Hey Nerds, I'm Rachel. I love movies, tv shows, books and especially fictional characters too much. Here is the place where I discuss them all, mostly in video essay form. Too much over-analysis and rambling at times. Enjoy your stay!
Yes, he deserves it because he straight up, took an innocent girl and took a big old butcher block blade and caved her head in with it. So let's, commence with the oh, he's such a tragic character bull you know what!
OMG after watching 3 of the seasons, you put my words out of my mouth, I totally agree with your review, I never have sympathy for Maggie and Mel find them fake, only Macy have some kind of cool and realistic character.4th season, by 1st episode I just abandon the show completely.
I think my favorite scene regarding Dawn's identity, is when Buffy is talking to that one monk as he's dying and she learns why they sent her to Buffy, and she says "So what is she?" Monk: "Human....now." "But she's not my sister" Monk: *sad, dying smile* "She....doesn't....know that." The look on Buffy's face as that fact sinks in, and you can SEE her coming to terms with what Dawn is, and how she's been treating her up to that point. Just such a wonderful scene.
I dunno, I've met quite a few 13-14 year old girls who are as silly and flighty as Dawn. I mean it's not like there is a Maturity Switch that automatically gets flipped at 14, totally altering a person's behavior. She seemed entirely accurate for a particular subset of teenage girl from my experience. I also don't get the hate on the character, I mean, I kind of get it, she is, by design, meant to be the "Annoying Younger Sibling" trope, but it's hardly a unique thing, and it's not like she doesn't have room to grow in the show.
I found her grating the first few times I watched it (I am the same age as Michelle) because I thought I was so much more adult than her. 20years later, I find her character more sympathetic and understandable, once the brattiness stopped irritating me. She really grew on me.
With the way they changed her, they might as well have introduced a whole new character and a whole new actress in Season 4 instead of Alison, because the character we saw from Seasons 4 to 7 was nothing like Alison DiLaurentis.
29:20 hard disagree here, I did not like the CGI Appa or especially Momo. They way they moved, the way they talked, evoked the strongest uncanny valley sensation I've ever felt. I actually hated them.
The fact that my thought process went "well yeah, they have other shit to deal with", then "yeah but when you're 14 it's important, they're kids", and then clicking that maybe when I was 14 I hated Dawn so much bc I had normalized unsafe home environment (among other things) to the point of thinking that she didn't have anything to complain about But tbh I also hated how immature she was.
I watched the show when I was like 11 and Prue has always been my favorite. How could anyone hate Prue? I’ve loved her so much. I feel like the haters are just immature shallow-minded twats who think they’re so much fun while in fact, they’re actually full of 💩 and stupidity 🙏🏻
Why does their mother tell Piper on her wedding day that Piper is the heart of the family? Also, in later seasons Phoebe was very self focused and sometimes cared more about her newspaper job than saving innocents. Though I do agree that she tends to be the one to care about others the most - for example, she was open to Paige and Billie.
Also in s2 she seem to loose some baby fat in her face s the transition from a girlish bouncy hair teen to a more severe and marure look is even greter. Sorry fir bad english not my language
She was never underrated in my book. I think my favorite scene is when Her Magnificence hits Murk in the face with a shoe and his reaction is "thank you".😂😅
Cole was arguably one if not the most compelling character whose inner struggle between good and evil really resonated on screen (Julian McMahon was phenomenal). The way he was treated by the sisters as if he never did anything to help them and was public enemy no. 1 the entire time is so frustrating. Phoebe out anyone should've been able to understand the position Cole was put in when the Source took over his body and the helplessness he felt as a result. The way she discarded him like a dirty dish towel was unforgivable and overall a turning point in my view of her character. Was Cole perfect? no but for that to be the catalyst for she and the sisters turning their backs on him when he had no control of it is cruel. They and the writers did this man so dirty, its unforgivable.
Shannon’s character as Prue was one of the best that ever did it I thought she was so amazing at what she did when it came to this show in particular 🌹❤️🥰❤️
The writers shouldn't have hated Laurel. She was a wonderful character and she had a big impact on her friends' lives, especially Sara since Laurel was the one who set her on the path to being a hero and join the Legends, setting in motion the entire Legends of Tomorrow series that eventually resulted in Sara being captain of the Waverider and eventually marrying Ava. Just because Laurel had her conflicts with Oliver doesn't justify the writers hating her since 1) everyone has been in Laurel's situation at some point in their lives and 2) it was understandable for Laurel to feel unappreciated since Oliver acted horribly towards her when they were together and even after they broke up, and he never accepted her as an equal on the team. Plus, she had done nothing to deserve being killed off for good and the writers are being cruel treating her like her death was well-deserved. I even prefer Laurel over Black Siren, who was a villain for most of the show and had a hard time redeeming herself even if she did eventually. The original Laurel was far better than Black Siren since unlike her Earth-2 counterpart, she never would have turned evil, started killing people or worked for bad guys. Keep in mind that what set Earth-2 Laurel on the path to being Black Siren was her father's death, but the original Laurel mourned her sister's death twice and was inspired to be a hero instead. Laurel wouldn't even be dead in the first place if Team Arrow had just destroyed the Khushu idol instead of keeping it KNOWING it was going to be stolen, and I still think OG Laurel was the one Oliver should have brought back when he recreated the multiverse
