Finally a reactor who appreciates Peg as much as I do. She's got her own separate movie going on in the background that's hilarious.

Benoit said he’s “very bad at dumb things” which is why it took him so long

I’ll be honest, the scene where Benoit is super angry and shouting « It’s just DUMB! » is seriously now my favorite gif reaction. XD And yes, I suspected Myles the SECOND he used the wrong word « inibreathed » (or whatever non-word he said). XD I’m happy you caught it too. And yeah, seeing him falling like that was EXTRA satisfying.

Fun fact about this movie, Noah Segan, who played trooper Wagner in the first movie, plays a different character in Glass Onion. Also, Ethan Hawke made a cameo in this movie before he left to film Moon Knight.

Noah Segan has been in pretty much everything that Rian Johnson has directed. He even had a minor role in an episode of Breaking Bad that Johnson directed

Love your reaction, Yasmina. There are a lot of cameos of people playing themselves you might have missed. Of them, four of them are just silly and meaningless to the plot: Benoit is playing Among Us with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (a famous basketball player and subsequent civil rights advocate), Angela Landsbury (a legendary actress with a great singing voice), Stephen Sondheim (one of the most well-regarded musical composers in history -- you might want to check out Sweeney Todd at some point), and Natasha Lyonne (an actress best known for her comedic gifts). However, one of the cameos is actually important. Near the beginning, when the box starts playing music, at Birdie's (Kate Hudson's) party, a man leans in to explain the music that is playing. That man is Yo-Yo Ma, the most well-known / well-respected cellist in the world (and possibly the most well-known classical musician of any instrument in the world). He explains that the music playing is a fugue and then goes on to describe a fugue in a way that foreshadows the entire narrative structure of the film!

There's a through-line on the Among Us cameos too. Abdul-Jabbar has written a mystery novel. Sondheim has written a mystery movie. Landsbury is most known for portraying a mystery solver, and Lyonne does also in Rian Johnson's current TV show "Poker Face." They're basically all sleuths of a sort, so them being in a sort of "mystery club" with Blanc kinda makes sense.

This movie had more humor than the first film which was much more serious. Hugh Grant cameos as Phillip, Blanc's domestic partner, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt voices Miles's clock, the Hourly Dong; Several celebrities make Cameo appearances as themselves, including Stephen Sondheim, Angela Lansbury, Natasha Lyonne, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, playing Among Us. Other Cameos include Yo-Yo Ma, Jake Tapper, and Serena Williams. Sondheim and Lansbury both died before Glass Onion was released and the film is dedicated to both of them.

_The Last of Sheila_ is a 1973 murder mystery that partially inspired _Glass Onion_ . Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim co-wrote it with Anthony Perkins (best known for playing Norman Bates in the _Psycho_ films). Sondheim's cameo as one of the Among Us players was Rian Johnson's way of tipping his cap to the earlier film. I'd love to see your reaction to _The Last of Sheila_ , Yasmina. While it's not as well-known as other mystery films, it is well worth watching.

I just now noticed this: in the scene where Ethan Hawke is shooting that medicine in their mouths, Benoit is the only one who doesn’t gag or react much to it. Rian Johnson confirmed Benoit is supposed to be gay. After connecting those two dots that scene got funnier 🤣

Since you liked these movies I can recommend Poker Face, the TV mystery series RIan Johnson made for Peacock starring Natasha Lyonne. An excellent show that was largely ignored.

The twin sister is impossible to predict, BUT there is a nice clue: just before "Andi" is shot, Blanc calls her Helen (this is the moment that we see again at 21:30 moment). As for Miles killing Duke, there are two huge clues at the time: Miles does hand Duke the glass just like we see again at 22:49 (the 5:07 version is Miles' lie and does not match what was on screen for real moments earlier). Even better, at 15:31 you can very clearly see Duke's phone in Miles' back pocket.

I found knives out to be sort of dry and honestly I figured out who did it right away. It left me unsatisfied. Benoit also was more rude in knives out. I like the southern charm version it's more disarming. No hate though they both have great acting and directing.

This one feels more fun to me than the original. I think it’s funnier and I love the making fun of these “dumb fake geniuses” more than the making fun of rich people in the original. And the twists of the twin halfway through was so cool to me and more creative. The original feels more formulaic murder mystery to me where this subverts it more.

Miles being a combination of all these tech bro billionaires, these self-proclaimed super geniuses, these fake self-made people, and then perfectly mapping onto the ongoing unraveling of Musk’s image as a so-called super genius is the icing on the cake, (even though Miles isn’t meant to be specifically Elon.)

that's the biggest problem people have with this movie, comparing it to the first one. you can use the same recipe as the first one because it wouldn't make it original and would probably made everyone guess the ending easier. I just say "it's different in a good way". I really prefer the first one anyway, but really like this one too. can't wait for the 3rd one.

Great reaction. Also liked Knives Out better, but still very enjoyable. As for other suggestions: since you already did one of my favorite crime mysteries without us (Seven), might I suggest another great one from that same year, "The Usual Suspects" (if you haven't already seen it).

Love both Knives Out & Glass Onion. Personally, I feel like Glass Onion has a bit more of a rewatchability factor for whatever reason. My only gripe with this one was that a handful of moments felt a tad bit over-acted. Really looking forward to the next one in this series, as if I recall correctly Rian Johnson has said this is meant to be an ongoing series!

"Knives Out" is more fun, "Glass Onion" is more interesting (IMO) - KO is Johnson's take on a classic whodunnit whereas GO is a bit more of a deconstruction of them. (classic whodunnits are often about class tension and Johnson gets that more than many US filmmakers i'd say, it's central to both movies. GO especially is only really a mystery _at all_ because everyone assumes Myles is very smart, too smart to, for instance, murder someone he would immediately be suspected of murdering. Why ? Because Myles is rich and especially in the US, rich people are viewed as having _necessarily_ done something special to _earn_ their wealth. Johnson points out that assumption is mostly nonsense - there's _always_ luck and often nefarious dealings, "daddy's money" etc. involved - which for a mainstream US movie is actually fairly subversive)

I prefer Knives Out to Glass Onion. I find Glass Onion relied a *little* too much on showing you false perspective. Like there are two separate shots of Miles giving up his glass, one on the table and one directly in his hand. While that one is forgivable, the one that is NOT is the "pancaked" scene, where the original cuts him off at "outside of" and the reveal cuts him off at "outside of and----". That sort of subtle thing hurts it IMO. Also, I think the Mona Lisa "victory pose" at the end is really boring, the "My House" shot at the end of knives out is way more inspiring. I think they're both good overall though, and am looking forward to the third one!

I totally agree with you about the “pancaked” scene, that one really bugged me because I was trying to solve the mystery on my first watch and I might have figured everything out had I had that one piece of information. I think it’s a bit unfair to NOT show us the clue and then change the audio and pretend that they DID show us lmao. But I guess they weren’t really going for a fair play mystery, just a fun watch. Whatever. I hope they make like 15 of these things lol.

I preferred Knives Out, I didn’t like this ending as much. I expected a Columbo-style reveal of a detail that proved Mikes killed Andi without the napkin. As it is, the rest of the “disrupters” only turned on Mikes for personal reasons. Even after they knew he killed Duke and Andi, they weren’t ready to do the right thing.
