You're the ONLY source I've found for answering key questions about this product. Your approach feels like a good meeting where a technician analyzes the problem and reports back competently on the key pros and cons. No blah, blah, blah and missing key points because that would take a "Field of Focus." Also, there's not a whiff of a kickback arrangement with steamer manufacturers or click bait misleading titles. Thank you.

Thanks for re-visiting it! Looking forward to seeing you go through the requests you're getting! I do use my SteamShot more to help with stubborn cleaning than for sanitizing. I find that it's possible to use gloves with it that help insulate/protect my hands from any heat and allows me to use a bigger brush, towel or sponge.

I am glad you enjoyed this! I agree with you, I don't use my Bissell for sanitizing, it would take too long holding it for 20 seconds and moving it spot to spot.. Good thinking with the gloves, that would help a lot. Thanks for watching! I am editing another Bissell video now that I compare the Bissell, Goo Gone, Lemon Essential Oil, and Goof Off's ability to remove sticky substances and stubborn stains! Stay tuned!

Thanks for doing all these tests to show us! Watching it, I'm wondering whether you're recontaminating the areas when you wipe them dry, either from bacteria on the towel, or the wiping motion. (For instance, the towel you used on toilet handle touches the round part of the handle that you didn't sanitize before touching the part you sampled)

Perhaps Bissell updated their instructions. On 3/11/2024 i purchased the Bissell Power Steamer Extended Reach as you have. I was going over the disinfect instructions on page 8 of the pamphlet and on step 6 it says to apply steam directly above for 45 seconds. This is now more than double the time you said according to your instructions. Makes me wonder if Bissell seen your great videos and decided to do another testing to update their recommendations now for sanitizing! Bissell should compensate you!!! Blessings! 😊

You know for a fact that no one actually using a steam cleaner to sanitise.. say, a hospital, is steaming every inch for 20 seconds. Yet this is the gold standard now in the NHS. My investigations into steam cleaning efficacy have been quite disturbing actually.

Great video, thank you for posting this! I'm curious, have you evaluated the sanitizing effect after a delay? My concern is that plating the samples from the recently sanitized area on the nutrient-rich agar may artificially rescue a portion of the bacteria that would otherwise have not survived. It would be interesting to see the results after a 2-4 hour delay, and it would even fit with your plating scheme; B: before, A: after, C: control, D: delay. Again, great video!

Hello! Thank you so much for watching! I haven’t tested much on the removal of bacteria during tub cleaning, but I have conducted some soap scum tests. With little kids I think the most important thing to do when cleaning a tub no matter what product you use is the rinse extra thoroughly after cleaning. I am currently editing a video cleaning my tub with vinegar and dishsoap, which might be of interest to you, that will be finished and released on Wednesday this week. My personal favorite tub soap sum cleaner is CLR Brilliant Bath but it is NOT considered a non-toxic cleaner. I dunno how true this is, but I have heard that bathrooms are generally harder to disinfect than anywhere else. Have you tried it for longer than the recommended 20 secs? Maybe a full minute and see any difference? Want to ask if this steam cleaner can be used as a mop??? I'm here to see if this is worth buying.
@FieldOfFocus
@FieldOfFocus 2 года назад
Hello! I have found from my bacterial testing that the drain in my kitchen sink is the toughest place for me to disinfect. If you have a look at cleaner bottles, some will list the type of bacteria that they have been tested to eliminate. So a kitchen cleaner may have different bacteria than a bathroom cleaner.. or a multipurpose cleaner. For example Pine-Sol says "Kills 99.9% of germs*" so that * then says "Salmonella enterica, Staphylococcus aureus, and Influenza A." That is it .. just 3! So if your bathroom, for instance, has some germ other than these 3, Pine-Sol won't disinfect it. It is totally possible that the bathroom is the toughest place to disinfect, but I am confident that there are some great bathroom cleaners out there! As for holding the steamer for more than 20 seconds, I have not tested that out yet with petri dishes, mostly because I think it isn't practical to shoot the steam at such a small spot for a minute then move it a little, spray for another minute.. it would take hours to disinfect my kitchen sink! It is something that I do want to try, so it is on my list! As for using this as a mop... I don't think it would be easy to use as a mop, as the attachments that came with mine are small, and I would have to be on hands and knees since the hose isn't super long. I do I have a Shark Steam Mop that I haven't tested yet.. (it is on my long list of products to test!). I do love using the handheld steamer for removal of sticky residue, gooey spills, and it works really well removing bathtub scum (just takes a long time). I love my floor steam mop for quick cleanings in between bigger scrubbings. I do still have to test floor cleaners! oh that is an entire new area for me to explore!! I appreciate your thoughts!!! Thank you so much for commenting!!

@@FieldOfFocus so a few months ago, I happened to catch the cleaning people using our bottle cleaner sponge (for adult water bottles no baby involved its a round sponge on a stick) to clean the sink drain because it was left out. I cannot even begin to imagine how sick we could have gotten had we used it to clean our water bottles after that. I of course replaced it. I have since read that even if you boil a sponge, you'll never rid it of bacteria, wondering if that's true.

Hi there! I did have a chance to look at the site and watch a few videos. It seems like a decent steam mop. It has lots of attachments to be used on a variety of surfaces, and what I think is clever is that it is both a steam mop and handheld steamer. I can’t say if their claim “ *Controlled lab tests have shown that when applied for 15 seconds, H2O steam products can kill 99% of certain germs, bacteria and viruses. Efficacy varies according to treatment time and surface treated.” is worthy of real world tests, I would be happy to test it sometime. If you want to have one sent to me my mailbox address is in the description of the video, just scroll down to find it. If you do decide to send me one to test out, send me an email (in the description also), so I know to look out for it.
