Great job. Considering buying. One concern. Is it possible that my garage beams are not same distance apart as the rack? Is there an installation alternative in this case?
Thanks! If your home is fairly modern the ceiling joists are probably in the ballpark of 16” on center. The mounting plates that screw into the joists are about 24” long and have lots of holes in them for fine adjustment. For what it’s worth… This system comes with four 24”x48” panels and six vertical supports and corresponding angle members to screw into the ceiling. It’s fairly easy to configure it as you like, for example I did it as a 4’x8’ shelf. You can also technically do 2’x16’, two separate 4’x4’, etc. The limiting factor (out of the box) is the number of vertical supports they give you. I believe you can buy (or make if you are handy enough) additional supports which would allow even more flexibility in how you configure it. Let me know if you have any other questions. I’m not trying to sell the darn things lol. Just like helping others.
@HonorGuard Went to your page for videos to reference on "How To" videos or any videos that I could locate for reference how things could or should be done... Didn't locate any, can you direct us how it is done? Or are we just making FaceBook comments to arm chair?
Thanks for the helpful video 👍 To secure the lag bolts to the joist, it looks like you used a drill rather than a socket wrench. If so, could u confirm which drill attachments are needed for that?
Thanks Dan! I used a 20v impact driver with a nut driver. Can’t recall the exact size. I suggest drilling some pilot holes first and they’ll go right in.
@@AdamEisan Thanks for the insight Adam! I've never used that before but it's helpful to know the tool needed. I'm going to try installing my 2 gladiator racks with a socket wrench since I don't have an impact driver but we'll see how my wrist feels after the 1st rack is up!
Ha… Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s needed, but definitely faster. If using a wrench, for sure put some pilot holes and it shouldn’t be too tough. Just might take a little longer. Good luck!
