In my opinion, this is the most powerful moment of the series. I’m glad Joan finally stood up for herself but also forgave Toni. I’m glad Toni finally decided to change her personality but admit how toxic she was to Joan. And it’s great to see Maya and Lynn support them both
@@chrispeplinski7306 no she didn’t, you guys just worship Toni and you are used to her self centeredness. Joan finally got some success and was living life on her terms - and because Toni is so jealous and insecure she couldn’t support her friend.
@@PeteMcCorvey I know that Toni is the most beautiful of the girls and considered to be very funny, but I feel that she gets away with a whole lot because of that. There is no way that Toni's behavior is even REMOTELY acceptable!
@@keyshawnsneed9046 Toni was dating a poor guy named Greg. However, she ended up cheating on him w/ a rich doctor named Clay. Clay proposed to her & she accepted. Toni tells the girls what happened and Joan of course didn't approve. Greg comes over and Joan, thinking Toni broke up w/ him for Clay, accidentally tells him about the engagement. They break up, Toni becomes depressed. Joan takes everyone to Jamaica mainly for toni. However, she tells Toni what really happened. She gets pissed and pretends to sleep w/ Sean, Joan's s*x addict bf. Then later on, while trying to sell Joan's boss Mr. Swedelson a house, Toni TELLS him that Joan's bf is a s*x addict. Then Joan cuts her off and then they make up, this scene
I remember being a kid , and literally busting out crying as soon as I saw Joan crying . Literally the most pivotal moment in the whole series right here .
I just watched it on Netflix and I’m bawlin .... I’m someone who is very big on friendship, and while Joan and Toni didn’t have the best friendship, they complimented each other so well.
Yes Toni got custody of her child and moved to another state. The show had one more season after that with no mention of Toni so no they never made up after that.
@@Multifacted_Brotha See I've missed a lot of episodes. Joan was always too flaky for me. I saw a few episodes after Miya and Darnell got back together. I'm gonna to go back and binge watch all these episodes one day.. well the most recent ones lol
Let me tell you as an Hispanic 20 year old man,I often don’t cry at shows but this scene really had me in tears. I was at work watching this crying like an idiot 🤣
Just watched this episode for the trillionth time & they deserve so many awards for this. They get me crying every single time , this was so beautiful the acting the song EVERYTHING.
It’s rare for me to hear this song and not think of this episode. It came on my music shuffle yesterday and I had to download it. This was truly a great show and one of the most moving moments. I remember watching it when it first aired. Good nostalgia.
This scene was so sweet and I hated the fact that they did all this to let Joan forgive Toni and then they wrote it where the situation was flipped and Joan didn't get forgiveness and I thought that was kind of hypocritical of them to write it like that. Tony literally begged Joan not to throw away a 24-year friendship just to turn around and actually throw it away herself when Joan messed up. Smh🤦🏽♀️they are both hypocrites to me, because Joan is a hypocrite to treat Tony like this and then turn around and do the same thing but also Tony is a hypocrite to ask for forgiveness about something that she wasn't going to forgive herself. That's honestly why they didn't need to be friends anyway.
I actually agree with you. I feel like Joan doesn’t deserve that type of treatment cause she literally forgives all of the girlfriends, including Toni for things that honestly she shouldn’t have. Joan had never been mean or selfish till the last season with Toni on it and for her not to even call her back is pretty dramatic
The petty stuff they went thru was a lot I agree but Toni could’ve lost her child and she needed her Bestfriend and she wasn’t there for none of it I would write her off too
Thank you. It’s crazy the misremembering that goes on but it goes to show you how fake a lot of people are. Everybody ALWAYS excuses Toni when she is by far the worst person on this show. Outside of season 1, she has very few, if any redeeming qualities. She once in a blue moon says or does something good & everyone acting like Toni moved heaven and earth doing the bare minimum! Joan deserved that success and it was terrible how they punished her and forced her to leave the city in shame.
I’m going through this right now. I only have one friend, I lost my job, and my online business is failing. If it wasn’t for my family, I would be homeless. My family and my man are the only ones preventing me from having a mental breakdown. I didn’t even do my old friends wrong. They just didn’t consider me a friend.
