get. But if you handed me a schick I would still use it I would still have confidence that it would be quality just because of the history the company has. And I’m liking how you save a lot as an alternative to Gillette. I’m curious to know how well a schick shaves in comparison to Gillette. I’m okay with paying a premium but at the same time schick is about the same price or better than most brands and they have the research and development to back it up atleast it seems. Harry’s has only been around for ten years. Dollar shave club is in a similar boat and I heard they purchase razors from dorco.
While I love Gillette razors, the labs brand is my favorite..... Harrys offers a great shave, closer to the DE blades if you like them. Harrys cartridge razors are extremely sharp. Schick is ok as well.... but I will take Gillette any day, I know they are high but you get what you pay for with grooming products. I shave every single day.... so I tend to stick with the most comfortable shave.... and in my opinion Gillette owns that.
When you say labs brand, did you mean Gillette Labs? If so, agreed. The Gillette labs is a great shave in my opinion but I also feel it’s disproportionately priced. I don’t know if it’s so much better that it’s worth $6 per cartridge. 🤷🏾♂️ Also agreed that Gillette makes good products and has lots of good options. I don’t think every entry is necessarily much different from all the others or as revolutionary as the marketing may make it seem. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Harry’s but thought that it was okay and fairly priced. Same with Schick. I think both Schick and Harry’s are adequate alternatives. Big thanks for watt and sharing!
@@fitnessnbeer9835 Yes, Gillette labs brand. I agree, they are priced a little high.... I think some of that is market pressure. The past few years, the shaving market has been flooded with options, I think Gillette has been pressured a little bit.... they've increased prices to offset some of that, in my opinion. Even the Pro Glide razors are quite high.... I'm not mad at them though, I'll pay the prices for the comfortable shave. I tried Harry's also.... they are ok in a pinch, I agree with you there, not my favorite.
Know Wilkinson Sword which is Schick in the USA founded in the UK in 1772 now owned by USA Company Edgewell Personal Care. Gillette founded in the USA in 1901.
Yes it gets confusing because in India Wilkinson Sword is owned by Gillette🤦🏽♂️🤷🏾♂️ Which seems strange to me since Wilkinson is Schick and also Gillette’s biggest competitor. Big thanks for checking out the video and commenting!
🤣. Naw man I just like to try my best to cut through the BS and see if the value of these products matches the hype and the price. Also shaving is something that affects so many men. Man huge huge thanks for checking out these videos! Your support is much appreciated!
If you are buying shaving gear off store shelves you are really buying some bad products. Men please, stop buying these carts and try DE/SE safety razors or even straight razors. I'm telling you, your shaves are going to be better with DE safety razors. And yes, safety razors can give you a much better and cheaper shaves.
After making this video I agree that the stores probably aren’t the best place to shop for men’s shaving products. I like my DE safety razors but don’t necessarily think they’re for everyone. However I think most should give it a try. Big thanks for watching and commenting!
🤣. No you’re definitely not the only one holding the line. Are you referring to the the ‘toxic masculinity’ ad? If so, I agree that was a bad look. It didn’t offend me to the point of boycott but definitely makes me consider other options. And I can’t blame ya if you don’t want to spend your money with Gillette. Thanks for watching and commenting!
