I fucking LOVE this movie The fact that the girls play field hockey and the popular boys wear overalls and drive Volvos seems uniquely Canadian to me, LOL
It's such a good movie! I remember watching it when it came out and recording it on VHS! I couldn't believe it wasn't more popular it's a timeless gem ❤️
I really thought I had already commented on this video... Dammit. The Ginger Snaps series was so important to my formative years... I definitely watched the original and "Unleashed" with my friend Leslie, and have a very distinct memory of watching "Snaps Back," with my friend Buckley (Kelsey)..... Haven't really spoken to either of them in about a decade, but my goodness it's amazing how intricate memories can be from adolescence
I seriously adore so much the movies and tv shows that were directed towards girls at the 1990s and at the beginings of the 2000s they were showing females struggles, how girls can be powerful , and them showing girls can be witches and magical and feminists and also have strong female bonds and friendships is so empowering and it left a huge impact on me as a child at that time and infact in the past few years the movies and tv shows messages have devolved from girls who are witches and strong and also with struggles to uhm being a pick me and shy and submissive to male leads who are either rich or cruel with no moral compass 😖
i love ginger snaps. I wish it was as popular as jennifer's body, considering it copied the plot of ginger snaps, down to the walking in the hallway lol but i enjoy both movies a lot
something i feel is rarely touched upon when people talk about this film is trina, the sisters' bully. she's such a perfect example of women on women violence and how teenage girls are encouraged to hate on each other. from the sisters' pov trina is seen as nothing but the bitchy popular girl, but we as the audience get glimpses of trina's insecurity when she's trying to get sam's attention, and when she breaks down in anger near the end and we learn that sam took her virginity and then ghosted her we as the audience see that she's just another teenage girl trying to figure out it all out. but ginger never sees it, she never gets to figure out that women are constantly pitted against each other for no reason, and she kills trina. it's so tragic and i wish more people talked about trina. loved this vid, it's very well done, i'm just constantly tripping over myself in my excitement to talk about this film haha
