Indeed. When I watched this, my reaction was, "I didn't appreciate how good it was back then, until it was lost in today's age". Back then I would never have imagined that men would ever be stereotyped as anything besides this.
I didn't realize how beautiful this was until I saw the new one...look at this view of masculinity. It's inspirational; men pushing their bodies, succeeding in life, loving their fathers and sons and the women in their lives...makes me want to buy their razors. Strength, love of family, purpose--I am a man and I'm not ashamed.
Damn right you shouldn't be ashamed. Don't ever let something get you down because you were born a certain way. There's 0 things wrong with being a man.
Fully agree, it shows what being a good man is all about without the negative attitude to men in the current advert. Inspiring images and great song makes you feel good about being a man.
Look how affirming this was to men. Hard work, sacrifice, personal responsibility, marriage and family, self-actualisation. This made you WANT to buy a razor. All the new ad does is make you want to throw up and sob quietly!
We just need to be better men and create better men than we were and our fathers/grandfathers created 30 years ago... You guys are so obsessed about "alpha" males that I'm starting to think that you feel sexually attract by them... And if you are, that's not a problem at all, folks!
@@BubbleQ99 "then we were"? Beta-cucks wouldn't win you a WWII or fight in Korea and Vietnam, or do mining and construction jobs. What the SJW feminist agenda behind the latest Gillette ad is basically "the boys of today will become the women of tomorrow with penises".
This commercial was a home run. I love the amazing song and all the images of men being triumphant, not just in sports and careers, but also as fathers, sons and husbands. I always felt this commercial was encouraging men to be their best in all aspects of life. A truly outstanding commercial that just makes today's commercials seem superficial and shallow.
@Stupid Humans Bwahahahahahahaha! Stupid Human Science Denier. Read "On the Origin of Species" and "The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex". Both by Charles Darwin. The first (taught in our schools) delves in to NATURAL SELECTION and SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. The latter states that women OVERWHELMING seek Alpha Males for procreation. The term "toxic masculinity" is made up term by Leftists and SJW's. Same as "Assault Weapon". There is NO SUCH THING!!!!! Dayum,. you are a Stupid Human!
Figuratively and literally. Speaking as a male in the ad/design industry, women have absolutely dominated the field over the past decade or two with the increase in women getting degrees. They naturally gravitate to the marketing field because it's easier than STEM degrees and has a short learning curve. Every SJW ad flop that comes out has been lead by female creative directors. I always check to make sure, and it's always the case.
Of course, licking men's boots is definitely moreso considered "having balls" than telling your shitty consumers that they have to stop being shitheads. Cope harder boomer
I can't believe it...but I actually cried during in this ad.....I've been used to so much toxic messaging against men for so long I forgot what it felt like to be put in a good light - We should make spread this around
Oh, Dear Men, you'll all ways be Love and Loved. Don't ever let other perversions from others are fictious corporation(s) dictate anything otherwise. Real Human Females Appreciate and Love You! 💋
@@bruceli9094 best idea ever and very true. At the end of the day the good, sane, hardworking women would want a good, hardworking, sane MAN by her side. Their nerve wont even be touch by the 2019 ad portraying "man".
Are you going to get angry and take it out on your missus tonight? Give her a good old fashioned beating if she backchats? That'll show Gilette for pissing you off..
When Gillette commercials didn't care about sexism and harassment Now, Gillette takes a stand against toxic masculinity Honestly they're doing much better 💁♀️
Huns With Guns : Good ole days had a lot of covert agendas. Let's be in the now, since we are in transition as the bottom of the pot is being stirred and all kinds of shinola is coming to the surface asking for Healing in these Times of Transparency and Re-Awakening. Shifting for those who desire to heal working towards it and Sifting for those who don't. Free Will Choice all ways respected by Eternal.
They arose as legends with that ad. It takes fucking balls to stick up for others and tell your own consumers that they have to stop being as shitty as most of them are, and the fact most men retaliate with shitty comments and sarcasm to a very real fucking problem really just proves how right they are
@@smolmight3311 as if that's going to stop anything...are you dense? People watching this ad would make them feel pride and strive for success, watching the recent divisive and biased ads only makes them question them selves and even feel shame for things they haven't done at the extent the ad promotes. But do you ever wonder what's the goal of such add? let me spell it for you demorlization.
