The same thing always happened on classic Gladiators, especially with Wolf. People are so miserable and critical of the slightest thing these days and look at past seasons of Gladiators with rose-tinted goggles. The new series is getting 8 million + live viewers with each episode so it's clear that the vast majority love the new series of Gladiators.

There's actually a decent chance this wasn't scripted. The Gladiators were clearly furious the previous contender got through so quickly and it's not been a good game for the Glads in general. I feel like this was a protest by the girls. None of them seem "polished" here except of course Sabre who is naturally very charismatic.

1st paragraph - Brontë shouldn’t be competing against someone who lost in the heats. 2nd paragraph- how can they bring in someone who was never in the heats to compete . Where should they get replacements from?

@@Dragonovaa They could have gotten the second fastest runner up from the heat or even the third fastest one. You know? Someone that had actually competed on the heat. I didn’t contradict myself, the contenders who originally lost should be the ones competing against each other.

@@RatedRRaj cool what confused me was when you said Brontë should not be facing someone who originally lost. (Runner up). Runners up should be the first choice for replacement I agree. But there should always be a slot for the fastest loser in the heats. So both contenders always have a reason to push to finish. That being said Wesley did put on good show. Insane that Finley made up a 12 second deficit . yes we all know he would have won had he been able to compete in the gauntlet.

@@Dragonovaa For the first statement my point is that the two fastest runner ups should be the ones competing against each other, not a winner from the heat competing against someone who lost regardless of whether they were fastest runner up or not. But looking at it again I see why it makes sense now since there are 5 winners (both male and female) and therefore one of them will have to end up facing a runner up and not another winner. That’s just to do with the first point I made. What you said there is exactly what I meant, “But there should always be a slot for the fastest L in the heats”. Exactly so, which brings out the question to me as to why on Earth they decided to bring a contender who didn’t even have to go through the heat. Would you not call that an unfair advantage? I’m talking about Wesley here. Unless I missed some episode where he did originally compete or something I am still bewildered as to why they didn’t contact any of the other contenders who lost or those that were the second or third runner ups etc instead to take Finlays (the injured one) spot. After all the Wesley guy wasn’t just one off competing for fun, but he’s actually on the semi’s now when he didn’t even have to originally go through the heat. I know I’m probably coming off as ranting here but I like to take this kind of competition seriously lol, it’s more than just fun and games to me haha. But yea he was rather good though.

@@RatedRRaj it’s was really odd they didn’t, perhaps all the fastest losers declined? Or were unable to make it. They should have explained more why he was there and not a runner up. I would say Wesley had a bit of disadvantage, as he never got to try the games in the heats. But then he was less at risk of getting injured so a little fresher . So maybe it evens out.

On the contrary, it's having the opposite of the desired outcome, I'm actually put off watching it now because I don't believe they are acting at this point. My only continuing interaction with the show is this discussion... which I think is probably about to come to an end with us agreeing to disagree and moving on having realised that none of this actually really matters. In answer to your initial comment, I don't watch wrestling, I think it's silly. And I am able to differentiate between a character portrayed by an actor, and the actor themselves (in most cases)... but then I do believe actors are indeed, acting.

@@archnme89 quite funny you find wrestling silly, but don't believe these guys and gals are acting. Id love to know what kind of people you come across if having such a massive ego and giving yourself a name superheros would cringe it is just the norm 😂 A few of them have even done actual acting gigs, while others have done interviews for other projects where surprise surprise they come off as actual human beings nothing like their gladiator character. Plus tbf the entire show is aimed mostly at kids or families with kids, I've got a feeling you don't quite fit that demographic so characters designed to make children mad probably won't have the same desired impact on yourself. Take what people say about tom and jerry, where kids a rooting for the mouse but once you grow up a bit you start to feel sorry for tom. Theres some toddlers who will refuse to watch shows because it's for 'babies' as they've realised it's not aimed at them anymore as they've aged

At the same all the contenders are told the rules OVER & OVER AGAIN about Injuries & Substitutions, if it was in the rules at the time of recording that they can bring in a Fresh Contender for the Quarter-Finals, especially if none of the other runners-up are available it is totally in the rules

No one should have a free ticket to compete in the quarter finals. It should have already been someone who has cut the mustard! The fact he won as well was an absolute p**s take.

tbf even the male gladiators haven't put up much of a fight, this version of Gauntlet, with rules *against* actually stopping them, is a bit of joke.

I think it's because the one contenders leg thing and being replaced has basically nullified this part of the competition, so they just did everything for show, like this or the other contender forfeitting for no reason only to catch up on a 25 second gap etc. The show needed to go on, so they made one.
