Maister came so close, Leo is a monster, his spacing is impeccable, the way he times his nairs differently every time. Not to mention, he does all this with byleth, while not a bad character by any means, leaves much to be desired. Props to both players

such a close set, you can tell just how long they have played against eachother by simply how they interacted in the neutral game, and how they both analysed every single part of eachother’s gameplay, like how Leo air dodged after up b, then maister trying to counter that with setting up bomb, or how maister bair’d Leo as he was in tether recovery, they must have played close to if not more than 1000 hours against eachother since the game came out, I feel hope in future that Maister becomes the training partner Leo will fear, but not today it seems

The actual match aside, you've just gotta appreciate that these two characters span forty years of Nintendo history between them.

Well at least it seems that Maister keeps closing in against his demon, since summit this was the closest match Maister has had against him. Plus, if Maister hasn’t gotten better results in these tournaments its because he always ends up facing Leo 😂

That one upsmash in game 5 sealed the deal. It completely allowed mkleo to change gears, be aggressive, and no long play the slow neutral game that maister was excelling at in prior games. Sucks that it all pretty much came down to one boneheaded move, but obviously when you’re playing at that level for so long with so much stress it’s going to happen to everyone. It seems like maister kept his cool up until then, which is a big improvement. As long as he continues on that trajectory, I don’t see why he couldn’t defeat mkleo finally.

At this point in time, every tournament that Maister gets eliminated by Leo is a classic

I think one of the main things that makes Maister lose to Leo, is Byleths forward air beating g&w's fair, it just seems like G&W always has to take a huge risk approaching Byleth because of that

Maister looks like a paid actor at this point. I cannot comprehend how such an amazing player, who has beaten pretty much everyone else, is literally incapable of taking a single set from Leo, even though they're from the same region and they've played one trillion times. It feels like Maister just goes to tournaments to beat people who can actually upset Leo, so then he can give him the win at the end.

Maister always has the momentum in the beginning but seems to lose it throughout the set. Maybe, it isn't Maister losing his momentum, but Leo adapting to his playstyle. Either way, a great set but an expected outcome unfourtanetly.

I absolutely love watching Leo's Byleth. The fact that I chose to watch a set with fucking Maister just because Leo's Byleth was in it says a lot
