This one is serious. Either merullo steps up to the plate and gets that land and finances this whole arena project himself or its bye bye yotes. No other options after that if that fails.
@@rimc8783 I don’t know where 2 miles comes from lol but there’s a huge difference between a game at 1:00 on a Sunday every other weekend and a game 1-2 x’s a week in rush hour. The majority of their fans live in the EV.
@@miranda6606 Well you should be happy Glendale built them a hockey ring! Because if they didn't you would be going to 19th Ave and McDowell the old broken down Coliseum. Now the new owner has the opportunity to take them to Canada like he wanted to in the passed. Does it really matter where the hockey ring is built if your a fan you will go.
@@FAITHandLOGIC Guess what? The Coyotes were under league ownership for FOUR seasons, just because Gary Bettman wouldn't allow Jim Balsillie to move the franchise to Hamilton. In the span of 10 yrs, the Coyotes went through 4 ownership and presidential changes. They have a long tradition of administrative and financial disasters. The current owner was behind on payments to Glendale, and refuses to entirely finance a new arena.
@@mathewlee5712 i remember it well. The issue was that Balsille was operating from outside of the league’s authority. He was not an owner and relocation is a process that requires approval from the NHL Board of Governors. You can’t just up and move a team anymore. Plus, it would have been blocked by Toronto and Buffalo. Hamilton will never get a team. That being said, the team would have moved back to Winnipeg if that whole Atlanta fiasco didn’t happen. The Winnipeg/Quebec situation was a much different scenario than the Coyotes. We’re talking about a tanking Canadian dollar which almost cost the relocation of the Oilers too.
Do you have some way to use the arena to make up for the lost revenues? If not, then your silly "we want long term contracts, not year to year" is laughable. Getting them even for just one more year is better than nothing.
Except that the Coyotes have been subsidized to play there for years, costing far more than the revenue generated... Plus for good measure, the team apparently is delinquent on what meager rents it does owe. Props to these guys for finally kicking them to the curb.
In my opinion... Tempe or Phoenix should be ideal locations for them to play in. However, the Suns probably won't let the Coyotes use their arena as co-tenants. Whatever happens, happens. 🤷🏻
Are there indoor MLS stadiums? Would make sense if they both just used the same place like a lot of basketball and hockey teams. But I also know zero about soccer or what their seasons look like. Tempe seems a hell of a lot smarter with development than Glendale so if it’s possible I could see them making it work.
Hope Coyotes move to Tempe az Arena is build 2022 in East Valley in Arizona!!! ? Be get temporary Home at Phoenix Sans or at Sun Devils University Hockey Team can Share the Arena during the 2022 season in Arizona!!!
@@RoseCityRebel Detroit won’t agree to it. They’re Eastern Time Zone and were lobbying to join the Eastern Conference for years before it happened. No way they change now.
