@@WhyIsGamora109 I said slightly. Black actor in a sandals and swords film: put on Jay-Z! lol I mean slightly only because I doing think they’re doing it consciously.
The music kinda ruins the trailer for me. Great shots, great actors - but they seem to market it as a "cool event movie" I'd rather see them commit to selling this as the epic drama that it will hopefully turn out to be. I really miss this epic feel of movies from the 2000s like Gladiator, Troy, 300 etc
I really hope Joseph and Fred steal this show. Could barely recognise them and I’ve loved everything they’ve starred in. I smell multiple Oscar’s all round for this movie. Dune might have its match.
From Normal People to The Lost Daughter to God's Creatures to Aftersun to All Of Us Strangers to Gladiator 2 I'm definitely loving the rise of Paul Mescal's acting talent 🙌
I had my reservations about the film. I saw the trailer 4 times already and I loved it. Denzel is my favorite actor and Ridley Scott is one of my favorite filmmakers. I saw the set photos over the weekend. Lets go 🗡⚔️🗡⚔️🗡⚔️🗡⚔️
I have mixed feelings about this film, I am kind of excited to see this but at the same time... did we really need a sequel? The first film is one of the greatest films of all time, so this movie has a lot and I mean a lot to live up to. The actors are great (Pedro Pascal, Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen (Returns to reprise her role as Lucilla) and Ridley Scott is returning to direct a sequel (Which is a good sign I guess) but I don't know... I don't really know what to think about this one. Either way, I will be seeing it that's for sure.
@AustinBurke Well, at this point, we just have to wait and see what Ridley has in store for us this time. I really hope this movie does well and ends being one of the best films of this year.
Looks really good! Still have my reservations knowing Ridley Scott’s track record, but curious. Especially Denzel chewing it up. Though I would’ve done without the Jay Z and Kanye song in the trailer 😂
I can tell you for a full fact right now that as a marketing guy, what would have made this trailer even better is if they shrunk it down in its length and if they used a better song to represent the Gladiator theme. Not everything needs a rap song I’m sorry. Other than that, the movie looks really awesome!😅
Dune 2 will face off against Gladiator 2 before it can officially claim the crown. Although I am confident that Dune 2 will emerge victorious, it will be an epic battle.
Are you not entertained? I love the original film like everyone else, but I never once thought that it needed a sequel! But here we are all these years later regardless. I’m not going to lie, I think this looks pretty good! But Ridley Scott doesn’t have the best track record lately so I will remain nervously optimistic. Strength and honour!
Look, Gladiator 1 is already a perfect movie that didnt need a sequel. That said, I like what i see in this trailer. It peak my interest, despite this god awful music. DONT SCRW THIS UP!! Also, my boi Denzel is DENZELING AS FK in this and I LOVE IT! HAHAHAH Pedro Pascal is looking amazing also. I REALLY HOPE Maximus kid isnt the bratt vilain from this trailer (Joseph Quinns character). Kid was a good one. Dont destroy his character. Thats it. Ty.
What made Gladiator such an amazing movie wasn't the spectacle but Russell Crowe's spectacular acting. That scene where Maximus finds his family was gut-wrenching; you wanted Maximus to get justice for his family. This sequel seems less character-driven and more about "showy" action sequences. The whole vibe of the sequel just seems so drastically different from and in contrast to the serious, emotion-based journey of the original film. (Also, what is up with the out-of-place hip-hop music for the trailer?)
I feel like people are way too harsh on the trailer. Yes the music choice is odd, but a lot of trailers have really questionable music choices, and people are acting like its going to be in the movie! Unless this is a baz luhrman movie which its not. And none of the great historical movies have ever been historically accurate, the first gladiator, braveheart, troy, kingdom of heaven. All of them had complaints of "historical accuracy". We are getting more sword and sandal movies in Rome! What more can I ask?
It looks really cool. I still have a couple of reservations, but I think it could be a good maybe even a great film. I won’t say it’s my most anticipated movie of the year (that would still go to Deadpool, My Hero Academia You’re Next, Alien Romulus, and Lord of The Rings), but I definitely am looking forward to this movie now 👍
I dont think this trailer proves mescal has a strong screen presence like crowe….its all the fanfare of the giant coliseum, costumes, etc that ur reacting to. I think need to see more to say that. That being said, and i may be biased, but i think pedro pascal has that screen presence.
It's probably a pointless sequel nobody asked for similar to Independence Day: Resurgence (2016). Then again, I didn't expect much from Cobra Kai or Top Gun: Maverick and they went well beyond my expectations. Eddie Munson from Stranger Things is a busy man. From A Quiet Place: Day One trying to save a cat to looking like Robert Downey Jr. wearing a Cersei Lannister wig. 😂 It's from Ridley Scott. It's 50-50 flip a coin stuff coming from him. Napoleon was a beautiful movie but was not a good movie.
Rap song does not belong in this trailer. Gladiator my #1 movie for 24 years now. I know it won't be as good as the original but I'll enjoy it for what it is.
From Zimmer to Jay-Z... I absolutely was jarred outta that trailer's gorgeous and impacttful visuals and dialogue at the moment Kanye and Jay-Z was interjected for no reason other than to contemporize it for the mooks and middriffs. It even got in the way of the actors lines fer Chrissakes! What a stupid choice made by Paramount's marketing mavens. Their MBA's don't make them creative arbiters for the masses as much as they may think they are.
The original movie was much more than blood, carnage and mayhem... it's actually the first movie (and one of the rare ones) to have made me cry. It's a deep, touching story with complex characters. and i hope the sequel will be just as character driven, and not just big action set-pieces just for the sake of it. I like bloody battles as much as the next dude, but Gladiator didn't win the Best Movie Oscar because of those. And WTF with the music in that trailer? The Original's soundtrack was magistral, why not re-use it here... why modern hip hop bullshit? When it kicked in, i just rolled my eyes and cringed instead of having shivers and teary eyes...
Okay set aside music etc. I think the BIGGEST problem is that the trailer is too revealing? Shouldn't have looked at it, I feel as if I was literally spoiled the whole movie. Won't be recommending it to anyone purely because it's way too revealing. Poor job, whoever did this trailer. Very poor.
Rap music was an odd choice. The trailer is sitting at 37% dislikes, I think people are tired of rap in everything too make things seem more diverse. It just doesn't match the Roman Empire theme, hopefully there is none in the movie (but it will definitely hit when the credits roll, undoubtedly). A little extra love from the critics for the DEI
Hans Zimmwr crying in his cornflakes listening to that hip-hop music and Denzel speaking in a New York accent in Ancient Rome ...... Give me a break 👎👎👎
I hate modern music in epic period pieces. Can’t stand it. You cannot amerce yourself in that world with a modern song, it just throws everything off. 👎🏻
Sorry dude, I can’t take you seriously. I can almost see through the excited facade you’re putting on. Trailer looks like crap and the music choice is awful.
@@AustinBurke I will to have him remove my eyes before I get a chance to see this horrible sequel. not sure if this comeback makes any sense but hey, couldn't think of anything else more clever. If anyone else wants to make up a better one I'm all ears (won't have any eyes soon)
I have bad feeling about it Ridely Scott has not delivered any big hit in years his alst attempt for period drama failed miserably with last duel, although trailer look cool but I'm not sure movie will be received well by audience
