Glasgow's weather can be a bit changeable at times, so the best activities are indoors. Another bonus is when entry is free. At Glasgow's West End is the Botanic Gardens, which features the amazing Kibble Palace. The Botanic Gardens include semi-arid, carnivorous and succulent plants, as well as hundreds of ferns. This is a great place to spend a few hours, expecially in winter when the air outside if cool, and the air inside is lovely and warm. Also, what lurks behind the bushes? @GlasgowBotanic

Walked the tunnel from gardens to Kelvinbridge station bout 1972.it was great adventure .

Its a low level Railway behind the bushes. There was once a Station there when the Trams ran past there. You can still see the platforms underneath a steel grid.

Just been. My top tip is to go very early as you'll see staff watering the plants which makes the atmosphere very humid and atmospheric.

It's a train station. Craig Robertson has written a crime novel about urbexing and he mentions the station in the book. I was also watching another vlog about Glasgow this morning which again mentioned the station.

Is it true the there is microclimates in GB that has palm trees outside year round

I think I have read that somewhere, and if so, it would be in Cornwall, in the extreme southwest corner of the UK. That's the first point of contact with the Gulf Stream, and so snow is rare, and the climate is temperate year round. Even the coast west of Glasgow is influenced by the Gulf Stream. Again, snow is rare, and people love to grow exotic plants and trees outside their houses.

There are plenty of palm trees growing on the west coast of Scotland, both on the mainland and on the islands. Not sure what variety they are but they don't have coconuts or dates growing on them! The Gulf Stream keeps the climate temperate and while our summers are not particularly hot, the West Coast and Islands don't get too cold in winter with very few hard frosts on the coast.
