It's evolved. At first she was really sheltered. Her mom didn't allow her to hang out with people, and she was raised to be what Sheldon was naturally. Over time, with actual human contact, Amy evolved, and she developed patience and a better understanding of social norms. These, along with her basic mental ninja skills she had as a microbiologist make her the best person to marry Sheldon and help him. If she had stayed the same way she was in season 4, that Amy couldn't have tolerated Sheldon as a romantic partner, and never become that life partner Sheldon needed.

Isn't that why she stormed out? Because she had to either answer the question or forfeit her turn and lose? She obviously didn't want to talk about it, so she automatically lost, which upset her.

Amy comes across as an intelligent, normal but somewhat socially stunted, woman. Unlike Sheldon, who actually seems to be on the autism spectrum someplace.

I do t think she was putting up a front I think she changed because of her career in order to succeed and then never learned to turn it off. After working Healthcare I've become less shy more direct and less of a pushover. Our environments change us it doesn't mean tht b4 we were faking sometimes people just change

Amy's was a result of few social interactions and a controlling mother, which changed as her social circle got bigger. Sheldon is just Sheldon.

The first few season she was supposed to be 'female sheldon'. Even Mayim admitted the casting called for something like Female Jim Parson, which she had to research first because she mever watched the show before. The writer just sort of developed both Bernadette and Amy characters so they have a distinctive trait and make them different among the group.

Anna Fowdy It was (season 4), but she was already working on it and it couldn't be that long of a time length.

She doesn’t expect Leonard to not have any girlfriends while being on a break. She is quite civil and polite to Priya. But yes Penny-Leonard appears to be based on Ross-Rachel. Ph.D. scientist with a gorgeous girl who starts off as a waitress in an on again off again relationship. Penny also accidentally got married in Las Vegas (though not to Leonard) and had to get an annulment.

No it had nothing to do with that. They both knew she was playing both sides of the fence . She wants her cake and to eat it too. She wants leonard in her life but she doesn't to be tied to him. What penny was doing was incredibly selfish at this time and they both called her out on it. Leonard is supposed to just deal with guys coming in and out her apartment but the first time a woman shows him general interest she can't take it

Well considering Penny uses Leonard for free food/rent, it’s normal to ask why she still hangs out with him after they broke up. The girls aren’t stupid. At least Bernadette and Amy have their bf’s as a reason to hang out w/them

Not to mention, as ridiculous as Leonard was being in the bowling episode, instead of letting things cool and talking it out, Penny listened to Wil Wheaton (who should have minded his own business), who essentially broke them up by telling Penny to leave. Honestly, she kind of deserved to have it thrown back at her for what she did to Leonard. Additionally, when you consider that deep down, Sheldon really cares about Leonard & Penny, it lends more gravitas to why he would hate Wil.

I find it so annoying how women in films and tv always need to be ‘punished’ for breaking up with a ‘nice guy’. Reminds me of the 1880s

@@kristelpi652 If you want to talk about Hollywood, men are FREQUENTLY punished by the writers/in universe for leaving the female main character. RomComs in general tend to base a nice chunk of their comedy around the guy getting punished for it. In the real world (and assuming this woman was actually a good woman worth settling down with) they're generally punished by their own guilt and a lot of times the people around them consistently pointing out that they had someone great and didn't commit to them. Writers punishing a character for making a wrong choice is 100% not exclusive to women.

@@kristelpi652 How was Penny punished for leaving Leonard? It's not like she was totally depressed and couldn't find another man but she knew he was totally different and real caring. It was just a matter of time when she realized what she lost. She could have end up with Zach but then she would have barely changed. The real mystery was why Leonard loved Penny and always felt guilty. The writers punished him way more than they punished Penny. Besides her look she wasn't really interesting, especially not for a nerd like him. I know many nerds and they usually aren't even interested in girls like Penny because they corporate in complete different dimensions. I can understand that he was interested in sex with her because he rarely had sex but loving? Til the very end of the show they never really convinced me as an romantic couple staying together for years. Their lack of harmony and their huge differences in every possible way was a running joke through the whole show.

@Scientasy-Guy I was mentioning penny is wrong. She manipulates Leonard, and is afraid of commitment. To any who whine they are not ready, they are scared, it's too soon, they don't know, it's moving too fast, etc I say "no such thing." They are just scared of commitment. Penny is one of those characters to represent such.

I personally like the character development. At first, Amy casting call was really for female Sheldon but I think if she is a true Sheldon clone, the relationship would not work anyway and if Sheldon did not grow a little it would be disaster. I do love how their relationship work though, where if they found difficulties, they tried to communicate with each other trying to solve their problem.
