In season 1 people complained that santana and britanny didn't have enough lines and dint sing! That's why ever since season 2 when britanny got the whole episode where she sang Britney Spears songs and santana got Valerie and so many more lines!
I agree, even thought she said she was jealous Santana showed her happiness for Rachel. I don’t understand why Rachel isn’t happy or supportive for Santana for being her understudy. Besides I don’t get why Rachel was so pissed that Santana was her understudy.
@@avoiqlxser4421 i dont understand either. rachel was saying how she plans on staying healthy, and if she is, why would it bother her santana is her understudy? if i was rachel i would feel more comfortable having someone i knew and trusted as my understudy.
This is the most stupid thing, Rachael really helped Santana, when she was in love with Dani, she told her to express her feelings, and when they were finally a couple, Rachael was happy for her, also, when Santana made her video, Rachael was also happy for her, even Santana said she wanted to be fanny and that she needed to find a way to make Rachael quit to finally get the main character, and all the people just because they hate Rachael and love Santana don’t remember that scene, but to hate on Berry you remember every little line, I love Santana and Rachael, but I really hate how you don’t even think that Santana never had the dream of becoming a broadway Star, and also, she was the bad friend for that reason
@@SantMSS13 She didn't have the intention to make Rachel quit when she auditioned. She had always said that she wanted to be famous, and she saw the opportunity (understudy audition) so she grabbed it. The only time Santana said that she wanted to make Rachel quit was when Rachel was being a bithc. Rachel was so out of line getting mad at Santana for auditioning as her understudy.
@@potatlife Damn, even if it was a note lower, it's still not an easy song to sing nevertheless. Naya was gone too soon. She's an incredibly talented woman whose spark this world will miss terribly.
Naya was the only true triple threat on Glee. She could sing, dance and act phenomenally, she wasn’t mediocre at anything she did and put passion into whatever she was doing. Makes sense why Lea was actually so intimidated by her.
miel right but I’m speaking strictly on the days of Glee. Amber was a newcomer whereas Naya had been acting since she was 3 in huge shows. Naya was also a trained dancer and singer. I think Amber’s voice was just as good, especially when they sang together but even some of the show’s creators said Naya was the only true triple threat actor they had before she passed and in their tributes to her. It doesn’t take away from Amber’s singing chops, or say, Heather and Harry who were both phenomenal dancers.
Santana wasn´t the best, Rachel made my cry in all of her perfomance , Is one of the best singers of the word, and I am not saying this beacuse I hate santa, her voice is unique ; But all of you said that she was better beacuse you hate Rachel (sorry for my English)
Just because she died doesn’t mean we gonna start that bull shit Rachel could out sing her any day but Mercedes is the person you might be talking about
Santana and Mercedes were on the same level. Watch their performances together, Naya was the only one that could ever be on the same level as Amber. Lea was amazing too but not on their level at all.
I hated how they made it the Rachel Berry show.. thank god they added Santana to balance it but still, the show had a void without Quinn, Mercedes, Mike and Puck.
Things I noticed after watching this a concerning amount of times: • Santana’s abs like omg • Santana’s heels • The smile on Santana’s face while she was singing. Like she really looked excited because she knew she was good and if she got this she’d be working with her friend, and even the way she looked at Rachel throughout was like “Hey roomie look at me this is gonna be great” It’s sad that when Rachel said she wanted to be friends back in High School, Santana took it to heart and really saw Rachel as a friend; Rachel on the other hand only ever saw her as a threat.
That's not true. Rachel had only seen her as a friend so far. Rachel blew this out of proportion but Santana could've spoken to Rachel first. Santana and Rachel have had a rocky relationship and were just really getting to know each other. And I hate the fact that people tried to make Santana a saint. She was jealous of Rachel. She wanted what Rachel had... The very same thing she had ridiculed Rachel for all her life. She should've spoken to Rachel first. If Rachel wanted her to be her understudy then she would've asked. It's clear she didn't. And that should've been understanding to Santana considering their past.
@@lhourdeanthony4237 Sadly, the way Rachel is acting is exactly how Lea Michelle is in real life. Nobody likes to work with Lea on anything, because she is so nasty & mean to everyone. And, that's sad. Because she has such an amazing voice. On the other hand, Naya Rivera flat out kicked Lea's ass with this performance. And, this is Naya's best performance of the entire series. What a tragic loss of such an amazing talent.
I like how Santana got her own version, she makes it seem so easy compared to Rachel's performance where she looks like she is in pain doing those high notes. I am glad Naya gave it her own style.
