I have the same style mixing valve and wonder if you’ve run into the problem I have. A slightly different setup. Shower head only, no faucet. The screw for the hot side is turned to off while the cold is turned to the on position. When i turn the handle slowly, the cold water flows as expected. As i turn the handle towards hot, the water shuts off (screw is in closed position). However, as I turn the water off slowly, the cold water does not flow again. If I try again to slowly turn the water on, the cold water no longer flows. My only solution at this time is to open the hot water supply by loosening the screw. It seems to reset things. Is it possible that there is a water pressure issue (too little/too much) that would cause this issue? It’s driving me crazy trying to figure out. Thanks!

Yes sir! the water pressure on these things are horrible (too little). It seems as though, by your description, the mixer valve does not have enough pressure to kick back into the cold "gear". But, when you turn on the hot valve, that pressure (along with the cold water) is enough to allow the mixer to work properly. There truly is no fix for this, but to replace the set up with something that allows for more GPM. I love my moen and will soon switch out this fixture for a moen posi temp valve (there are literally tons of different styles). I bought this house as a flip and discovered all the short cuts.

Awesome video + walkthrough! My landlord sent a plumber by to fix this exact issue (I wish I had looked this up beforehand) and he managed to: 1. not fix the problem, and 2. make it so there is NO water coming out of the faucet at all... Neither of the cutoff screws is tight and the water to the rest of the house is on, but no water to the bathtub faucet. Do you have any idea what he might have done so I can fix it?

Ok, So will water come out when the plastic cartridge is removed? if yes then you just need a new cartridge. if not, then you will have to do some process of elimination. Are the screws completely loose? (sometimes they get jammed up and feel like they are loose when they really aren't.) If they are completely loose it may be time to crawl under the house and make sure the water lines are still connected (This is a looooooong shot but worth a check). Your valve could also have a blockage in it as well. I just said screw it and put in a whole new valve. I hate glacier bay and will never. ever recommend them

@@josephgaribaldi8496 you’re the MVP! Thanks so much for the reply. Thankfully, water does come out when I remove the cartridge. Off to Amazon I go! Thanks again for the time & money you’ve saved me & others!!

What happens when you do this, cut the water on using the screws while the faucet is off - but the water continues to come of the shower head?

Hopefully you figured this out, My guess is a bad mixing valve, not the cartridge. These glacier bay models suck. The screws become stripped and overall the whole unit fails in 2 years (again based on my experience. I bought this house "flipped" and have been dealing with low quality fixtures for a bit, both showers failed in 2 years) I switched to all moen Posi temp fixtures and never looked back.
