Gino's music is relentless... you just don't want it to stop. The band is so tight, the production is excellent.... glad you enjoyed it. He has more for your ears...
Mark Craney was my drum teacher. We used to jam on some Gino tunes, along with Jean-luc Ponty and Tull tracks. I still use some of the concepts that he showed me. He was a beast of drummer!
Back in the days I was sort of hooked by Gino. Great compositions, gorgious voice, rocky, jazzy, fonky... all the good stuff! Good to get back to him with you!!!
I saw that tour and it was incredible. Went to World Of Wheels in '79 & someone had a '67 GTO, pearl white, chrome undercarriage hiked up on a mirrored turntable. Dude had this album looping all day. Beautiful memory. I call Gino the mad scientist of music. Was into his early stuff before this album came out. "Feel Like Flying" is a great mix of bass, vibraphone & sax
Ya know, I've been critical of you before. I think you even pushed back on me for that. But I also give credit when it's due, and this was a great reaction. Probably because I agree that's my own reaction. This is a great track. It's hard to deny it, for anyone. It's a smoking song. I had the pleasure of seeing Gino in 1979 In Jacksonville Florida, at the old coliseum, it was one of the best sounding concerts I ever went to. There's been a couple I think were better, just based on the sound, but this one was right up there. I'm glad you like it man.
Thanks for the reaction. I've always really liked Vannelli. I would suggest going back a little further and reacting to 'People Gotta Move' his first hit single. 'Powerful People' or 'Fly Into This Night' would also be excellent choices.
Justin, if you want to hear more from Mark Craney, then it's time you listened to Jethro Tull's 1980 album A, especially as Eddie Jobson also plays on it and contributed additional musical material😉
@@Owlstretchingtime78 Thanks for your support but I doubt Justin will get to that point just yet. I've got the impression he's going to continue with Stormwatch to close the so-called folk rock trilogy from the late 70s. Anyway, I like Stormwatch as much as A and he'll end up listening to the latter one of these days...😉
My friend had three earlier albums and they are great too but this was my first Gino album. Running wild in the dead of the night… oh yeah, those were the nights my friend.
Mark Craney on drums, highly underappreciated master of overplaying in a good way! Do yourself a favour and listen to his drumming on the titletrack of this album "Brother to Brother"! It totally blew me away when it came out and still does to this day. The way the toms were recorded....I had the feeling I was INSIDE the drums. Absolutely incredible.
I don't know about the rest of the world but the "Brother To Brother" album was Huge in Canada. Excellent album. ALSO: If you like the music I say look up a fusion band from Montreal called "UZEB" (instrumental)
It kinda reminds me of Jean Luc Ponty’s band maybe because I was listening to that around the same time. Very tight and a little more funky but sexy jazzy proggy.
@@-davidolivares Drummer Mark Craney, who plays on Gino Vannelli's Brother to Brother album, has also played with Jean-Luc Ponty on his Imaginary Voyage and Civilized Evil albums. So there's a rhythmic similarity.
New to Me...Guitars a trifle too clean Drums a bit lite with the bass bins slap Tune a trifle flit too But 61% all in all Relatively speakin' that is Why? Try Gettin Betta by Pat Travers or even Need Love or Hooked on Music Better still , Hard Rock prog drum beats with Heat in the Street JP! Chairs!
@@Ker-mk3bf Because JP asks for our opinions. If only glowing praise were seen here it might appear that an artist is universally adored, whereas in reality... not so!
