The trailer look decent, then HipHop started playing. Face Palm. Denzel is awesome. Pedro Pascal is a good actor. Hope the movie does well and I hear good word of mouth. We didn't need a sequel though
@rcnelson you are correct.The original still holds up and has an incredible story. It won't be beaten. But if for some miracle it does, then kudos lol. Bur unlikely
I heard Djimon Hounsou was coming back with Connie Nielson, but he's nowhere to be found in the trailer. Looked it up and Wikipedia said he had to drop out for scheduling :( The other actors are great, and I would normally be super excited to see Denzel and Joseph Quinn play total psychos, but I sadly will probably spend the whole movie lamenting Hounsou's absence.
For me, Denzel Washington looks the Best thing about the Movie. He brings Quality to every role. Because of Denzel I'll be in the Que to see it in the Cinema.

@@redbarchetta8782 Its Ridley Scott, he has always been very open on taking liberaties in regards to historical movies. Don't know why people are still surprised as far as he is concerned the historical context is just the setting for his own story that He wants to tell.

Kind of on the fence about this -- Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal and Ridley Scott generally deliver but how will it stack up against "Gladiator" (2000). 🤔

Oh no, that is no gladiator. C'mon guys, have you seen the original??? That is non-comparable. No, no, no... Just leave those great movies alone and let them be one of a kind, meant to be seen by generations to come. We don't need chapters 2 and 3 and 4 or prequels and all that sh.. How come they never create an original now? There are so many stories untold, books to be made into movies, legends/myths, etc. Just make something new, ok?
I had grave misgivings when I heard about this - agreeing with many of you that the original "Gladiator" was complete and excellent and needed no sequel - but this trailer has me thinking that it might be very good indeed.
Denzel was able to pull it off in the remake of Magnificent7. Let's hope he pulls this one off also, though it'll need a miracle considering the aura of Original Gladiator.
Looks like a well made Ridley Scott film with a decent cast, but don't see what it adds to the original. Probably lead to a good rainy weekend viewing.
I too taught it was fanmade trailer I thought it was a joke .it's looks like those superficiel insipid insignificant movies like the 2 hercules and denzel keeps his equalizer era in a roman movie
y'all don't show the whole movie in the trailer. also, do better on plot there are WAY too many plotlines going here! Gladiator was such a classic in part because it had such a clear defined story!
What the hell! Now don't get me wrong the first Gladiators was inaccurate and I will forever rant about it, but for the love of God two is messed up!!!!!! The visual effects looks amazing, but what the hell with the rest!!! Also if you want to put Denzel Washington in ancient times, why couldn't it be a accurate movie about a certain time period of the Egyptians and or Nubians!?!?!
I wasn't going to go to this after that turd Ridley Scott put out in "Napolean" then I saw the Naval Battle. To think that they may have actually flooded the place for something like that is incomprehensible. Hope this movie is at least decent.
I'm a little apprehensive about this movie having essentially the same plot as the original, but I'm still looking forward to it. Ridley is a very hit-or-miss filmmaker, but he's got a solid cast and some awesome cinematography backing him up. I'm ready for him to unleash hell.

Could be, but only thanks to Greece, I believe when Alexander the Great of Macedonia went to Africa had to encounter them, although Greeks were not slave owners as Romans, but after Greece was conquered everyone became Roman empire slaves.
So the trailer looks sick, but if you take away all the references of the first film, this would be still sick as a separate film. But Denzel feels so out of place here, he's using his bobby beans 2Guns acting, when I feel like we should be getting his Man On Fire acting.
I feel like this is unwriting everything Maximus did. To me this looks like crap. Maybe it will be good but they should have made it singular from Gladiator. They're gonna ruin everything.
There is no one in the movie who is actualy from Rome or Italy ,it is realy stupid from Hollywood producers to make historical movies from tales from Europe ,Middle east ect. with Americans only .
I don't like the music for this, but the film looks good, so I will give it a chance. If it's bad, that's fair enough, bash it, but I'm sick of people gatekeeping past films. Can you imagine if they went to make Empire Strikes Back today? "The first one was perfect; what a cash grab; why bother" I don't see it matching the first one; a lot of classics come out with the right cast and, at the right time, a bit of magic, but I will gladly settle for "A good" film.
?? Gotta say they miscast Denzel Washington in this movie... not sure what is more distracting, his loud NY accent or his massive glow in the dark teeth. (Of course rich Romans all had their teeth covered in glow in the dark porcelain veneers!)
