Girls Und Panzer's Defining Moment 

Kay was a really fun character. It was so nice to see her remind Miho Senshado isn't just about winning. And she really came through for them in Der Film.

Another thing to note about this scene is the music. It is the same music as in the climax when Miho's panzer IV is the last tank against Black Forest academy. Making a connection between the two moments.

Also, Kay not getting mad a Sgt.Oddball after doing some TIHI coldwar spying on Saunders. Usually a person would be Passive Aggressive especially in a highly competative sport. But instead we get a more Relaxed and oddly suprising scene where Kay doesn't mind and makinhg a refference that America is an Open Country (that one didn't age quite so well, did it. Especially in 2017)

I gotta agree with you here. If only I could give this video more likes. Oh well, this comment will do. This entire anime is, as you stated, about sportsmanship, cooperation, and family. And this scene here showed more with so little than what most animes can't show in 12 episodes. It was beautiful and really helped me like Maho as a character. She's arguably one of the coldest characters in the show, rarely showing any expression other than neutral/contempt, but she cares enough to watch over Miho even after she left. It's implied, if not outright confirmed, that she was the one to authorize Miho's transfer to Ooarai. So she does care for Miho even when their mother doesn't see it that way, another bit of evidence is when Maho defended Miho from Shiho during the Pravda match where Shiho wanted to leave after Ooarai was trapped in the church. Just because she's cold, doesn't mean she doesn't have a heart. Maho really is the best sister Miho could have, and an absolute Gigachad in the series. She had no reason to help, no connection to any of the girls besides Miho, and yet she chose to help and say to Erika after her confusion, "This is Senshadou too." Maho is a 20/10 chad big sister, hands down! Loved this video, and love these analysis videos of Girls und Panzer! Thanks for continuing on with this and I can't wait for the next one! After seeing the teaser trailer for Das Finale part 4, my brother noticed in one scene that Turtle Team is missing. This has made us speculate that Momo is the next victim of the White Witch. Making Rabbit Team the leading tank. This would make some great development for Rabbit Team, especially since Shark Team would have to take orders from them. The ones they have been teasing. I know some people are wondering why the White Witch didn't take out the flag tank. My theory is that Mika will not allow an easy win, because it would not be sporting.

What I thought was kind of interesting is that despite Maho being introduced alongside Erika as the bully team, not once do we ever see Maho act with hostility towards Miho. Distance and aloofness, but never hostility. Maho expresses her surprise at Miho still doing tankery, which the music presents as a passive-aggressive dig, reinforced by the (very hostile) way Erika talks to Miho, something which Maho subtly discourages by deciding to leave once Erika starts to spout off. I mean, Maho and Erika probably went to the café to buy something, right? But then, they see Miho and the Oorai girls, and Maho just immediately decides they're leaving the moment Erika opens her mouth. It turns out that Maho, as she always does, means exactly what she says and says exactly what she means (but doesn't always express it in the best way, see: 'Those without something for Christmas, come.'). She is just surprised. When the moment you talk about in episode 6 comes along, the knee-jerk reaction is, 'isn't that a contradiction?' which invites you to look back at the initial confrontation, only to realise 'oh, it wasn't...' Maho was always subtly shifting the board to protect Miho, and it was just so subtle that not even Miho noticed -- which I think might have been intentional on Maho's part.

Can we just take a minute to marvel at Erika's capabilities ? Not just being a capable tankcommander and 2nd in command, but the girl can also fly an antique helicopter. And a Zeppelin in the movie. Good thing she finally loosened up a little and found her own sensha-do. She'll always be in my GuP top 5.

The phrase you are looking for is 'grow a beard.' It's in reference to Riker growing a beard in Star Trek TNG, when the show finally found it's footing. It's the opposite of 'jump the shark.'

Honestly, rewatching the episode I don´t think Maho was at all talking to Miho in the cafe scene (as Erika was), she was judging and sizing up Miho´s new friends to see what kind of people her sister was surrounding herself with after what happened at Kuromorimine. That was why she helped Mako because Mako protected her sister from them and their remarks. In das Movie and as well in several scenes when Maho talks to people and the subject of Miho is brought up, she is overprotective. She blames herself that she couldn´t do anything to make her stay at the her old school (that she failed her as a commander and sister) and she is worried about Miho as she is suffering from PTSD from that match, it´s even stated in game and manga that Koume, one of the operators of the tank crew Miho saved which cost them the championship, is afraid of water after what happened in that match (she is also the only one from that team who stayed in the school. They lost way more people than Miho that match, which also upset her because she didn´t just fail her sister but everyone else as well - she states that several times in the story line of the game dream tank as a matter of fact).

2:45 a bit of extra context here. Spoilers for decade old anime below. . . . . . . When Girls und Panzer was airing, Saki's first season was still fresh. Saki also features a strained elder - younger sister relationship, where the elder sister (Teru) is more accomplished at a competitive game that her family has always done (in this case Mahjong) and is a far more focused on her achievements in competition, in contrast to the main character (Saki) who does not have the same passion that her elder sister shares, and may even have some resentment towards the game because of how hyper-competitive the environment in her family is. In Saki, the relationship between the sisters was outright antagonistic, though it wasn't always that way, and a lot of viewers drew comparisons immediately between the Miyanaga sisters and the Nishizumi sisters. This set up expectations that Maho and her team would be the bully team, and especially the expectation that Maho herself would be antagonistic. A lot of viewers took her stern tone and silent treatment towards Miho as exactly this, even when Erika did most of the taunting, which makes her actions later in the series come as a surprise.

Erika not questioning the order I don't think really serves to soften the audiences view of her. Their system is about structure and order. So, when the commander basically reaffirms her order, Erika complies. But in the very next encounter, at the start of the finals, what does Erika do? She's there, calling it pure luck that this little upstart team has beaten three of the top teams, including the defending champion. And her disdain continues right into the battle. Her very first action in the battle is to try and snipe the flag tank, to end the battle instantly, to put the upstarts in their place. And most of the commands that are aggressive in that battle are issued by Erika, while the more cold logical decisions come from the sister (who embodies the school's teachings... of calm, precision, and order). The show sets up Erika, rather than the sister, as the one to get the audience emotionally invested in wanting to see the "bully school" beaten, while leaving room for the sister as the main/final boss.

One that doesn't get touched a lot that is where the male in this anime? Shenshado is a sport so male have their own tournament and competition, that is why we see all girls here we're seeing the woman side of the sport, the men side apparently is so competitive they're having more school that practice this sport than the female side. If you want to make tank nerd you need tank waifu because having men side of the sport probably not gonna be interesting beside making it into captain Tsubasa kinda anime.

I cant be the only one who gets Itachi Uchiha vibes from Maho.

Man I would love a live action even if the special effects/cgi sucked.
