I just got mine for $19 from Walmart and it works well, I love the feel. The blade should last me a lot, I love how it’s metal. The stand is nice. I have the black and gold addition. The way the hand sits and so perfect and it’s really comfortable.
Just FYI; Costco sells this with 8 cartridges, 1 razor and 1 stand for $30 bucks CAD. I believe it's a good deal; however Gillette managed to lower the cost by letting the exfoliating bar as part of the razor body itself. I will be doing a quick unboxing on this product as well. It pretty much resembles Gillette fusion pro-glide technology. Great Review btw! Thanks!
GilletteLabs really works hard to keep up with DE razors. This exfoliating razor just looks like another sales gimmick to me. As far as your beard goes, I enjoy the feel of a clean shaved face.
Wrong. Every single razor gilette brings out is a revolutionary product that completely changes the razor game. DE razors are last century, get over it. The fusion proglide heated + chilled + exfoliating razor with flexball and vibrating technology absolutely is the best razor ever created and quite frankly I don't understand how people were able to shave before this bad boy came out.
@@rowank7663 I guess shavers like you are the reason cartridges makers stay in business 😉 I'm glad you enjoy them. When I switched, shaving actually became enjoyable. To each his own.
So I’ve been using Gillette razors since Mach3… Fusion5, Pro Glide. Now this guy is a refined Fusion5 and Proglide in one. I like it so far, I’ve found for me it works best after a hot shower without cream on the face.
Another great shave, Tony! I agree with the commenters who say this appears gimmicky: five blades, how much more exfoliation do you need, especially if you use a shave brush. I believe Amazon and Gillette's website sold this. Nice stand and razor and with two blades, $25 does not seem bad, but you could also buy with a third blade, which increases the cost to $35 ($10 more for one blade.) Seems like your wallet is exfoliated more than your face! Best from Carla and Karl
Yeah it's just a bunch of BS marketing but whatever we all need money and the need for it never ends so they do what they do they make a good razor but I'll stick with their basic ones this one just never grabbed me I read it and I'm like this is stupid I'll stick with the Mach 3.
@@graciegjj Good advice, indeed! I use the Skinguard, so I am not paying for additional blades that I don't need. I used the Mach 3 for many years, with excellent results. Now I find the SG better suited to my face. I get the carts from Amazon, and have only been paying about $15 for eight. All the best, Karl
The base Gillette Labs razor at Walmart comes with only 2 blades and at dam near $6 a cartridge it is an expensive razor to use and as for the exfoliating bar, I take care of the exfoliating part of my skin & face in the shower, so it's not needed in a razor for me. Im sure you do get a comfortable shave but for that price Im sure you can find a comfortable shave at a cheaper price.
@@averageguytested not as expensive as the heated razor though everyone has been complaining that it died on them I think they should make a heated razor where you can change the battery 🔋 yourself
If you wanna replace it if you seem to think the exfoliating strip is real. To me the biggest worry is some of these razors get water trapped in them and rust from the inside out. People are only getting 10 years on Mach 3
I bought one of these because I can't find my whetstone to sharpen my cut throat razor. Well, with five blades you'd expect something pretty good. I can tell you that it's not a patch on the cutthroat - it's not even close! You can shave up, down, sideways, whatever you like, and can still feel hair. That's from a brand new blade, and shaving in the bath. If that's the best they can do, I'm buying a new stone!
Saw this at my Walmart for 44$ (cdn) decided to go with the older proglide to replace my Fusion that I had for a few years which finally broke! Though I noticed they had two different packages, one with 1 cartridge, another with 4 or 5?
This video just popped up in my feed and I read the title with "Exfoliating Bar" and just had to check it out. It just made me laugh, like you said, shaving is exfoliating your face lol. I'm more of an engineering guy, not a marketing guy so I don't get into the cool boxes and marketing gimmicks much. Gillette is smart though, a lot of people will pay a premium price for gimmicks. Didn't they make a vibrating cartridge razor at one point ? The lubricating strips make me laugh as well. Do guys shave their face dry ? I use shave creams, soaps, or gels, which are lubrication. Funny stuff.
Beard will look acceptable if it's colored. However I think the device you've reviewed isn't worth it. I feel the best Gillette razor is the mach 3 or the sensor excel. Do you agree?
Hey mate, & G'DAY‼️.. Would u recommend this to anyone who has sensitive skin⁉️... I use a Braun Series 9 electric shaver, and is the best electric shaver strongly recommended for sensitive skin. Philips are not for sensitive, but really good for coarse and hard thick hair. For a normal shaver I use the Gillette Proglide Power 🔋, which I find is quite a good shaver, which I would recommend for sensitive skin users as well. I've been using that since just after Easter 2019.
I’d say it’s worth the try - I love this razor. Also, have you tried Gillette’s SKINGUARD? That’s a two blade razor specifically designed for people prone to ingrown hairs and sensitive skin.