@@wizardoflolz5626 You're literally just proving my point. You're supposed to question if you are also part of the problem. It's called self-awareness. Y'all literally trying to argue things you don't even understand at all
I don't wanna speak for him but maybe he was talking about society in general where popular channels like Buzzfeed are generalising men and white people nowadays. Also, by all, I'm guessing you might mean an entire race or gender, I would fit both hence why I'm responding but did "all" like you suggest bring this on ourselves or did a set of racists back in the past before a lot of us were even alive bring it onto us along with a minority today? Or maybe it's those who are too stupid to recognise that just like other races, white people are also packed with differing personalities and beliefs and end up blaming people because of their skin colour rather than their actions. That is called racism and as for men, same as women, also each individual with our own personalities meaning guess what? Not all men are of the negative stereotypes too. I'm not going to be some pitiful self hating white sis male because some other white sis males in the past done bad things. P.S Your beef was him mentioning race when the advert didn't mention race, I guess you'd be more than willing to do the same if another race done the same thing, if not, you are a racist and if you don't think it's racism then you are a Stupid Human. Maybe I've missed the point of your channel, commenting stupid things human beings say. If so great job.
@@cafcjames you seem to be out of the loop. Just watch the latest ad from two days ago on this very channel, you'll understand Edit: not this channel, but Gillette channel. I thought we were there already
Maaz Ahmed Part of the intended subliminal programming. Corps all about advertising for profit. Sure one has noticed them everyone on tv, radio and inter net. Simple put this is what inter net is all about advertising to the consumer faster and quicker to the point it's sickening due to the overload of advertisement shoved in ones face. They know all your searches, articles and videos watched so pick advertising just in hopes ones wallet opens to them for purchases. Corps care about nothing else.
I was like 7 years old when I first saw this and im telling you it stayed with me forever , it showed me the blueprint of the journey to be a real man , sounds crazy but its true… it proves that kids take inspiration even from commercials … one of the greatest male positive advert off all times
I've never been into TV as such, but when I saw this commercial as an 11 yr old it impressed the hell out of me and the other kids in school. It does the same now.
obviously depends on the state of mind from all the programming placed upon people leading to different levels of consciousness more noticeable these days. This advertisement made us feel really good inside with some tingling sensations noticed💋 Time to air this video again for all awoke. 🙋
"yOu cAn'T cAlL mE oUt oN tOxIc mAsCuLiNiTy yOu sJw rEeeEeEEeeE" Getting media attention for toxic masculinity and telling men to stop being shitty are far superior to an okay ad that made everything seem perfect while in reality it was absolutely not
@@smolmight3311 First off, childish way to start your comment, further proving that anyone on PC side is not only illogical, but unbelievably immature. And secondly, if you want to change someone, consider positive reinforcement, show what masculinity is about, just like this ad, rather than attacking all men, because guess what: Men who beat their wives or rape aren't going to change their ways because of a fucking ad. They know it's wrong, but they do it anyway. Instead, you pissed off a lot of men, who are not guilty of those things, but feel like they're being blamed or attacked. So literally, not only do SJW bullshit not help make a step forward, it keeps contributing to making so many steps back.
@@smolmight3311 you obviously weren’t born in that era snowflake. Your life sucks compared to what we had. Your generation is the most worthless and lame of all time. Facts that can be proved. Keep hiding behind your computer. Proud to be in the Gen-X era.
Inspiring, contagious, motivating, energizing, optimistic. You watch this commercial and already feel better! It perfectly synthesizes the 80s. Certainly one of the best commercials ever.
I was 5 when this ad came out, but my dad always was a Gillette man, and I forever will be because of this commercial that shows how powering it is to be a man of pride and character. I will always love this ad!!!
definitely playing at my funeral as my homemade powerpoint of my life plays on the projector that I already bought from a high school that closed down. IT's going to be epic.
Wait where is the men wolf whistling at women, or letting his child kick another child's head in? I thought that's what it was to be a man back then or.. at least that's what new gillete is peddling
PaulM68322 , from song lyrics: 1989 men: “We give you all we have to give, for all the man can be”. 2018 women: “chivalry is dead” Also 2018 women: “YOU SEXIST TOXIC WHITE MISOGYNISTS STOP OPPRESSING ME IN YOUR PATRIACHY AND IF YOU LOOK AT ME WHEN I WEAR REVEALING CLOTHING THEN RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE!!!!!!”
Even the songs for commercials were better in the 80's compared to like the superstar artists of today. Such a crap age we are living in. The 80's was the best.
@Death to all Peace at last : The 1980s were an era of bad taste in almost everyt way: mullet hairstyle, junk food, bad music, worse clothes, so WTF was so good about the 80s?