Both are great versions, but in Lea’s defense, her version is transposed in a WAY higher key than Naya’s bc both have different ranges and voice types.
dont think shes in pain. its more shock that after everything she finally gets to sing it but omg its so hard to hit them notes aha!!! hats off to naya! RIP princess x
I love this coz it’s not Rachel realising that Santana’s better, it’s Rachel realising that she’s not going to get any special treatment like she did with Mr Shue. She didn’t have to worry about Santana stealing her spotlight in glee club coz she knew Mr Shue wouldn’t give Santana a solo, but the guy sitting next to Rachel is looking for the best singer and obviously that is Santana. :)
Both versions are fantastic BUT Naya's/Santana's edges a step beyond Leah's, IMO, because of her phenomenal stage presence, you can't take your eyes off her. Her overall tone of voice is gorgeous. Easy to listen to yet powerful at the same time. You want to hear more. While this is more a pop version, Naya more than accomplishes what any Broadway performance calls for, she kept you absolutely riveted from the moment she started strutting down that aisle, to her very last brilliant note on stage. She was the ultimate definition of a triple threat.
There's a difference between having stage presence and being able to put on a performance what you saw was not stage presence its was a performer Lea has the most stage presence but Santana out ranks her when it comes to performing .
@@cocooso6552 hi do you mind explaining what exactly separates both of those terms (stage presence and performing)? Sorry if this is a bother I'm just genuinely trying to learn
@peagle performing is entertaining Stage presence is the ability to just stand there and have eyes drawn to you by default That's why many people say santanas version is better because many pop or hip-hop artists are entertainers and performers like lady gaga or arianna Grande . Rachel's version is for people who love Broadway or theatrical songs and there attention span is usually bigger and they pay attention to the details. So if you listen to the radio your most likely gonna like santanas version better because its more appealing.
@@cocooso6552 as a performer I must respectfully disagree. Santana's is more entertaining in every aspect to me. I prefer her voice to Rachel's because Lea has a nasal quality to her voice I'm not personally a huge fan of. And when it comes to acting, Lea just doesn't have it. Firstly she closes her eyes on average every 7 seconds, yes I've counted, that's not a strong acting choice and makes it look like she needs to close her eyes to hit a high note. Secondly she either always looks sad or pissed when she sings a ballad, even when it's not appropriate to the song. When Rachel sings this song she looks pissed off, which is not what this song is about at all, it's about a woman in love taking charge of what she wants naysayers be damned. So I must say that Rachel isn't a performer and she doesn't really have stage presence either. There isn't anything subtle about what she does.
Rachel's been singing this song since forever. In all their years together in glee club, Rachel never heard a peep of Streisand from Santana and Santana just blows through the door and knocks it out of the park! I love Santana. Rest in peace, Naya Rivera.
Haha! And she had just found out about it that day I think. She walked in their and owned that song the the Boss she was. I love Santana/Naya. RIP Naya🦋
Santana has been singing notes that aren't even that high during glee club so Rachel probably thought that Santana could never do songs like this but when Santana did she was sh👀k
It was actually revealed in interviews the lea ended up not talking to anyone in the final season due to a couple disagreements so the idea she’s not acting is not that far off
The fact that Rachel was upset that Santana was her understudy and auditioned is honestly the biggest compliment. Rachel Berry believed she was the best in everything she did but she was threatened by Santana because even though she knew she had a great voice and a good presence, Santana was just captivating. Santana is the only girl who could upstage Rachel on Broadway. Mercedes rules the pop world. Tina and Quinn are more indie and Britney's strong suit was dance. Santana could fit in every category perfectly including Broadway which was Rachel's territory, and she knew that.
Rachel: “I won’t get sick, which is why I won’t need an understudy.” Also Rachel: **fakes being sick because she’s tired of just being the lead of Funny Girl**
It's been said before. Naya is an all around talent. She could sing any genre and make it her own. She has such huge range. She will live forever in her songs.
@@Pavlin_S what the hell is that mindset, you seperate the actor(a real person) from the role they portray(a fictional character) they are not the same person i cant believe you think that they are
I’m no Rachel fan i love Santana but i think it’s more so that Rachel believes understudies try to hurt the lead so they can take their place...and going to school with Naya she knows how she can get. But she always had witness naya’s growth and should honestly just be happy it’s someone she’s familiar with
When I saw this the first time, it blew my mind. I knew Naya was talented, but until I saw her sing this song, I just didn't realize how talented. Other than Barbra's version, this is my favorite. Naya sang the hell out of it, and when she does that ascending scale on "here I am" -- I almost passed out. What an amazing, amazing talent. I still can't believe she's gone.
Erika Vargas rojas I love Naya but her and lea were both great neither was better then the other because it could be argued that Lea was better and that’s why the Tony awards had her perform it and not Naya
Amber Davis actually, Lea sang this song at the Tony awards because she was first to sing it on the show. They didn’t ask Naya to perform it because she hadn’t sung it at all before Lea’s performance and Naya sang the song YEARS after Lea did. Lea simply performed it at the Tony’s because she was first to sing it on the show, not because they thought she was more talented/sang the song better than Naya.
