I have waisted too many years NOT painting... in 2018 I decided to make it possible for me to spend as much time as I can with painting 🙂 Painting is what I enjoy the most. I have started painting with egg tempera in october but I'm using tubepaints from Sennelier and I paint on panels that I prime with watercolor ground. I do not have the courage to make the proper egg tempera ground myself. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent 🙂

As for alternatives to dry pigments, if I may make a recommendation: gouache. Gouache is a water based medium very much like watercolours but with an opacifier agent added - calcium carbonate usually (chalk). Good quality gouache paints have high pigment content and if you buy the better brands - Windsor and Newton for example - you will get high quality pigments with very little opacifier mixed in. Mixing these with egg medium creates a paint very like the kind of paint you make with raw powdered pigments.

It's often hard for me to get going. But I also find that once I get started and get "stuck in" with the work, the time just disappears and I can't stop. I have to start earlier now though, because the light goes so early now, at ten after four pm! So, earlier starts.