Pretenders/anti-christos/Hypokryst/FatalE/Malevolent Invaders/Fallen Angels/Luciferians/Illuminati love it when one reminiscences the past since they are always trying to take humanity back to Atlantian times where life forms where vaporized. Folks we've been caught up a reversed TimeLoop where humans live their lives over and over again never moving into the future. Well, guess what, good news due to certain dynamics unfolding humans move into the future reclamation of their Divine Beingness, heritage and Gifts. An unprecedented event on earth! Pretenders doing everything in their power to stop this by pushing AI Transhumanism starting with human children and teenagers first with many steps steps in-between. Too bad for wanna be demi-gawds, it won't work, the reclamation has already commenced Jan 2013, can add as the icing~Its A Done Deal.🙏 All ways reminded when the same old music played today was played even 30 yrs ago, anyone can have and most do their personal attachment to any of these replayed songs affecting their emotional body either in an angry, or sad, or mad, or loving memory in which the pretenders harness the loosh as food from all the mentioned emotional responses except the loving memory. The sooner the food supply is out for the pretenders the better as they are PROGRESSIVELY SIFTING back into the blackhole at the center of our MilkyWayGalaxy where their fallen matrices are hence where they came from via Toral Rift or the Birthing Canal as mayans talked about. #TimesUp
you are already Dave, I am 53 and I was 19 when this commercial first aired and I just get a tear when I think men were real men back then and not the confused Pansies they are now
Just watched this out of nostalgia. Apparently all the things that makes us men have been wrong, we are all swines and masculinity is a cardinal sin. O how things can change over just 30 years...
Observing throughout comments for this video many feel inadequate in some way or another because how things might have changed and can bet your bottom dollar when this aired back in 1989 there where just as many people feeling inadequate. This video depicts perfectionism of life itself in a materialistic way for some collective groups then and they are still here today. Let It Go, owning Acttitude (Gratitude in Action) will head one in a happy direction and truly a Happy Life isn't all about materialism. I know, can hear it now~But it helps! ;) Materialism has been promoted big time for along time to make one feel lowly and that a key goal. If one feels lowly, a sinner, bad to the bone, poor etc., nonconscious mind will have one act it out. Just cancel any negative thought form(s) and say it's opposite and watch changes for ones betterment occur. Setting oneself free from the programming and as one can observe the programmers attempts continue and can be quite successful for those caught off guard. Love and honor our earthsuits it's the only one we have here.
Gillette knew what a good man could be. Proud of his work even if he's not the boss, passionately in love with one woman (his wife), deeply committed to his children, respectful of elders and traditions, willing to take risks, and running the race even if he doesn't win. If you look at this and see toxic masculinity, then maybe it's you who is toxic.
The late 80s were truly the best times of the last century for me. Largely ignorant of environmental woes, the fine balance with the amazement of computers and technology without the constant addiction of mobile phones, the wonder of UFOs and the cosmos, the bright hope we had for the future.
I mean this thing is like a bloody work of commercial art. Inspirational, lauding of sacrifice, responsibility, healthy emotion and care, camaraderie, hard work, and healthy relationships between fathers and sons, not some sanctimonious preaching from someone who seems to have never walked in a man's shoes.
This is how you sell a product! You provide a positive message, inspire your customer to achieve greatness not shaming him for things he will never do in the first place. The new ad is a great example of what NOT to do!
When I was a little boy this advert taught me what a man was supposed to be it sort of puts things in order... working , dad gives u keys to a car , get married , have kids ... honestly the best ever I think has ever been made...the sound track was so cheesy yet so spiritually righteous if that makes any sense?! LOVE this advert when I play it even now it takes me back to the 80s certainly the golden era ! I feel for this kids of the 2000 and on.... what a shitty memory there going to have when there older nothing like this stuff around anymore... the 80s was the last decade when the world was pretty normal...before the internet and social media
They can't. Is not men that's running the marketing team over there now. Is not even sane women. Is literally isis feminist that's calling the shot in that company now.
Once upon a time, there were men living in peace and love with women, but then feminism attacked and has been assaulting humanity until this very moment. Forget about the climate change, we have a serious ethics change that must be recalibrated for the sake of the children. Assalaamo alaykom.
I'm so happy as a 90s kid, I was brought up by the older generations of Boomers, 80s kids, grown ups... We'll always appreciate this, and we'll never forget. Love you all :)
spurge83 : In these Times of Transparency, Re-Awakening and Healing one of the important things to re-member is everything done covertly in pass is now done overtly in your face type scenarios. For those who Realize with Real Eyes even this vid has its own soul grp collective [ it's not anything to do with manliness or family life], even though nothing like the current ad out, just distorted dna gene coding showing its face of the makers of the vid and how they feel to express themselves, and core issue is obviously don't desire to give up or stop lifestyle they are accustomed to or how lifestyle was obtained. ~Queen oPhTHALmos
If I remember correctly, this ad started running on New Year's Day, 1989. I remember seeing it during the NFC Divisional Playoff game between the Minnesota Vikings and the SF 49ers. I had never seen it before that time, and they always ran this long version that day and for a few days after, so I thought this was the beginning of it.
