Hi Everyone!! It was brought to my attention that I made a mistake on the listing for glaze combo used in the Photo Recap section of this video on the gorgeous Pink Mugs. I used AMACO's Flux Blossom not Mayco's Flux Blossom...It was an boo-bo. I review my listings over and over but this one got past me. I have no way of fixing the error in the video itself so I hope this comment will suffice! 😬
10:02 wow! And 21:44 Absolutely gorgeous! What are the 'pings'? 19:52 for example. Probably it doesn't disturb most people 😅, could just be my misophonia.
Hi Ann! Thank you! The planter and bowl are even prettier in real life! Sorry about the pings, it was my security camera sending notification to my phone...i forgot to turn the motion detection off...So sorry about that! 😬
Your pottery is beautiful, and the video quality is absolutely superb!! I especially like the recaps at the end. It gives the viewer a real clear closeup look at just how beautiful your work is!! Thanks for sharing, Sarah! 😊💗
This is the first video of yours that I have come across and I loved it. Already subscribed. Sooo many beautiful mugs and glaze combos it’s hard to pick a favourite. But I think it’s the one with the Blue Rutile and Jade.
Wow… all potters should be so lucky, especially when experiments with clay bodies and glaze combos are involved. Well done! And that refire save of the bowl was fantastic. Your recap with all the glaze & clay details is so appreciated. (The gorgeous pink mugs recap has Flux Blossom as a Mayco product, rather than Amaco.)
Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰 Nat is my Pink Sista!! 💕 I love lives, it’s so nice interacting with everyone in real time and we get to know each other bcuz of the chat! 🥰
I really loved the top shelf ones at the beginning they're giving like molten berry ice cream vibes 😋😚🥰 the one that cracked is it like usable or will it leak ? I'm asking just for knowledge really . but otherwise beautiful as always , I dunno about u Sarah but I looovee big mugs ❤
@@toniesolomon I’m so sorry missed your msg!! I always love hearing from you and thank you! The cracked bottom is still water tight as it doesn’t go the the entire floor of the pot, but its strength could be compromised, at first I thought about making it a ‘seconds’ but decided against it as it crossed over the foot so it’s way more vulnerable to break…boo! Well now i get to keep it🤭 I have no problem using it and I’ll see how long it last as an experiment. Btw, the clay body I used doesn’t seem to like being fired 2 time and slightly over ^6 bcuz I had the same thing happen on another pot after. Bummer, cuz the glaze is just gorgeous!!
@@SarahWaltonPottery keep it if it's better for testing purposes and yes your glaze combos are just scrumptious and cute and for the other pot that's bad , i was wondering when u buy the clay doesn't it say like how many times u can fire or what max temp it can be fired for or ask the pottery shop clerks if they can help u
@@toniesolomon well it was kinda damn if I do and damn if I don’t. After the first fire I had 1 pinhole that I was trying to fix and that got fixed but I got a crack. Oh well, live and learn.
FABULOUS KILN OPENING!! Love the pinks as uzual :). The large blue-green "cups" can be tumblers? Good as vases too, but I kinda like a nice tumbler and those look good! I love, love, love that refired bowl and I WANT that mug that was right after the bowl! It looks like it had some irridescence on it? Thanks for sharing!
Hi Star! Thank you! I'm going to be opening a kiln load later today😬...I've got my shop update this Sat so I've have a lot of measuring and photos to take, probably my least favourite part of the process...😵💫... No irridescence, there is a bit of texture on that piece as I'd carved lines on just the top ⅓ and it made the glaze pool and go super shiny..🤭
@@SarahWaltonPottery Yay! Another unloading👍🏻 I just bought the Monet tumbler! I don’t remember seeing that come out of the kiln. I love it! I’ll be working 12 hours on the 19th so unfortunately will miss the shop update…what I really want is a mug with the Peppered Plum Flux Blossom combo like you were drinking out of last kiln opening! Someday…have fun with the not so fun stuff😬
@@SoulHavenPottery-gt2gf Hi Star…I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw that you bought the cup! Thank you! It’s. Truly one of my most favourite combos…I hope you love it as much as I do! Oh, and btw it’s on its way to you 😘 I don’t remember if your cup was in a video or not. I don’t think so.🤔 The kiln load that I just fired I filmed everything but I’m really focused on getting my site ready for the shop update this Sat so editing the kiln opening has to wait..I’m elbows deep in measuring, taking pics and listing…I wish I could get someone to do this for me…not fun at all! With that said, the glaze firing has got some really nice things that I was super pleased with. As always it’s lovely hearing from you! 🥰😊
Someone did recommend that before. I tried it but it doesn’t seem to work for me. How long do you leave it in for, maybe I’ve been too impatient and need to leave it in longer?! 🤭
@@SarahWaltonPottery , I put mine in the deep freezer for at least 2-3 hours. Then if necessary i give it a whack with a hammer carefully, sometimes it just pops off with prying.
