Cats definitely have awareness of others! I have 4 cats and when I'm preparing their food, I give the younger cats food first because they scream in my face if I'm 2 minutes late. My senior cat eats special food so I feed him last because it takes me a few more minutes to prepare his food. 1 of my younger cats will take a few bites of his food, look at his senior brother, stop eating, and then go sit next to his senior brother and then look at me like, "he wants food too." And once I put his senior brother's food down, they both start eating together. I've also asked 2 of my cats where their senior brother is and they have both led me to where he was sleeping. They're definitely more aware than most people think.
I have no doubt, because he's not just jumping all over the buttons. He always thinks very carefully before using them, so that he can use his words to say exactly what he wants to say. I think it's amazing that he can use such a limited number of words to express himself.
AHA!!! Proof positive that animals talk to each other. AND have feelings and empathy for one another. All us pets lovers knew this, but now it's provable. Good job, Todd.
I doubt they can "talk" to each other, in this case keen observation skills more likely the reason. In the same way you can infer that someone's gait is off, and deduce by the way that someone is walking if their back hurts or they leg hurts. What this type of videos show is that their cognitive skills, deductive skills, and emotional intelligence are more sophisticated than ever imagined. Language skills may be latent, although rather than language itself I guess it would be better to frame it as semantic and semiotic processing which is equally fascinating.
@@xantiom Yes, but just to put it in layman’s terms, they do “communicate” with each other nonverbally and vocally. Humans are still trying to learn all the subtle nuances of their language. ❤
Todd speaks English as though it's a language where syntax doesn't matter similar to Latin. It's very handy that he can tell you when one of his kitty friends is sick or hurting. I like how he stares at you to see if you heard and understood him. I'm glad Glamour is feeling better.
That's also something that I observed with Billi from billispeaks. Yoda like grammar. object + subject + verb and verb + object seems to be most common.
The use of words tied explicitly to things and linked not by sentence but by stressing them, repetition, and deliberate ordering to cause inferred meanings of more detailed concepts is one of the oldest and most core forms of all language. Todd is absolutely learning how to share words for things with a human being. Seeing a cat be able to speak a mutual language efficiently for both species to this degree is so fascinating and so beautiful.

Tuxedo cats are known for being very smart. Todd here is off the charts smart. He's the Albert Einstein of kitties. I read an article that said some cats and dogs are as smart as a 2 year old human.

I honestly treated up when Todd pushed want and happy, that's 100% showing empathy. So happy Glamour is feeling better and that Todd is telling you. It's amazing Todd can tell how his siblings are feeling too, definitely a great investment these buttons.
...Just in awe of Todd's reasoning!😻 His limited button vocabulary is falling short... but it's possible to 'hear' that there's amazingly developed brain work going on. And in a surprisingly human-like manner. There's continuity (in a topic/storyline), concern, wishes... And how on earth did he know that Glamour's back wasn't happy?😳 ...and not just that, but her pain became a concern for Todd.
Todd likes to talk about before then after, especially if the before was "bad" and the after "good." Very cute. I bet you were so happy to hold and cuddle Glamour. 😁 I am glad Glamour is better.👍

What a good boy Todd! I cannot get over the intenseness of his face when he's trying to tell you something! I have seen this look before from a couple of my cats and I always felt like they were trying to tell me something! My sweet Addison that I lost this past February, was really good at communicating with me through eye contact. We had a very strong connection and I miss her dearly ❤ Cats are the best!!

Amazing ,not only was Todd able to alert you to Glamour's pain, he was clearly showing concern and a little tension in his body posture while telling you, then visibly relaxed once he knew you understood. It's great that he was able to ask for help for her and that she's feeling better now.
Good news, nice you got to hold her for awhile with the pain meds👍🏼. Dr. Todd has done a good job recognizing her distress and helping her get treatment.🥰🙋🏼♀️
Too funny, Glamour is so particular about 'her'; I'd steal a snuggle when she was drugged too. Although in the second pick, it's pretty obvious she's alert enough to put a "no I do not care to be fluff mashed, enuf now" lol Glad her back is better and good thing Todd keeps you up to date with everyone's ouches.

Cats we’ll hide pain until they can not. Maybe glamour allowing you to hold her was due to her not feeling pain? Who knows how kind she hid her condition! I know my dog no longer allows me to cuddle with him very much due to his arthritis bothering him. I’m just glad she’s feeling better, and to hear Todd say that he just wanted her happy… ugh, my heart!
I had a long haired Tortie who was exactly the same as Glamour. I had her Mom so watched her being born, but she looked disgusted if you touched her fur. My boyfriend said "maybe she was mistreated as a kitten". I was "I've had her since she was born, she's always been the same😂😂". She let you stroke her on her terms only untill our son was born then she became really soppy and cuddly and would let him carry her around.
So very happy that Glamour's back is happy. Thank you, Todd and Dad, for looking after her. She's paying Dad with the cuddles and even though it was a result of the pain meds, it was well worth it. Thank you, Dad, for keeping us in the loop 😊
"Glamour before happy ouch" I read this as: Glamour ouched before she was happy. I am glad she feels better and that Todd diagnosed her with such precision. It's amazing he knew where the pain came from.
I gave my cat CBD oil every day when she got older and had cancer. I think it extended her life. She recently went back to the collective. She was 17 years old. Todd is amazing!!
