Girls Und Panzer Character Analysis: Maho Nishizumi 

Finally, the best sister, she truly cares about Miho and only wants Miho to be able to carve her own path. Even as children, going out of her way to give her Popsicle stick to Miho, when hers won and Mihos didn't. Heil Kuromorimine I'm not crying about her being so caring... YOU'RE CRYING! 😭

I think a character analysis on Erika would be intresting to see she not the one note bully, or even a bully at all to be honest and Maho simp, plus she does develop in Der Film and Das Finale.

@4:16 In this scene in the english sub, the word "selflessness" is shown on screen which is in stark contrast to the flashback scene when Shiro is dressing Miho after the loss to Pravda. Also, its my personal theory that Shiro realized that Maho took her(Shiro's) signature stamp and approved of Maho's decision or in the alternative: allowed Maho to take it. Shiro, as a member of the Federation knew the school transfer was happening and that the transfer rules required her signature. Shiro's approval and respect of her younger daughter's skills is shown in response to the Director of the School when he insults Miho's victory in Der Film. Shiro dresses him down after insulting Miho (and by extension Shiro) by claiming Miho's victory was only due to luck.

Personally Second favourite character Absolutely love her still

Maho is such an amazing and well written character. She's a two sided character with how she's originally written as both an antagonist and a caring support figure. She's shown on the outside as cold, intimidating, and stoic, but is far from that deep down. She always cared for and supported Miho, from the very beginning all the way to Der Film, even standing up to her mother in her defense during the Pravda match by convincing Shiho to stay when she insisted on leaving early. That shows just how caring and supportive she is deep down, being confident in Miho even when their mother wasn't. And the scene where Maho covers for Miho when she returns home to protect her and forge their mother's signature shows the lengths Maho will go for the little sister she cares deeply for. And during the first time we see her in person, she never once trash talks Miho, or even insinuate any lack of care for her. She just spoke, either as a question or as a statement, nothing more. And later one we see her respect Miho, during both the Pravda and Kuromorimine matches she she's shown respect to her, and possibly even joy in how Miho found fun in a sport she ran away from. Even after her defeat, she showed respect to Miho, even giving her a smile before she departs with the rest of Kuromorimine. And the scene from after the Saunders match where she gives Mako and Saori her helicopter so they could go to Mako's grandmother when she was in the hospital, and the scene in Das Finale where she gives Erika permission and encouragement to diviate from the traditional Nishizumi style and to find her own Senshado showed just how much she cares for others. The latter especially with how she could tell Erika was struggling with commanding a whole team, with a style that doesn't fit her, so like with Miho is Der Film she encourages Erika to not play by the books and to do what comes naturally and find her own Senshado. And not only is she a great character, but like in the analysis, she's a great tank commander. She never once loses her calm demeanor except in the final gamble to knock out Alice's Centurion in Der Film, where she shows worry for Miho who takes her turn to be the calm, confident one, sure of her plan and ready to do what is needed to win the match. Before that, during the first season and most of Der Film, she's own collectiveness, calmness under pressure, awareness, leads from the front, and the ability to lead and inspire others. I doubt anyone other than Miho would have seen Turtle Team's ambush before it happened like she did. Not to mention her willingness to trust in others like when she willingly submitted command of her team to Miho during Der Film. Maho is the kind of commander anyone would be proud to fight under, I know I would be. All in all Maho is one of the best characters in GuP, and one of the best big sisters in anime. She is well written, multidimensional, caring and supportive to her little sister and to others like Erika, respectful, always willing to help others out whenever needed, always ready to stand up for those she cares for when others put them down, always knows what to say when her friends and sister are feeling doubtful or unsure, and she's also a calm and capable leader when commanding her team, she isn't prideful or arrogant, she's aware of everything around her and the strengths and weaknesses of others and knows just what to say to inspire them. Maho is all that and so much more. I could say more, so so much more, but between what I've already said, the analysis video here, and what we see of Maho throughout the series as a whole, enough has been said already. Plus I'm struggling to come up with more things to say. So I'll just end this here. Maho is easily a top 5 favorite GuP character to me, top 3 more like, and I enjoy every scene she's in. She just steals the show everytime she's on screen. I really hope we see more of her before Das Finale ends. I really want to see Maho again before the show is over. Thanks for such an amazing character analysis of one of GuP's best characters, Ascendant! This was so much fun to watch and think about Maho, who she is, and her impact on the show as a whole. Honestly I think the show once Das Finale is done could get another season or two, or just more specials. For starters we can watch Miho and friends continue to compete in senshado battles against other schools that hadn’t been featured, followed by bringing in new characters to take over the roles of those that have graduated, thus we get episodes of Miho and friends teaching the new characters the ropes and how to fight against veteran schools with Rabbit team taking on a second in command status. This season or specials would also include new tanks being found at the school that would eventually see the senshado team field a full tank team. They could then also make a special about Ooari being picked with perhaps Black Forest and another team to represent Japan in a real multi national tournament where both teams must field full tank teams in order to compete. This would culminate in one episode or special, with the new team members of Ooarii accidentally damaging the PZ.IV during practice to a point that with most of the original automotive club members graduated and the new members still learning the ropes Miho and her crew would have to ride another tank into the upcoming match. The problem that arises is that Ooarii’s tanks are already full and they don’t have the funds or the spare tank’s needed to fill their slot. This leads to Erika giving Miho her original Tiger tank from season 1. A tank we haven’t actually seen but only through flashbacks. This actually has Miho startled for a bit as she hadn’t seen it since the defeat to Pravda, with Erika explaining that everyone after the match and Miho transferring the Tiger tank she used was put in the farthest corner of Black Forest’s tank garage and never touched or spoken about as most of the crews until later thought of Miho’s defeat as such a shame that the tank itself was also at fault so it was put in a place where it wouldn’t be touched or used. Thankfully the automotive club says that they can get it running right away before the match and so Miho since leaving Black Forest rides a Tiger tank into a match. That’s just one of the many things that the writers could do if they wanted to continue as now they could explore the senshado of other nations.
