Re: piles next to the hamper. I knew a therapist who posited a genetic link to human organization methods: one either makes piles or puts things “away” (in something, like a hamper). I can’t find any research on this; Google seems quite judgy about the psychology of piles, bringing up only articles about “clutter” (or hemorrhoids). But I’m not sure it’s a clutter impulse. I’m a “put it away” person married to a “pile” person, and to me the piles seem like architectural elements. Walls, or terracing. Or records…like this wall of books is a record of my spouse’s reading over the last two months. Not sure what a sock pile would be, though.

@@AchiorJacobs For me its whatever is more convenient for the thing. Like dirty clothes always go in the hamper, but folded clean clothes dont go into the dresser because opening the door to get to it is an extra unnecessary step.

@Dr. G- This probably isn't what you are thinking in terms of mass vision loss events, but there have been many times in history when there have been outbreaks of the various infectious causes of congenital blindness/cataracts/glaucoma. Those infected would include a number of pregnant women, who would not have vision issues themselves but their children would be born affected. An example is an outbreak of rubella in the US in the mid 1960's that resulted in an estimated 20,000 infants born with Congenital Rubella Syndrome. There was a massive outbreak of syphilis in 1495 among French soldiers fighting in Naples, which must have resulted in a number of infants born with interstitial keratitis and other sequelae of congenital syphilis. There are many other historical examples. I'm a pathologist and I really do have cocoa in my office. I've never named my microscope, but I do have quite a bit of affection for it.

3:17 Everyone remembers that scene from Arachnophobia... Totally tracking with you. You never know what's going to drop down on you while you take a shower. This is definitely an emergency. I mean, what if it's a brown recluse, wolf spider, tarantula, or black widow? Those things can bite and leave venom behind that will paralyze or even kill.

I'm a -9.5 nearsighted (and astigmatism besides) I shave my legs by feel, no chance of seeing where I have or have not shaved. I can't count the number of times I've nicked my ankles because I couldn't see well enough.

I once accidentally washed my hair using dog shampoo (glasses do not work in the shower and I was still not fully awake) and wow, that freshly washed and dried dog shampoo smell lasted weeks dispite daily showering!

I think the sense of touch is top of the heap! :-) Then maybe the sense of smell? (Is this milk spoiled? Is my house on fire?) You need to get Kristen either a spider vacuum or a spider splatter, a spring loaded grid disk that fires at spiders. Two dimensional spiders are good! :-)

Misconception about pathology. I did 2 years of a path residency. Almost all of the most interesting cases in the hospital either have interesting tissue or interesting labs. And the doctors are constantly asking you questions about it. And surgeons love to come down and look at the the specimen in the microscope with you and see why you call it an amelanotic malignant melanoma.

@dglaucomfleckin I have Harvest Spiders (Daddy Long Legs, but they look different from the DLLs that we grew up living with) in my bathroom, and they hang out in the shower, in the corner. We have an agreement: I've told the spiders "you stay there, and don't touch me"....sometime this month, I was showering, back to water, and this tiny DLL came down on its silk, and damn-near (perner, as Grandma used to say), crawled on my boob. I gasped, used telepathy to communicate with the DLL, and she/he spun back up on her silk immediately. And now I see what I think is an egg sack under the lights in my bathroom. Okay, Charlotte, you win. At least the DLLs eat bugs that I'm more scared of, like those centipede things that come up from the drain.

I had a patient give me homemade limoncello, which was very nice of him except I’m very Mormon and don’t drink. He vehemently insisted I try it in front of him… during the work day… as someone who doesn’t drink due to my religion. Needless to say, I found out that day I am not a fan of limoncello and I surely hope God is ok with me trying not to make my patient upset 😂
