Coming previously from the Wilson Blade then this racket to me feels like it has plenty of power. I used it for the first time today, with RPM Blast strings at a medium tension. Very nice feel control spin and plenty of power as far as I'm concerned!

The look is so awesome!. I still have my PS 6.0 85 & 95. This brings me back to the 80's and 90's. Currently using the 2015 (red/black) version for the last 3-4 years. Will probably buy this V13 just from the look itself :)

Most noticeable benefits when switching over to this racquet was better slice, improved control & plow through, huge stability & control on volleys. I have to work a little harder for spin and power, but when I strike the ball cleanly, it is beautiful. Less forgiving, but the upside is amazing. Also much easier to drive through my one handed backhand.

Hello Chris! Hope you and your loved ones are doing great and safe, and you’re getting better from your injury! 😁💪🏼 How would you compare this v13 against the 2014 version? Specially on flex and feedback, due to the new braid 45
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
Thank you and hope all is well with you and your loved ones, too! For me this version feels more dialed in and I'm finding my targets better with it. The stringbed has more predictability and I found the response very forgiving. Everyone has their own preferences but this one was a solid update for me and I would transition into from the previous version with zero regrets. I found just as much power and spin but with better directional control. The racquet still offers a crisp response so no big departures in terms of feel of the flex. Cheers, Chris, TW

Appreciate your review, really good. Quick question, I've been playing for 1 year, using a Wilson Clash 100. I feel it a bit "slow" and a bit lack of control. I love the PS visual and I'd like to know if it would be a good transition. I usually hear this is a non friendly racket, so worried about the playability and injuries. Appreciate your help!
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse Год назад
If you are able to demo it first, we would recommend that! We think the Pro Staff is a solid racquet but does have a more controlled feel and is not as forgiving compared to the Clash. The Boom MP would be a great racquet to try as well - nice cosmetic and forgiving and arm friendly! Michelle, TW

Good review as always! How is this compared to the current Radical Pro and Prestige Pro? ...in terms of serves (whippiness & speed through the air) ; stability ; any other differences you think are worth noting. Playing currently with a VCORE 97 Duel G with 5g of lead in the hoop. Demoed the PS97 V13, the control and stability are addictive, but the VCORE just goes fast through the air on serves, even though I have it at 346g total. Thanks!
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
This one is closer to the Prestige Pro in terms of overall playability, but this one maneuvers a bit easier, as it has a bit lower swing weight. Both this and Prestige Pro are stable, but a bit more from the Prestige Pro with that higher swingweight, and plow through. Troy, TW

I have the previous version of the ProStaff 97 with counterveil. Even though, according to many, it lacked feel, what it did have was a very cushioned response. Good shock absorption. For somebody who has had arm issues, that's important. I would like to know, this newer version without counterveil, how does it measure up as far as confort for the arm and cushioned response in comparison to the CV version?
@tenniswarehouse

Pretty similar comfort overall, The CV felt more muted, and this one has more response, and feel for the ball. But we didn't notice a significant difference in comfort. Troy, TW

Hi TW! great review. How would this V13 315g compare to the Ezone Tour and the TFight RS 305? mainly in terms of plow through, precision/control, good access to spin and overall maneuvrability? it's be mainly for an aggressive baseliner type of player. Thank you in advance!!
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
This one offers the most control, precision, and maneuverability. The EZONE 98 Tour and TFight 305 RS both have a heftier, higher plow through type of feel. The spin potential is pretty similar between the EZONE 98 Tour and PS97 v13, the 305 RS a bit less. Troy, TW

how does it compare to the previous Non-Countervail version? You guys said that last version was pretty powerful and they have the same stiffness. And how does it compare to the VCORE98? in terms of power feel and control? Thanks a lot !! :)
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
A bit more feel, and response compared to the non-CV previous version. This one feels a bit more control oriented, possibly due to the slightly more dense string bed in the middle. VCORE 98 packs more power, and is more spin friendly, this one feels more control oriented, and a bit more solid on contact. Troy, TW

