Hi everyone! A week ago I attended my first real time attack event, Global Time Attack Finals 2020. I competed in Enthusiast class and I think I did well based on how the car is set up. The Honda S2000 Club Racer didn't skip a beat! The only thing I did to the car the entire weekend was adjust the tire pressures! If you're interested in attending Global Time Attack I highly recommend it. The whole even was well run.
I may come back next year with some real modifications on my car in an attempt to be competitive.

Faster than Dustin Williams spoon s2000 in a CR! Impressive and amazing driving your lines are so clean!
@champloogamingtv7447
@champloogamingtv7447 3 года назад
Dustin spent like 30 grand on spoon parts/running and still didn’t do better than a relatively stock s2000 🤣🤣🤣 money doesn’t buy skill
@toddxhiggins
@toddxhiggins 3 года назад
It's still a stock motor/driveline for the most part though so all that exterior stuff isnt going to do much so not all that surprising. Dustin will get faster with more practice but he's in the tough situation where he needs to constantly be upgrading the car for RU-vid rather than practicing driver mod.
@champloogamingtv7447
@champloogamingtv7447 3 года назад
@@toddxhiggins you forgot to mention the exhaust, header, intake manifold, and performance ecu, that’s far from stock, also has major aero and weight reduction from removing soft top
@toddxhiggins
@toddxhiggins 3 года назад
@@champloogamingtv7447 all that does next to nothing on a f20c so negligible gains there. And it's got basic af aero. And half of it was broken haha. If anything all those spoon parts that he has to use are holding him back in the grand scheme of things. Jason is a great driver so that's where the time difference is made up. If Dustin was to focus that much on driving he'd be a hell of a lot faster too.

@moustachio334 3 года назад
@@toddxhiggins all of that does a lot of on an F20. F20s (this CR is an F22 anyways) aren’t “maxed out” engines from the factory. Those are just myths perpetuated by ricers. Spoons first few cars made 275hp at the crank with their ecu and thinner head gasket, thermo switch and fan switch, header/exhaust. But don’t trust a company that raced their cars and tested their parts for said car in different racing divisions in Japan for a decade. Go listen to a random person on the S2000 forum.

Thanks for sharing, I actually like how you kept the power mods stock, gives a really good benchmark how fast a relatively stock S2k can run on these tracks.
@rolandotillit2867
@rolandotillit2867 3 года назад
The sketchiness under braking is because the stock CR suspension doesn't have enough rebound damping, leads to nose diving, and too much forward weight transfer. It's good for left foot braking to adjust turn in(think new Miata with it's ridiculous body roll). Although anything over 3.2 degrees of front camber will also cause some front wandering under braking.
@DIYGuysvideo
@DIYGuysvideo 3 года назад
With stickier tires and less camber the braking instability wasn’t as bad but it was probably also the tires that kept things a bit more under control. Good to know about the front camber though!
@rolandotillit2867
@rolandotillit2867 3 года назад
@@DIYGuysvideo You may be able to compensate for that a little bit. A little bit of toe in and a little more caster will let you back off the camber a little bit. Adding caster will give your more dynamic camber, and the toe in will slightly increase the contact patch under braking. Not saying add all the caster and toe, but you can play with the other two. Of course, you should let the wear pattern, pressures and temperatures guide you. That'll let you know if you're using the tires properly.

I particularly appreciated your post run analysis reference increased negative camber giving more turn-in AND oversteer. Great video thanks.

Have you tried a Dyno sessions with a Hondata tuner and lowered VTEC crossover? You’d love the difference it makes on the mid-hi powerband for corner exit acceleration.

I am going to be trying out the new BalladeSport replica of the ASM S Special. It has been delayed a couple months.
@moustachio334
@moustachio334 3 года назад
@@DIYGuysvideo a replica of an ASM? I didn’t know one existed. That should really give you a bump in horsepower between 6000-8000 rpm in combination with the HFC.
@moustachio334
@moustachio334 3 года назад
@@DIYGuysvideo hopefully you don’t let Ballade tune it. Not that they are bad tuners but because I’ve seen their main tuner intentionally not lower vtec and when asked why he did it, he said it makes the car faster. I was flabbergasted that a good tuner couldn’t understand a basic principle in physics that an object in motion stays in motion and the ability for an engine to rev to its powerband faster will be a more powerful motor. The numbers don’t lie, I’ve seen a 30whp difference around 5000-6000rpm with header, test pipe, and exhaust just by lowering the vtec crossover. There’s a video of the tuner of RU-vid video of him fumbling his words trying to justify his actions. Up until then I liked Ballade and the video they were making.

Also the tires you use by their nature have that race tire on the edge feel especially compared to something like an RS4. It doesn't help that the S2k is a snappy car to begin with.

Hey, Jason! Hope you're doing well. I need some help since you are my go-to for s2k maintenance/repairs. S2Ki is not as helpful compared to your personal knowledge/experience. I recently flushed my clutch master cylinder. A month later, all of a sudden, my clutch feels like I've lost a tiny, but noticeable, bit of pressure. Now, it takes much, much more effort to get into gear and extremely hard to get into reverse. I can also slip out of gear somewhat easily without engaging the clutch. Can you give me advice please? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Jason!

I think they are capable of being fast, but I simply could not beat on them lap after lap. 2nd hot lap was almost always the fastest and then I had to chill out of multiple laps in order to cool the tires down.
