I'm so thankful that Glee introduced me to Wicked! They brought it to Brazil for the first time this year and the season is almost over. I've seen it twice, but I hope to see it one more time before the end of the season. It's just so perfect, even with the lyrics in Portuguese (of course the original is better, but the lyrics are just perfect in Portuguese as well). I'm gonna miss it so bad! And they won't release a cd with the tracks 😭 Wicked and Glee both changed me for good!
I never understood why they chopped the middle out the way that they did. You can hear where it was cut and the dynamic of the song shredded. "Bringing something we must learn, well I don't know if I believe that's true...." The second part of that verse, into Elphaba's entire verse, were important to the song, about their friendship. I am glad that they have the full version through iTunes and mp3, but the 45 seconds they cut here could have instead been cut elsewhere
@@mikekendall4713 I never understood either, but it was the MO for the airing show, but the soundtrack has all the song full recorded and I live to it, so many great renditions, some I like more the Glee version than the originals
It's definitely no coincidence that my favorite performances on Glee are when these 2 are singing together. There's just something about the way Lea's and Chris's voice go so well together, they sound so angelic and never fail to bring tears to my eyes. Just like their Defying Gravity performance.
Shirley A it’s even more perfect when you realize their relationship started out almost exactly as G(a)linda’s and Elphaba’s in the original Broadway show. Think about it at first they didn’t get along but because of the circumstances they slowly became friends actually best friends

he was doing good until the unnecessary Key change towards the end (because they were on the Gershwin stage, they were *CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED* to sing it in the *SHOW* key and *NOT* transpose *ANYTHING* )
Rachel and Kurt’s friendship was lowkey my favorite part about the show. They’re amazing voice are meant to go together better that Rachel and Finn’s voices, in my opinion. They can both hit incredible notes, and their star qualities are always trying to sharpen each other and make them both shine brighter. Their friendship was perfect and I get even MORE chills listening to this version over the actual Broadway version.
Rachel and Kurt are the foundation of GLEE! Sure everyone else is amazing too but these two make Glee Glee! Without them that show wouldn't be the same! HummelBerry for life!

IF the rumours of Lea playing Elphaba in the wicked movie are ture, I'm feeling optimistic. Without the autotune and the right Glinda actress, she'll do wonders for the movie :)
Though... I think I'd rather see Idina Menzel return as Elphaba... Of course, she could very well be burned out on Elphaba, in which case, Lea Michele would make a fine alternative!

I'm a fan of Anna Kendrick but she's not exactly a Galinda. Yes, she can sing in that soprano range but it's not her normal range. Not saying she couldn't do it, just, it's a long shot, as Galinda is a role for a true soprano. She could be a good Nessarose. Lea as Elphaba would be a dream come true:)
Still watching in 2024. This whole scene was beautifully done -- on the set of Wicked, it reframed their relationship after so many years as friends who had so much in common in terms of dreams and had grown because of their relationship. The acting was unusually good in a series that was so often cartoonish, and the bit of choreography they did worked for me. And the voices... really worked together. Anytime you let Lea Michele belt, that is a good start, and they allowed Chris Colfer to shine too. One of my favorite scenes and songs in all of Glee.
Yes, it is set for a movie adaptation on 2019 and it'll be directed by Stephen Daldry. I just hope that rumours will be granted that Lea Michelle will play Elphaba. And Ariana Grande as Glinda (my bet).. since she played it already as she mentioned one time in an interview.
The "how far they have come" comment certainly applies to Chris Colfer. The smartest thing the development team of glee did was to create a character for Curt. That said, I fail to understand that people who are fans miss by so far what a star Lea truly is. When the cast members are interviewed they talk about what an amazing singer Lea is and the fans do not get much of a chance to see it. They know. The kept Lea retrained from singing too good, to create an atmosphere of believability and allow the rest of the cast to catch up. The first time the Glee producers let go of her reins was when she performed "Don't Rain on My Parade." The championship year was really her Rachele's year of Glee, and the Nyada forward its Lea.
this is so beautiful! Lea and Chris defs created a lovely, fresh and wonderful cover of this classic done by Idina and Kristen. Their voices blend so well together. Lea is such a strong and passionate singer and Chris offers a sweet touch. It's great to see how much their voices improved ever since the start of the show.
This is such an amazing performance by Lea Michele and Chris Colfer and no one could of sang it any better!! Beautiful! I love the Rachel and Kurt friendship. Definitely one of my favourite and best performances in Glee!!!
Glee introduced me to songs that I never knew and I’m so thankful that because of them, I learned to love those songs! This is one of my favorite duet as well as defying gravity.
VulcanDetective They do that because they had to fit it into an hour length show (along with storyline) On the soundtracks they do full length studio versions.