@@averageguytested Thanks for replying, mate. Yes,..the 'Skinguard', that's a good one too, which is great for sensitive skin. I also have that one which I use at times, for touching up. I don't get ingrown hairs tho, or not that I've noticed - thank goodness. This shaver is on special at the moment at our Woolworths Supermarkets @ $28. Around $19 USD
No - when I was a kid there was a coffee commercial that featured Juan Valdez as a coffee grower in I believe Columbia - you get the reference if you’re old like me. Mountain - grown coffee! Thanks for watching
Be good to yourself: get a safety razor. Better results than a cartridge, less irritation and it’s far cheaper for replacement blades. You’ll be glad you did, and maybe kick yourself for not changing sooner.
How do the Gillette Mach 3 & fusion compare to the Leaf Razor? I know the head on the leaf is wider and cheaper to use over long run but in terms of performance? I’m a head shaver btw. Thanks
I’ve never used the Leaf for head shaving, but I enjoy the shave and would say that it’s more DE like than the Gillette razors, but still protective and worry free.
Got the Black and Gold Edition with 3 Cartridges and a travel case. Arrived yesterday. Gonna take the razor for a spin today... Although... I'm not expecting the moon or anything... It looks super sweet and slick.... Compared to the Proglide Power with FlexBall that I have which feels bulkier... The flex disc and FlexBall seem to have about the same range of movement and so is the front pivot.... The flex disc does look... Design-wise.... to be able to last longer than the Flexball which is just suspended by a super thin metal piece/hinge.... Feels like a better design overall... I'll know once I use it today! 🍻 Ps. The handle with the pre-installed cartridge did not come with the blade protector like yours did. However, I do like that the whole Razor is black with the name printed in Gold.
Just watched a video over an hour long about the Henson razor... amazing! the science, design, physics and manufacturing of that razor... It may be on my xmas wish list..
Exfoliating bars totally stupid, every man washes his face from dirt and debris before he shaves, what they need to put on a razor is a skin pull tight as we normally do with our index finger just in front of the razor as we shave.
Yes, but the cartridges are the same as the ones used for the heated razor. They had to put something on the bar so why not a fancy marketing term to attract new buyers. It’s a 💎 gem of a razor. Trust me!
I agree that Gillette makes the best cartridge by far. But gotta hand it to them for being masters of marketing as well. Basically, it seems like they took the rubber microfins and turned them into an "exfoliating bar". Come on, how much different can it be? Just too much hype IMO, the Sensor Excel and the Mach 3 are still the pinnacles of system razors. They have everything you need and nothing you don't. Great video as always 👍🪒🙂
I saw this on Black Friday and almost got it. But I wasn’t sure if it was any good so I wanted to watch some videos before I bought it. I think the beard looks good but nothing beats a sharp lined goatee.
Overpriced and it doesn’t have the battery shake thingy aspect that the pro glide has. Also since it has that so called strip for exfoliating, it loses another strip of slick stuff they put on other blades. Seems like we lose too much to gain what an exfoliating piece of rubber? Returning mine before even opening it now. Doesn’t even look as cool as the Gillette pro glide power. Unless you absolutely need a magnetic stand and need it to look cool rather than perform in your bathroom then yea return it and get more blades for your current razor. My guess is they made this with all the lost money from the heated one. Tell me this one doesn’t look like a broken down heated one? Ask anyone who didn’t get this free to give you the gods honest truth.
I didn’t get it for free and I guess you didn’t watch the video, but since you commented I will give you my take. I agree - don’t think the exfoliating bar is anything more than marketing - but the design of the razor and the shave is top notch - like the rest of the Gillette lineup. I believe you have to keep flooding the zone with products in this market since all the manufacturers keep doing it.
A friend gave me this as a joke since he a liberal progressive and I am a conservative! Each cartridge is $6 each! Ouch! Last about 6 shaves. Razor Stand is the best feature!
You can try this, but your Mach3 is a very good razor. If you’re like me and many of the viewers here - you’ll collect a bunch of razors over the years.
@@averageguytested ok ye that’s true bc i just got another one its called Xprt mens shaving it has 3 blades and a gel and aloe vera at the top of it to take care of skin and u can use it as a lubricant aswell
Too pricey and the heavy handle doesn’t balance well in my hand-it’s a bit awkward. As far as the shave goes I’d give it a B. I’ve tested most of the razors out there including electrics and for my money and the closest shave I’ve used the Bic 5 blade disposable. It is white and black in color if you are at the store looking for it. The exfoliation strip did nothing on the Labs razor, however I did like the precision trimmer on the back. I liked the side to side action and the cambered action and yet it still couldn’t beat the Bic 5 blade disposable which I give an A+ and yes before you go to those big shot meetings which I used to, I’m retired now. Just like going to court -shave the beard. I love mine and so does the wife but I’m retired now so foooy on all those higher ups corporate clones. Lol I love em-don’t miss em ❤
@@averageguytested hope this doesn’t come across wrong. I live out here in Wyoming it’s about 99% white population. I have connections with the high school and college and the kids on our. Basketball team are almost all black we’ve recruited them mostly from the bigger cities back east. Now these guys are saying that most black men struggle with stubble and as soon as they were saying this I noticed. I don’t have that problem even though I have a very thick beard, but my individual hairs are thinner. Most of those kids shave with a single edge disposable. This came up with them because I don’t shave until I kill my elk in the fall. So I wear go-tee most of the year and they enjoy giving me the business. Do you think that’s common for black men’s beards? I’ve never heard that before until the basketball 🏀 team was telling me about it. If I try to shave with a single edge razor I’d end up in the emergence room. Cut’s n scrapes everywhere.
