Wait. Is that why I had to pay around $130 extra on top of a $30 co-pay for a single 10-minute neurology appointment that my insurance has, in the past, completely covered?!?!
This made me chuckle; my son's half-sister was born January 1st at 00:58. Oh wait, we're Canadian, so it doesn't really matter when we need medical care🤷. #UHCStinks
I had complications both big and small as a general surgery resident and they really do make you question yourself and your technical and clinical abilities. It is an incredibly fragile point in training to be operating at a near independent level but not have the years of experience, board certification, hospital administrative support backing that a staff surgeon has. It is a loneliness and anxiety in a class of its own- not only is the support woefully lacking but the institutional expectation is that you will continue taking care of patients at a high level, continue operating, and continue “eagerly learning” as a good surgical resident always should be. Only now at the end of training (I am completing subspecialty fellowship training) do I not believe that I was able to emotionally withstand residency training. I do have a few scars but thank God that I had a wife and young children to support me. The work requirements lend itself to a single and uncommitted lifestyle, but those are the residents that are more likely to fail, quit, or hurt themselves. There is no easy fix and work hour restrictions DO NOT HELP. My greatest benefit was peer to peer support from a senior surgeon on faculty at my program. But looking back there is no way in hell I could do it again- nor would I want my children to go through the same process. Ortho, maybe, but general surgery heck no!
So much respect for how much positivity you put in getting people cured from Herpes. I envy your good work doctor Igudia. If the world has good doctors like you, it will be a better place. Keep it up doctor.
Do not examine my neck veins while I talk to you 😭😭 journal club on metoprolol is so real. A consultant once asked me to go study up on all the ECG changes cuz I was suspecting hyperkalemia and then send it in the academic group chat for the rest of the residents to learn
Had a pharmacist help me with a neighbor's 3 y/o who had severe runs but public hosp. didn't care. Came to tell him all was good and he nearly cried. He was worried when I came back it was to say little one had become too dehydrated and... yeah. But no, just some over the counter meds, a tots rehydrate and a good probiotic with a cool sippy cup so he drank water and he was playing again! Still remember the pharmacist though, poor guy.
I felt this......... but still, my current doctor is the most neglectful b***h and i keep thinking about filing a complaint against her to the licensing board in my province...... but then i think that she's a real person, and this video encourages me to be compassionate...... but then again, she has ZERO compassion for me and she doesn't listen and she's always putting words in my mouth and she refuses to fill prescriptions for me because she doesn't have good judgement and then she gives me mixed advice on the other medications she makes me take instead of the ones that have worked for me in the past...... so......?
Considering all the doctors were provided with free Ipads and the nurses got pizza, once, plus all the computer stations outside rooms taken away, I totally understand why it's nurses only. The doctors were given the Ipads so they could order and document as they saw each patient.
You might work for the insurance company, but we the patients get f**ked by the insurance company. I have horrendous pain in my lower back, legs, ankles, and feet. Physical therapy hasn’t helped. Handfuls of opioids help a bit, but never more than about 25% in reducing pain. My pain specialist has been trying to get me a trial with one of those implanted spinal cord stimulator TENS things. Last year, he was in network but the facility where he performs the surgery is out-of-network, so that was a no-go for broke me. This year, my plan has everything in-network (because I pay $300 a month more than I paid last year). But, ha ha ha, the insurance company has continually denied the surgery. I had to get new x-rays and an MRI (very pricey), have four new PT sessions, and switch to a different (stronger) opioid. None of those things helped in any significant way - except the opioid, which does reduce my pain but exacerbates my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. But nope, not approved. Generic opioids are cheap, so that’s what insurance says I need. Hook me on meds until I expire.