Another thing I learned is not to make cookies with porcelain because it apparently gets sticky in firing. And they actually stick worse. Do you use porcelain?
I hope you really consider teaching . You have such a natural ability to teach and to connect with ppl … plus you are a talented potter .. the glaze qween !!!
Hi Sarah! What a great kiln opening. I love all your glaze combos, I might have to try some of the ones with blue rutile and lustrous jade, I have them in my studio and haven’t used them for years.😂
Thank you so much Sarah! I will try and share also my results. I just bought a new clay from Kentucky Mudworks called Dark Star, and can’t wait to try it!😄
Wow I love, love, love every single piece! Just beautiful 🤩 I’m new to pottery and your work and glaze combos are right up my street! Your inspirational to my journey and I thank you for sharing all your work with us! Do you ship to England? I would love to own one of your pieces Xxx
Hi Becci! Welcome to this amazing pottery community, you are going to absolutely love it! I promise it will humble you, make you cry, laugh, squeal, and teach you to let go! I'm so happy that you are inspired by my videos and glaze combos and I really appreciate your encouragement! I absolutely will ship to England, I haven't done so yet... Shipping cost are really quite high, not to mention import fees and other duties that different countries tack on... I don't even pretend to understand it, with that said, my shipping fees that are added at check out do not include all the additional fees that could potentially be added on upon entry to your country, therefor you would be responsible. Shipping within NA we don't have the additional duites, VAT, import fees etc. well at least not for pottery/ceramics but as for the rest of the world I recommend looking into what the additional cost may be.
Hi Sarah, Thanks for the warm welcome and reply. It all sounds quite complicated so I’ll look into it and then hopefully be able to place a order. The new pieces on your website look beautiful 😍

@@beccihenshall9671 the shipping part of my website has given me the biggest learning curve 😵💫 yes it is very complex and I’m learning every day. With that said, if you do make a purchase I will do my very best to keep shipping cost down, I have set a flat rate shipping fee to UK based off of some general address info and I created an average cost. If there is an overage with your particular destination I’ll refund the difference, to help keep fees down for you…as for additional duties etc…that I can’t help with. I’d be so very grateful for your business. Please meme if you do. Cheers
Hi there. Maybe I can help. Slow down the climb rate of your glaze. Also Im pretty sure you've over fired. If you slow the rate of the climb there is no need to soak at the end. Looking at the cones you've definitely over fired. The third cone should have remained erected. Cheers. Jeananne 72 year potter. Potting for 50 years. you've definitely over fired. Good on you. Your hammer is a potters best friend.
Thank you CJ! I’m glad I didn’t loose you 😅…the cups were aloof fun to make, so I think I’ll play around with the glaze/clay combo and see what I can come up with! 🥰
Hummm thats a tough one... Textured Turquoise, River Birch, Flux Blossom, Cirrus Flow and Blue Rutile. Those are my top 5, but as you know, I'm always mixing it up!
Yay! Thank you! I get sooooo excited opening kilns! There is so much build up to this moment that I just cant contain myself! It brings out the inner child! 🤪
Thank you so much for your generosity and for describing everything so well! I am just starting out with pottery and you are truly inspirational. You have boundless energy but you are so organized! I cannot get over the pink mugs!! They are heavenly!!! Thank you for letting us see your process and hear about your experiences - it is invaluable!
Thank you sooo very much Ellen! And your comments are so very encouraging to me!! Psst…I shipped your pink mug yesterday..🥰 As for the organization…it’s more of a necessity for me as I can get easily, like super easy, get distracted and not accomplish anything🤭😬🥰
