Great idea, however I was going to say if you center the gate on that aisle, make the aisle and gate wide enough to back the side by side in between the boxes. simplifies the process of bringing in dirt/mulch/ and hauling out plant carcasses in the end. Hard to tell on video the distance they painted.

JudithB I put in box beds this past winter and they did well this summer. I have 2 4x 32' and I got cow panel arches over the path between those two beds. Tomatoes are almost to the top on one side and beans up the other side and crawling down the other side. Peppers are in the same row with the beans, and I put a water ditch down the center of each bed which I flood with water. This didnt leave much water for weeds but watered everything else well. The Hummingbirds and dragonflies zip through the arches, and fun to watch. I paint tractor pins bright red so easy to find when they fall out!!!

We have a large garden with fourteen 4 ft x 12 ft garden boxes. We put some of them 2 feet apart and some 4 feet apart. After two years of gardening, we are thinking when we build out new garden, we will build them SIX FEET apart (4 ft apart at the bare minimum). The reason is that our garden has been extremely successful and the garden boxes overflow with vegetables, with many of the plants spilling into the walkways and making it hard to access the plants on all sides. More room is better! Also, we surrounded our garden with 6 ft tall horse fence (2 inch by 4 inch mesh). We haven't had any problem with deer and we live in a forested area with a ton of them.

Been here since the beginning brother. Felt compelled to comment for the first time. I am in pest control. Gotta a golden rule for ya. “Keep all foliage 3ft away from the perimeter of your home”. That includes trellises. Essentially you are inviting pest activity via bridge from foliage. Spiders, ants etc. it’s a pleasure to watch you hash it out and complete projects. You do it right! Thank you.

When I worked landscape construction we typically just used hand trucks with straps or brute force for flagstone. Then again we often said the only thing needed to work landscape construction was "strong backs and weak minds" perhaps bring in some bigger rock and do a water feature near your flagstone patio, you can really ad some tranquility in not that big of a space.

10:48 personally for me, I’d want to show off the garden and greenhouse; so I’d go with a Colonial Gothic/French Colonial Gothic style 3ft - 4 ft (2 rail) picket fence (with around 1½ - 2 in spacing) that gives you a fence, but will allow you to see and show-off THAT BEAUTIFUL GARDEN AREA. Naturally, can play w/ picket spacing and if want a more “private” garden area (like your own personal Oasis Hideaway) do a 4 ft - 6 ft fence w/ board on board dog ear pickets or other similar type. But, it all depends on what “LOOK & FEEL” you & Mrs. W want to achieve with garden area, that when that’s figured out; would give ya a better sense to what the area “needs” for its fence. Know sounds weird, but I like to “read” the project/area and “let it speak to what it should be”…..(same thing when installing tile, flooring, etc…). But if you are dealing w/ wildlife maybe a 6 ft Lattice or Louver Fence to keep them out; but still have the ability to “see” the garden thru the fence, along w/ adding a different unique look of its own 🤔 As can “see” what everything will look like already, actually seeing a completed project is “magical” and still the best part of the job…..never gets old, finishing a job and doing final walk through and looking at what it was to is now; just so magical, imo…😊 God Bless✌🏻

My garden area is 16ft x 16ft using hog panels as the fencing. Posts were 8ft with 2ft in the ground one on each corner. The hog panel fencing gives rigidity to the whole thing. Then I put string all the way around the top of the garden on the posts. Deer think the fence is a solid 6ft tall and won't jump it. I bet your biggest problem will be rabbits. So put chicken wire around the garden on the hog fencing. So far so good.

I'm from northern Maine and rhubarb does very well..... so well I recommend putting it under the roof were the snow load covers it and holds it back some in the spring by the time the snow melts so you still have some for when strawberries come in.

That is going to be very nice. It is good to have a fence around the garden. One thing I have learned over the years about deer. You can plane all the "deer don't like plants" you want, BUT you better plant more than you think you need, because they have to take a bite to see if it is edible or not, and after the whole herd takes a bite, there goes the plant!! Going to be real nice.