Rox none of the songs were recorded in a studio they did it on the set if you look at the behind the scenes they showed how all the songs were done on set and sang by them
I feel that this isn't Naya playing Santana. We are seeing Naya herself. Other than the beginning part, I don't see Santana trying to one up Rachel. I see Naya, singing and performing for herself. The smile she gives us isn't to impress the audience. It's a genuine smile because she's in the zone and she's singing from the soul. She's absolutely radiating. That's why this will always be my favorite scene from Glee.
"Rachel, why didn't you tell me about her?" "I mean, she was the one singing with me when we did that whole Hard Day's Night song for you, but okay..."
the 'surgical masks that chinese people wear' did not age well. also naya performed this flawlessly, and she was taken far too soon. much love to her family.
Cause Rachel was awful. Sure, she had some character development but she still was an egocentric, selfish and envious bitch. She thought she was the only who could sing it. smh
One of the most iconic scenes in S5 tbvh. I love how Santana was just holding back all along. The fact that she didn't copy anyone's version and made the song her own just showed how talented and versatile she was as a singer/performer. If only the writer didn't made it all about the drama and the whole rachel vs santana thing we could've seen both of them thrive in broadway. What a wasted potential.
Santana’s last note was so much fuller and purer than Rachel’s. There was lots of harmonising whereas Rachel just did one boring note. I like Santana’s creative style. #GoodbyeNayaRivera
It wasn't boring and Santana isn't Broadway there's a difference Santana may have sang it higher but Rachel sang it longer and in the further seasons her voice gets better and better so I'm pretty sure she can sing it better now and higher 😒
jazmin Rios Whenever I compare Santana and Rachel’s singing, I always felt mesmerised and captured by Santana’s singings more. Hers were just soulful and had more emotions. Rachel’s is just boring.
jazmin Rios lmao 😂 You need to realise not everyone has the same opinion as you do. Stop being so bitter that a lot of people like Santana’s singing better than Rachel. Take it like an adult and shut up. You’re acting exactly like a carbon copy of Rachel.
@@GeorgiaAndrea but the think is I'm not an adult and idc care what you say I know she's better so stop answering pls I'm trying to talk to someone who knows that I'm not an adult soooo yeah and I'm not a nother Rachel want to know what I am I'm jazmin so yeah bye
Every audition showcased Lea. Every sectional, nationals had her solos, every plot twist revolved around her, every interview around her. This should truly have been called "Lea Michele's glee"
The show literally had no balance. I don't know what Lea Michele did for Ryan Murphy but whatever she did, it worked. The show was all about kissing her ass while there were so many other talented people that barely got the light of day.
Naya is one of the main reasons I fell in love with Glee back in the day , and the only reason I kept on watching the later seasons. Everything she does , she kills it 🙌💖 may you rest in peace angel 💔
Imme van Gorp can you not? like right not out of all times is not the time to be shady. She just passed away the least you could do is respect her talent
Rachel is objectively better than Santana. Any trained vocalist or professional would see that Lea is actually a better vocalist than Naya. So no he wasn't thinking that because he actually took the best one (vocally at least).
Immortality is practically defined as the memory of something living forever. The woman may be gone... but as long as people enjoy these performances and remember Naya... she’s never really gone. She lives on in your heart. Her spirit, her compassion and, of course, her talent. And that’s all that matters.
Only Naya Rivera could put her signature on "Don't Rain on my Parade," "Mine," and "If I Die Young." She makes these songs her property. R.I.P. Naya Rivera.
@@richardrussell6861 you dont have to compare just say you like It and enough this is the problem with this fans they think their Idol is better than everybody
When I first heard both recordings of rain on my parade before watching glee, I was like “oh this one must be the main girl, because it’s so much better” and then I watched the show and it was like “why isn’t this girl the main girl”
I love how this song is about taking chances and doing whatever it takes and as soon as Santana does that Rachel freaks out. And Rachel calls it her theme song like sit down sweetie.
I see a lot of comparing Rachel, Mercedes, and Santana in the comments . When I feel like they are all in different lanes, so why compare. All three of them where the best female singers on the show. I’m saw Mercedes as the r&b voice, Santana as the pop voice, and Rachel as the broadway voice. With that being said, and without comparing anyone her she sang this song flawlessly. She added her own style to it and made it her own, which is what singing is all about! R.I.P QUEEN❤️
I'm quite offended that anyone would compare amber to the rest of them. Amber is far ahead in vocal range and ability than the rest. Oh and Brittany could perform better than Santana Brittany had the most pop voice out of the whole cast and overall star quality.
Keeping Naya in my thoughts and prayers, I hope her family will get a closure of this whole thing, bad or good. Because if her body will never be found, I know they won't help it, but wonder, did they do anything they could or falied her in worst way possible....

Naya was to young, to beautiful and too talented. Thank God we have these videos to remind everyone how incredible this woman was! I still can’t believe she’s gone. We will never forget you Naya Rivera ❤️
Rachel your girl was trying to pay homeage to you by singing your song & she auditioned to hangout w/ you and probably make up for all the times she dissed you in high school