Thanks for the review all :) @Chris you mentioned that you will add weight to this racket. Can you please share where in the racket will you add the weights e.g. (add a leather grip)? I believe you are wanting to change the specs so that it falls somewhere between this racket at its stock form and RF 97 autograph? Also the Pure Drive Tour 2021 feels very similar spec wise to this racket? Where is the biggest difference between the 2 rackets?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
Chris is out for a couple days, so I will chime in for now. We would likely go somewhere in the 2/10 o'clock regions, to help with plow, and a bit of torsional stability, however if you just want more power or plow, the 12 o'clock is the most efficient. A leather grip could work well to add some handle weight, or you could tungsten putty in the bottom of the handle. Start small increments, and experiment with how it feel. The Pure Drive Tour provides much easier power, and a bit stiffer feel overall, this one much more control, and feel. Hope that helps, Troy TW

How are the handle vibrations on the V13? One thing that stood out to me with the newer Clash and Blade V7 lines was that they both had no handle vibrations, even when stringing low like around 48lbs~.

Hello guys! as always, the review was very good. for me, the 315g is very heavy ... so I would like to buy the 97L and customize it so that it looks similar, leaving it with 300-305g. Can you help me? where should I put weight to have the same balance / sw as the PS 315g on my 97L. thank you!
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
So basically sounds like you want to add roughly 15 grams, going from about 290 to 305 grams unstrung, and have similar balance and swingweight to the Pro Staff 97 v13 (315g). Our customization tool works well for this: twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/customization.php. So you can type in the specs for the 97L in the What I have section, length= 27, Weight= 306 grams strung, balance= 33.3 strung, and swingweight= 311 strung. Next type in specs for What I want, Weight= add 10 or 15 grams from 306 (so 316 or 321) strung, balance= 32 strung, and swingweight= 321 strung. Then click customize my racquet, and it will likely give you two different options on where to place your weight, and how much. Good luck! Troy, TW

I used to like the heavy RF PS but went away from it because I’m getting older. I can’t believe he adds quite a bit of weight to an already heavy racket. Anyway, I have some new Pro Staffs and they’re fine, but it seems like it’s missing a little something. Lead at 12 o’clock? How much? Lead at 3 & 9 o’clock? 12 o’clock adds power? I’m confused.

Hey! Do you know if the low-powered nature is consistent with earlier models of pro staff 97 or is the V13 exceptionally low-powered in the pro staff line?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
The Pro Staff 97 racquets have been pretty close in power throughout the different versions. The specs, and specifically average swingweight have all been pretty close, around 320 for the swingweight. This version has a slightly tighter string-bed, or string spacing, which gives a bit lower launch angle, but also a bit more feel for the ball. Troy, TW

Yes, same target specs. Some brands have used like metal weights molded into the core of the handle or in the foam pallet. That said they know how much each grip size mold will add, and can pair that with the frames that or either slightly on the high end or low end of the weight. Troy, TW

It sounds like the EZONE 98 or VCORE 98 would be good choices, as they are a little heavier, and slightly smaller headsizes, adding a bit more precision. There is also the VCORE Pro 97 (310) which is a bit more control, and feel oriented, and slightly lower in power. Of the three, the EZONE 98 would likely be a good choice, and is very popular, but maybe some demos could help you to decide. Troy, TW

@@tenniswarehouse Thank you Troy for your helpful response, I have a follow up question on that. From what I have seen in your reviews on all three rackets, when talking about the Ezone 98 (305) and the Vcore Pro 97 (310), you have given them an overall rating of 80 and 85 respectively. The Vcore Pro has literally been the same or better than the Ezone in 99% of racket areas according to you. With that in mind, isn't the Vcore Pro 97 a much better racket than the Ezone 98? Because the video review of the Ezone was very positive but the written review not so much. Depends on what you want from it. I would likely add a bit of weight around the 3/9 or 2/10 o'clock regions of the hoop to get a little more plow and stability, maybe a 2 to 3 grams. That said, some players might like the swingweight where it is in stock form, so in that case maybe a leather grip or some handle weight would be a good choice. Troy, TW