Yes, ingrown hairs are common with black men - in fact there are products designed and marketed specifically for them. The issue is when hairs are cut too close to the skin line or below it - if they tend to curl they often curl inward causing ingrown hairs.
I stopped using all gillette products after their anti-male super bowl commercial; why give cash to someone who treats its customers openly with contempt? I switched to an old fashioned straight razor. I purchased a leather strop and honing stone and I can get the razor so sharp that whiskers leap off my face out of fear. The shave is closer than anything I ever had with a gillette (or schick) product and leaves no razor irritation. I can shave every other day with this, it’s that good. Not everyone wants to go through the learning curve and effort to use a straight razor, of course, so here is a simpler alternative: a safety razor. Bought one of those recently for travel as the straightedge isn’t best on the road. I was floored by the shave quality: just as smooth on completion as my straightedge, it just doesn’t stay as smooth for as long. But it’s faster (I can shave in the shower if I’m running late) and no shaving irritation or nicks. It gives incredible results and it costs 15-20 CENTS per blade to replace, versus the $5 or more gillette charges per cartridge. Those multi-blades are a marketing gimmick;, you don’t need sci-fi technology for an irritation-free and inexpensive shave: safety razors have been around over a hundred years and straightedge razors much longer than that. I was disgusted by gillette’s woke super bowl commercial and it was the best thing to happen to my shaving since I started using razors over 40 years ago: I now get closer shaves far cheaper than what I had using cartridge razors, and shaving is enjoyable: I look forward to it. And I’m not giving money to a company that doesn’t care for the patronage I showed them for 40 years. Thanks, gillette!
I love my Gillette fusion 5. I will not replace my Gillette fusion 5 model. All Gillette blades prices are going up. If wash your face before you shave dirt won't get stuck to the blade. Thank you.
I used to be a gillete mark every new razor that would come out I just had to buy it until harry's came on the about 2 yrs ago they don't have gimmicks on there razor's like Gillette does .. Harry's is a German manufacturer I recommend you give them a try I did and never looked back .. 5 dollars for a Harry's here in the UK they are £2.50 and they give you a better shave than a 30dollor razor would ..
@@averageguytested yes i returnednit yours came with a spare blade mine didnt and what they shouldve done instead of a boring stand they shouldve made it a charger so the blade vibrates for a better shave but evertone has different opinions i guess.
It's not the proof is in the pudding how does that even make sense the proof is in the pudding is in the tasting you have to be able to taste the goddamn pudding in order for it to be proof I don't know about this razor it's like the fusion 5 and you can get the blades for a lot cheaper then this new design I'm not a fan I rather the fusion 5 same shave for a lot cheaper and I agree with you Gillette makes the best razor their blades are engineered and everyone else basically copies them great video save your money if you like the razor Fusion 5 you get the same shave for a hell of a lot cheaper price this is only marketing that's all this damn razor is
wish you would have put a link down for the aftershave of your friend .really couldn't understand what you were saying .try to play that over what were you saying cantstandya.you would figure if he's your friend you would put a link down to his product. instead of trying to be cute and talking like a pirate.
That little plastic strip removing dirt? Get outta here! Just wash your face with soap. I hear they're coming out with Gillette Fusion 4D: Giving you tomorrow's shave today thanks to a sixth blade.
I bought it myself as with most of the products I review. If you don’t believe me - search my channel for the series of videos where I offer up 5 brands to switch to if you’re over Gillette. I just review shaving gear 🖐🏽
to much, its just pure marketing, if youve got a big beard, buy a electric razor, the one that use in barbershops to low down all the facial hair and then buy a normal razor and shave your face, its just to stupid to buy this gillete
This is Gillette trying extra hard to come up with some fancy names to sell a regular razor. Strip to catch debris?? Gimme a break Gillette . Do you think men are waddling in the mud all day long? Enough of your gibberish and overpriced stuff
This guy must be on a fortune. All he does is advertise everyones products along with Gillette's new razor. He tries to coyly add in his advertising but he's as transparent as Putin's real motives in Ukraine.
@@averageguytested Video --- singular. I do know, and you know, that I know. And I'd never watch another of your videos again. Best wishes anyway in this tough old life!
