She's not "faking" her mid-western accent, she is able to speak both that way, and in an English accent, the term is that she's bidialectal, she lived in the Uk until she was 11, then moved to Michigan from then on (she currently lives in London), so she started speaking with a mid-western accent so she wouldn't be mocked at school.
a lot of people have been attacking her for being 'fake' or putting on the accent, which is ridiculous. If you spend an equal amount of time in two places, it makes total sense that you would switch easily between dialects. She speaks totally natively in UK and American English and can rightfully say that she belongs in both places. As such it would be strange if she spoke in an American accent when she was in England, or vice versa.
Gillian Anderson excellent actress. From Miss Havisham in Great Expectations to Stella Gibson in The Fall. Her accent sounds more transatlantic here but she has definitely reverted back to her native English accent now as I have seen her on a few chat shows and that US has now fully gone and her words are more clipped. One only has to listen to how she pronounces water in the first few seconds and then Bugatti later. She was on Top Gear this evening and she definitely pronounces her t's now.
She is bloody hilarious! (I;m not British though, but sometime I think maybe in a past life or something I was because its the number one place I want to visit that i've never been ans whenever i watch a show set in England i feel like i've been there)
I love top gear, and when I was little I watched a show called James May's toy story and my whole family would watch it every week and james may is one of the top gear hosts
How do you manage not to get blocked? I tried uploading the one from yesterday and it got blocked on NBC content before I even got a chance to finish uploading!
Can someone please tell me how the word is written, which she says at 4:24. That what the paparazzi were doing in Los Angeles to get a reaction. Thank you
Why this stupid black frame? Impossible to have full screen video! It's forbidden by RU-vid! Use native resolution, please! What will you do, with the future 64k screens?
@Gwisemua I love her free she is with telling her Real Life Stories. from corset strings dipped in "excrement", to liver flushes and colonics, she shares it all... and her interviews on BBC shows ( Graham Norton Show and Michael Parkinson ) are even funnier, she uses her natural accent and the same slangs as I grew up watching on Monty Python and Fawlty Towers... sweet!
Yep. Same with me shifting between Canada and the UK. Honestly, people who haven't spent an extended time in a place with a very different accent just don't understand the degree to which you tend to absorb the accent around you without intending to, and then revert when back in your home environment.
I've never understood either, and I'm in the UK. Admittedly, I'm not into Sports, and never liked the Spice Girls...maybe that has something to do with it.
why do you spend your time making stupid comments like this mate? lol Obviously you have never lived between 2 countries for years at a time this is what happens. I do it myself and i live in France now i have a French accent!!! i always had comments about my accent. i think she also likes to please the people she's with, she's so sweet so she takes on their accent to fit in, i think it's adorable, i do it too. It happens naturally though.
cezar211091 yeah in the US they just have 2 different names for it. if it's flat its a parking lot. if it's multi-storey its a parking garage (i think??). whereas we would call both types a Car Park.