I haven't typically reviewed the 315g version of the Pro Staff 97 in the past, and also I have been trying to recover from a knee injury. That said, the feel of this v13 is pretty stable, but I don't find quite as much feel for the ball, as with the VCORE Pro 97. Likely due to the slightly thicker beam, and a bit stiffer feel. I also find a slightly bigger sweet-spot with the VCORE Pro 97. If you were to weight up the v13 to 330g, it would likely feel very stable, depending on location of weight. Troy, TW

Thank you in advance for any advice 🎾
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
The Pro Staff 97L will be a bit easier to swing, so easier to maneuver when scrambling. That said it won't feel quite as stable on contact, and will have less plow through. The maneuverability of the 315g version is pretty decent, as the swingweight isn't too high. It would be hard to know for certain if the 97L would be a good choice, unless you were a able to demo it, or if you like to customize the weight with lead or tungsten tape, then you might be able to increase the weight slightly without it being 315g. @tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
@@paultwomey964, it might take a bit of experimentation to dial-in the specs, for what feels best for you. I would likely try starting with a few grams in the hoop around 3/9 or 2/10 o'clock regions, to add some stability, and plow through. From there you could add more to the hoop, or add some weight to the handle, with either weight tape, or tungsten putty. You might also consider trying the racquet in stock form and see how it feels before adding weight. If you have some time, check out this information, which could be pretty helpful: www.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/how_to/customize_your_tennis_racquet.html. Troy, TW

I hope I’m not commenting too late, but I’m currently an intermediate player making my way to advanced level, I’ve used the same racket since I was 12 or so, an aero pro lite (260 grams). I want an heavier racket and so I’m between the pro staff 97 and the RF97, I’m wondering if the RF97 would be too big of a jump when it comes to its weight. I have been hitting the gym for a while now, so I’m definitely stronger than average. I live in a place where there are no stores which let me demo rackets. Would you recommend the pro staff 97 due to its lighter weight, or should I just go for the RF97?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
It sounds like the Pro Staff 97, which is 315 grams unstrung is the better option, and is still a pretty big jump in weight compared to the Pure Aero Lite. Not to say that you shouldn't use the RF97, as you mentioned you are stronger than average. That said, I think to be effective with the RF97 it takes strength combined with high level technique. It would seem like the Pro Staff 97 would be plenty heavy, and even if you needed to, you could always add a bit of weight tape to the hoop for more plow through. If you go with the RF97, without testing it out first, and then find out it is a struggle to play with over time, you can't do much to it to make it feel lighter. Also, since you have been using the Pure Aero Lite for a while, have you given thought to going with a heavier version of that racquet, Pure Aero (300 grams), or Pure Aero Tour (315 grams)? Often times players who grow up with a certain type of racquet, and feel, will find that it becomes somewhat of an extension of their arms, and often times revert back to that type of feel. Hope that helps, Troy, TW

If you want to add a little more plow, you could try adding some weight to the head of the racquet. Maye a couple grams at 3/9 or 2/10 o'clock locations would be a good start, to see how it feels when swinging it. In order to maintain the balance or headlight feel, you could also add a bit of weight in the handle. There is a 20 gram difference between the racquets, but you may want to experiment with small amounts of weight initially, to see what feels best for you. Also, the weight you add the head of the racquet will make a bigger difference or be more noticeable than the weight you add to the handle. Troy, TW

The feel is definitely different, with the Pro Staff being a bit more firm overall, and the Blade having a bit more flex to the frame. Maybe a bit more string life with this new v13, as it is a bit more dense. The launch angle isn't as low as most 18x20's, so more spin friendly in that sense, maybe a slightly closer to a 16x20. Power is a bit easier, as it feels more maneuverable, whippy, and a bit stiffer than the Blade 98 18x20, but I think in stock form their is a bit more potential power with the Blade 98 because of that higher swingweight, it just takes a bit more work on average to get the racquet speed. Thanks Troy-I surmised as much. I have enjoyed my Yonex Ezone DR 98s and the quality control was spot on with both racquets being basically identical in weight and balance. I can’t say I had the same experience with the Wilson racquets I’ve owned which is what’s causing the hesitation coz the changes made to the new Prostaff is compelling. I use a soft poly at a low tension so that provides some additional power which should help being that both sticks are pretty low powered. I think that as long as the Yonex is not too anemic and muted, I am leaning towards it since it is more arm friendly. Sorry about the long write up but hoping that it is helpful to anyone who may be struggling with a similar decision.

