Yeah this song should of been where mercedes kurt tina santana blaine were in the gay club.....they were adults at that time so should of played it there.
got tea I mean the actor playing Will is not that much older than some of the „students” irl. When you forget they’re supposed to be teens and a 30/40ish year old it’s just adults dancing and having fun
peng win He almost get fired in this episode because Sue is the principle and think that this song is inappropriate(because it is) and that it’s not okay to have students twerk
I was so glad when Sue wanted to fire Will after this performance. What bothers me though is that the writers realized that this song is about date rape + that the students dancing to this with Will would be fucked up but they still decided to put it in...
That was the whole point. The writers knew the song was about date rape. It was suppsosed to make Will look ignorant and he was later informed after that the song was about date rape by sue.
But the character will didn't know. It's supposed to be funny that he thought it was some symbolic art thing when really it's a dirtbag song, and also supposed to be informative
I think we can all agree glee was incredibly problematic.. but it was one of the few shoes that gave MASSIVE representation to People of color and LGBTQ plus community.... lol but this show sometimes was yikes
Dough Ball i think it’s about all the women he slept with after cleaning their pools. The thing is he didn’t sleep with shelby (ms corcoran) and when they had their „relationship” he was already 18
he was 18. when Quinn is bitchin about it to Rachel, Rachel says he's 18 and can do whatever he wants. it's still a fucked up relationship because of the power dynamic tho.
One time I was taking a nap while my little sister & her friends were watching Glee & this song started to play & when Mr.Schuester said "everybody get up" I guess it activated my fight or flight response because I immediately woke up in a cold sweat
@24 SadSongs meh. Everyone realises he could've done alot worse than sing that song ( which I personally like). The only times I thought he was over the line was when he blackmailed Finn and suspended Marley
@@unicornbarfingrainbows7599 It's just music, it's just dancing, it's just art. Some people read too much into it, he would never even try to seduce his students or anything like that, if you actually payed attention to his character. And by the way, i'm not saying he was perfect at all nor am i defending the sloppy and inconsistent writing this show had, especially with the way its characters acted.
Totally unrelated but remember in season 4 Kitty was basically the Bree of that season trying to hook up with Jake and steal him from Marley. But in this season she’s a total sweetheart and happily dating Artie. Great character development 👏👏
somebody commented on another video about Mr Shue that they were rewatching the show with one of their parents and their parents commented that Mr Shue was the kind of teacher you'd later discover was having affairs with his students.
Mr. Shue is dancing and singing to a song about sex with his students? Oh yea it's a total mystery that Sue wanted him fired😂😂😂 also I love glee but that's not twerking at least bree kitty jake artie and the cheerleaders have rhythm although Tina and Blaine trying to twerk is adorable
ZaraBlovemusic 21 Jenna (the actress that plays Tina) was actually the best twerker but because of her character, the producers told her to not dance as well as she could.
I mean . . .vocally they sound really good. It's just the song choice & performance are just sooo . . .soooo . . .what was Ryan Murphy smoking when he picked this song? And apparently, the cast members said that Jenna was the best at twerking and was a lot more natural at it than Kitty, but for the sake of Tina's character, they told her to dance not as good as she actually could.
there was a time when they stoped using songs that were relevant to the plot and just singing whatever was popular at the time, heck they even sang "What does the fox say?" and "gangnam style"
@@1996koke They started singing "what's popular at the time" in season 2, but I do admit there used to be a nice mix of that and actually plot relevant songs in those days...
Some reasons Glee couldn’t happen in 2019: 1. Mr Schue and the kids singing about drug rape 2. Rachel and Finn singing a love song dressed as a priest and a catholic school girl 3. Artie and Quinn singing “I’m still standing” whilst being physically incapable of standing Thanks for reading lol x
@@cwis6333 Wasn't it obvious that they did it on purpose? Rachel chose to do it that way because it was the best thing she could think of so they could lose.
Em The Disney Princess I understand season 4 was ok but until this episode came out many people stopped watching glee because of this I don’t think that’s enough to stop me from watching a show but I totally understand why you stop not everyone will give a show a second chance and that’s perfectly ok
ME TOO. I was a die hard glee fan. I wasn't too impressed with season 4. And then Cory died. And then this happened. I just couldn't defend this show anymore.
I will never forget how much trouble I got into when my mom walked in (at the classroom scene) to see my 11 year old self watching this Good memories Glee
Mr. Schue definitely lost his mind after the original New Directions left He went to be a barely decent teacher to twerk with teenagers Character development was obviously not a priority to this show
Ginny Granger a gay man can still be attractive to anyone, and plus Darren isn’t gay in real life. He’s a very good looking individual, why does it matter if he’s gay?
OKAY SO A FEW THINGS: 1. I love how you can hear Bree’s voice over top of everyone’s, like Santana’s in “Like a Virgin” 2. MARLEYS ADORABLE OH MY DAYS 3. Blaine grinding on the table at 1:22 will save 2020 (you can’t tell me he wasn’t thinkig of kurt) 4. KITTY SAYING MEOW…..NO 5. The fact that Will covered his eyes when walking near them but mostly likely was watching from a far Ig that’s it
Artie: “it’s impossible for me to twerk” Kitty: I beg to differ Okay but honestly this entire episode made me so uncomfortable and for once I appreciated Sue’s opinion
I hate this scene… but you can’t lie the good things we’re Blaine twerking and going off, Artie also going off and nailing the vocals, and Marley being so cute 😂❤️
Thinking about my 16 year old cousin watching this in my room during her glee years and telling me I had to get out cus it was inappropriate. Core memories.
The worst part is that he somehow didnt know the song was about date r*pe even after memorizing the lyrics. And he went even further by performing it with a group of children whilst twerking through the hallways of a public high school. How was he not fired?
To me the only things worse than this performance was when Sue told him that the song was about date rape and then he said "What? No, no it's not". Not just what he said (alongside the 'it's called the first amendment' comment) but that self-righteous patronising smile and head shaking he did as well.
Tbh, a lot of people don't tend to actually listen to the lyrics of songs- even if they have it memorised. But regardless, Shue still should have been fired.
Can’t believe they decided to remove the Warblers performance of I Want You Back but left this up. Even though the Michael Jackson episode was quite long I’d rather watch that than this.
I never watched Glee but I've seen a good song or two that they covered and for all of them (except the one with NPH cause he makes everything better) I seriously don't know how this show lasted as long as it did...
I’m rewatching the show (currently finishing season 5) and I’ve been thinking about this performance a lot. It’s *supposed* to be uncomfortable. It’s *supposed* to make us cringe. It is supposed to teach us that even if your heart is in a good place and you’re “fighting the good fight”, like Will, you can *still* be wrong and make mistakes. “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” and all that.
It would've been better if we'd actually seen him realise him mistake and admit to it not just shake his head with a 'What? No it's not' - I really hated that smile he gave sue in that scene.
If there was one track Glee should never have covered this would be it. It's what happens when a once great show needs to shock their audience to try and become popular by using a dodgy subject or concept.