I look at it as a test of faith and when we cry out to him and he hears our cry is when you know the blessing is on the way we just got to be patient and hold on to his unchanging hands and believe that he will make a way
Like a got damn BABYYYYY😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Love me some Girlfriend's, had the DVDs for years and I cry like I just watched it for the first time... Such a powerful scene!
watching this scene with those powerful vocals in the background, it made me tear up a bucket. this is one, if not, the most powerful scene in every tv series. not a religious person, but joan and toni’s closure was executed so well. toni finally realized how toxic she was while joan finally stood up for herself and forgive toni too.
Scenes like this make mad all over again on how they wrote Toni's exit. J and T were way better than that and they deserved a better goodbye than J showing up beyond late as T looked back at her. 😭😭😭😭 this scene tho!! ❤❤
The show was cancelled. Toni's character quit. Do to her not getting paid as much as the other girls. They all made a pact. The other girls betrayed her.
I thought the show was cancelled because WGN didn't want to renew and BET wasn't getting enough views because everybody didn't have cable back then.. What do I know..
I saw this while watching the show on Netflix, I was in tears from this moment. The message behind this moment. I have been struggling to keep this message in my head. Just so happen today I got a reminder post on Snapchat when I recorded this moment last year. And no this video comes up again. Just wow. ❤️
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 2024--- We praise you healing God!! Forgiving God!!! God of restoration!! We love YOU for who You are. Thank you for those who deliver your messages. Blessings and strength upon the Pastors, Prophets, Evangelist, Apostles, and Teachers. ❤ ... and true Friends.
I remember feeling so emotional when I 1st saw this episode as a teenager. Just saw it again on Netflix right now at 37 years old and I'm crying my eyes out. What a powerful and beautiful scene.
As cliched as this moment is, this is one of the powerful moments in not only in the show but media. The song, somber mood, and the fact that Joan and Toni forgave each other at the end makes this one of the best scenes in the show.
I’m rewatching this show and I’m watching this scene and this song makes me cry. I been feeling depressed dealing with past trauma and being a victim of SA and sometimes I feel like giving up. I needed this. 😓
I have said it before , and I will say it again.... Hollywood needs to bring back Girlfriends !!!! With the same cast members , and the same script writers 👍 .
Yessss I’m so upset how they ended Joan’s story she deserves so much more. But I hope they don’t do a funky little hour episode they did to finish out Mary Jane’s story after they canceled (being Mary Jane) 🙄
This scene will always be my favorite scene in this episode. I catch the Holy Ghost😢😩every time I see this scene. I feel the emotions😩 and the passion😩in this scene. You can feel😩 the emotions😩in Toni’s facial expression. I love♥️ this scene because it explains the empathy♥️of a friendship♥️. This scene will always bring tears😢😢😢😢to my eyes. No matter what year it is. ❤️❤️♥️♥️
This could've been the video for this song because I envision this POWERFUL scene of love, forgiveness & character building EVERYTIME this song is played!!!!
One of my early memories of the show. Didn't watch it much (and, still haven't), but I recall watching Joan break her friendship with Toni, either in the episode prior or earlier in this same episode.
Just watched this episode & it was super powerful & emotional for me. Literally felt the energy thru the TV. Ughhhh this was an incredible moment 🥺. Blessings to you all! 🙏🏽💙
The Best Episode of all time. A Different World, Martin, Good Times, Sistas, Living Single do not even compare to this show. Have a Reunion it's needed.
I love this show lol but that's a damn lie..Martin is a different type of show for starters and the rest are classics as well on the same level except for Sistas which is a pretty decent show
I've been to many a churches where I've wanted to do and probably need to do what Tony did here but I know I wouldn't be no mo good standing there vulnerable and raw just thinking bout "things"...somebody would have to catch me for real.
This episode hit me hard because me and ex best friend of 5 years are in the same boat bc we both held grudges but I know we’re not to going to see eye to eye
She said she can’t go there anymore that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have love for Toni it just means she’s tired and needs to continue without her. Doesn’t mean the love is gone but it’s just time to move on especially if that person isn’t bring peace in your life it’s a waste of energy.
