Gisburn Revisited in 4K. November 2021 Trail Improvements!

It’s Early November 2021 and it’s my 50th birthday, so I decided on a solo return to Gisburn Forest trails after a month or two away from the place and I must say out loud that i absolutely love the improvements and repairs that the trail builders have done to the place.
One of the best just got better in my opinion.
Tip.
Try and engage a high resolution because RU-vid’s default low res looks bloody awful.

Super video Stewart. One of the best I've watched of Gisburn, really shows up the trails. I'm one of the volunteers on the trail building team, thank you for your comments. We try and repair the trails to keep the flow without losing the challenging element of them. I don't know if you've been since this video was done, but, we've now reached the bottom of Home Baked with the repairs and we've even built a little extra section in the middle i think you'll enjoy. Thank you again for your comments.

Hi Stewart, i don't know if you've been to gizzy since you took this video but storm Arwen arrived and created a lot of damage to the trails. Home baked is open now but SHORT CUT and LOG RIDE are completely shut down with fallen trees. it will be a contractors job to clear that. Anyway, we trail builders have started repairs on SIMONS SWAMP and WHELPSTONE and so hopefully make that a better ride.

Hey Stewart (remember me?). Just found your vid after riding the 8 at Gisburn this weekend. I agree with you - even on an ebike uphill home baked used to be impossible - now it's a nice challenge but doable. You did the rock chute on homebaked - I always avoid that! We always park at Cocklet Hill car park instead of the main car park so 28 berms is always our last section and it's had some work done too - great way to finish the day off.

Sorry Rob, missed this comment! Good to hear from you mate. You know what, I find that chute easier than the normla trail! I used to do the normal trail with my daughter and always found it a bit tricker than just hitting the chute!

I would say no. Gisburn has some tricky bits all around it. Best to start off with an easy red like Sherwood Pines, then maybe Thetford, Cannock, and then Gisburn. Dalby was always my favourite, the red was only average difficulty, but the 4 mile black was really good. The main thing Dalby has over everywhere else, is the length, it's 23 mile around the red alone, you soon get extremely fit doing that every week.
