I HAVE always loved Glen Campbell as a kid. I bought & learned to play banjo because of his song "Gentle on my mind". May you rest in peace. You have such wonderful children supporting you till the end. I admire the musicality of Ashley who plays the banjo well too and has a beautiful voice to carry on your legacy as the leader of the band.
Love how he doesn’t let the little lapses spoil his night, he just gets on with it and has a great time connecting with the audience which is what it’s all about ….. great entertainer. I never seem to get tired of watching his performances …!
Seventy-three here and with Alzheimer's. I play guitar a little bit, but I'm more of a critic and a historian. Seems like there is a new top 100 guitarists article in one publication or another just about every other day. Anyone that has a real knowledge of guitar playing, and all the different styles and genres knows that it's silly to say that anyone is the best. Having said all that my moneys on Glen. God bless this man. Watching this brings tears to this grown mans eyes. The world is a much better place for him having lived.
Amen brother, my first 8 trac tape was a GC tape in about 68 I had just bought a little stereo with my grass cutting money. I was 11 or 12 and started playing guitar at 10. He's my favorite guitar player of all time, and yes I love the rock string benders too! 💯
Glen was a one man show with style, music style and voice that will never be matched again. My all time favorite guitarist and singer that I love playing and singing his songs daily! Thank you for such remarkable and stunning music!
Tragic how this legend had to spend the last 5 years of his life.... he lived hard but was easily one of the finest guitarists we have ever known... and a gentleman. Rest easy now Mr. Campbell
I just love Glen Campbell i great singer and guitarist and i've always admired him at one of his shows when he was younger 50s he had his mother up with him singing what a neat son i have the most respect for a man who acknowledge his elderly mother and calls her to come up and have her sing one of her favourite songs how adorable is that.
I'm brought to tears with this concert, I was a big Glen Campbell fan as a kid in the 70's, now just rediscovering my childhood again! Thank you for posting this....Memories!!
Love, love, loved Glenn Campbell. Even though he had his issues he was an immense talent and remained a true southern boy at heart. Polite, respectful and friendly. I bought an Ovation guitar because of him!
I just finished watching "I'll Be Me"...the poignant documentary of Glen's farewell tour. I never realized how deeply his voice and songs were embossed upon my being! What a magnificently talented and lovely gentleman, a gift to an entire generation! May you rest in peace sir.
I've been binge watching videos of Wichita Lineman, so I came here for that, but of course recognized everything up to then. When he kneeled down to personally give the little toddler his guitar pick, it caught my emotions a little off guard. My emotions were already being tested as I was aware of his condition while continuing to perform.
This man's talents had no bounds. His music has always been central to my adoration of the art. I miss him so much. He performed at this level while fighting Altzheimers !
I saw him at the Mohegan Sun in his last year of life. And he did an exceptional job the only mistake was he started doing gentle on my mind after the song finished. His entire performance was impeccable
Glenn reminds me of tales I've read about the old bards of 500 or 600 years ago and on back further than that. They traveled from estate to estate and entertained. Told the news and old legends. Played and sang old songs, new songs in Scotland. Probably Ireland and Wales. All the Celts.
Glenn Campbell's songs make up some of the happy memories of my childhood! I will cherish them forever. Thanks for the music, Glenn! Your beautiful music will live on forever! !
I cannot believe all of the heartfelt songs that he did. And I was only 10 when I saw him on the tv. I did get at least three albums from my mom. I played them over and over
My sweet sixteen boyfriend was a drummer who sang “By The Time” , what memories come while listening to Glen! He sings so beautifully and his guitar playing sends me. 🌹🎶🌹🎵🌹🎶🌹🎵🌹🎶. 🍷
I often sing Rhinestone Cowboy as I walk around the house … my kids used to tell me to stop singing !! but now my 5 year old requests me to play the original as he likes it so much !! Love Wichita Lineman as well, such a heartfelt song.
. . . Hello Daryl , These “Wish I’d seen ‘him’or ‘her’ or even ‘them’ “ comments always make me wonder ?!? He was a touring artist for over FIFTY YEARS , so just ‘how’ did you miss seeing him ?.. Depends on ‘where’ in the world you are to a certain extent - strange thing is that when I ask in this context … nobody wants to answer ?..
@@Darylatlarge . . . Yet another one of those ‘coy’ types are you Daryl ?.. ‘Stateside’?.. where Mr. Campbell toured (almost) continuously for about five decades. Or ‘Europeside’ where he was never a stranger. Just did not play at the end of your road , within a few minutes of your door, to make it ‘worth your bother’ I’ll bet. You are not alone .
I really appreciate this one of a million videos of my all time favorite artist. Glen is seen here with his precious daughter Ashley playing banjo, keys & covering vocals as well. I’ve heard her tell of this time in her life when her dad invited her to play in his band when he went to Australia and have finally came across this masterpiece. Thanks for sharing, this is a keepsake.
my dad controled the TV set. I didn't see many of the good time our shows at age 10 to 11. But it was enough to get me going with playing guitar at age 12! What an inspiration that man was
I can't help wondering if the audience could see that he was presenting with Alzheimer's symptoms in this concert. Since this was in 2009, it's 2 years before he announced his diagnosis in 2011.
Hey Outlaw! I found your channel! I grew up on Glen Campbell, my Dad had the tapes in his Kingswood permanently, Rhinestone Cowboy 🤠 and Wichita Lineman❤are forever favourites👍 Back in the day of no seatbelt’s or airbags😂🍺
Haha Karen! My channel is a 'Mosh' of various stuff, it has no rhyme or reason to it. I'm a huge Glen fan, and he was a brilliant guitar player, and that side plays to me. He had some great songs though, and yeah, in the days where there was so much more innocence. The world is crumbling before our very eyes now.... Glad we still have the music and the internet to have some fun though! Cheers! The Ol' Outlaw :)
Glen was starting to fail then. He has to read some of the lyrics and his daughter is keeping a watchful eye on him. But he no trouble playing that guitar!