@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
For optimal performance go with Wilson Champion's Choice, and we like it strung around 55 to 57 pounds. Troy, TW

@@tenniswarehouse How about cheaper strings setup? Thanks for the great advice as always Troy. Cheers
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
@@bern83, Wilson Duo Power is a cheaper alternative to Champion's Choice. Or you can always make your own hybrid, something like Tourna Big Hitter Silver mixed with Wilson Sensation Control, or Head Velocity MLT would be good and fairly inexpensive. Troy, TW

@@tenniswarehouse Thanks for the recommendations Troy! In your opinion, will Volkl Cyclone 17 or Solinco Hyper G goes well with the PS97L? Cheers
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
@@bern83, Sure, I would likely go with a 1.20mm on either of those, and I usually string around 47, but I tend to like a bit looser to help with comfort, and sweet-spot. Maybe 50 pounds would be nice, or whatever you usually prefer. Troy, TW

How does it compare to the Blade 98 (16x19) and Yonex Vcore Pro 97?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
Similar in maneuverability to the VCORE Pro 97 310, but this one is a bit stiffer and not quite as much feel or comfort. It is more maneuverable feeling compared to the Blade 98 16x19 v7, and a bit stiffer, and slightly more precise. The Blade 16x19 v7 is softer feeling, packs more plow, and a bit bigger sweet-spot. Great review, just bought one, which strings and tension would you recommend for this racquet? I currently use Luxilon 4G @ 55 lbs in a Blade Team BLX 104. Thanks Guys!!
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
If you like the feel of 4G, then I might consider trying the 4G Soft, and dropping tension closer to 50 pounds, as it is a smaller headsize, and is a more control oriented frame. We also enjoyed strings like Hyper-G 17, Volkl Cylone 18, and ALU Power 1.20, strung somewhere around 50-52 pounds, as those thinner string add some feel, spin, and a bit more power as this frame offers a lot of control. Which one has more power, control and precision? This one or Head Gravity Pro?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
This one with the 97 headsize gives more precision. A bit more power with the headsize, and swingweight of the Gravity Pro, as long as the maneuverability is not an issue, as it does have a higher swingweight. Troy, TW

It was a ncode six one 95. Red frame with white on each side of the frame.

The headsize is a bit bigger with this one, and this version is a lighter and easier to maneuver. The Pro Staff RF97 Autograph is the same frame, but will be a bit heavier than what you currently have. I might also consider the Wilson Blade 98 v7 as it offers a lot of feel, and it comes in two string patterns 18x20 or 16x19. I'm not quite sure if your Six One 95 was 18x20 or 16x18? If you're open to other brands the Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (330) is a great option, and is the racquet I switched to, after Wilson discontinued the Six One 95. Hope that helps, Troy TW

How does this compare to the blade 98. Manueverability specially
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
This one is more head light, and has a lower swingweight, so it maneuvers easier than the Blade 98. It also feels a bit more precise. The Blade 98 offers more plow through, feels a bit more plush, and a slightly bigger sweet-spot. Troy,TW

How does this compare with prestige mp youtek (now prestige pro 320gr 18x20) I am considering to switch from that one to the prostaff. I have a one-handed backhand, I generate lots of spin with forehand and I have a flat and slice serve, I am aggressive baseliner player.
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 2 года назад
This Pro Staff 97 v13 is a bit lighter (roughly 5 grams), has a bit firmer feel, and provides a bit easier power and spin. Control and precision are still the primary traits, but the older Prestiges like the Youtek were pretty low powered. Troy, TW

@@tenniswarehouse But the new prestige pro vs the prostaff 97 315gr 16x19. Which one will be better ?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse Год назад
The Pretige Pro has great feel, and a pretty comfortable on the arms, but a little less power or energy return than the Pro Staff 97 v13. The Pro Staff 97 v13 will be a bit easier to maneuver, and a bit easier power, but not quite the level of feel or comfort of the Prestige Pro. So better depends on your perspective, and what feels better when you are hitting with them. Troy, TW
