Glock 19 Does it All ?! [FULL REVIEW...Glock 23 too]

The Glock 19 was one of my first combat pistols, purchased in 1989. That gun is still with me and shown in this review. This gun serves as a primary home defense gun for us to this day [shown!]. I reconnect in my original excitement in getting this cool gun way back then in this by-request review. In many peoples' way of thinking, the Glock 19/23 is the perfect combat handgun. Somewhat more compact than their full size counterparts, they can flex into home defense, primary sidearms, concealed carry, BOK, vehicle, and recreational POUs. To make the review self-contained firepower, fieldstrip, accessorizing, accuracy, 4th Gen considerations [preferred now], and ergonomics are again reviewed. I include a few updated thoughts on my approach to the type while I’m at it. The Glock 19/23 is light, reliable, very accurate, easy to shoot, and will out last your generations. ////////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 10 out of 10

Thanks Nutn for all the vids. The Glock 23/19 have a special place in my heart. I carried one (g23) for years as an LEO and it never did me wrong. Through rain, sweat and snow it kept truck'n. So, naturally when I left public service I bought a 19 and it is my most common ccw piece. Keep on keeping on, peace.

The G19 is my very first pistol. Completely spoiled with it's reliability. After watching TNP for a while and studying them, TNP totally helped me with my purchase of my first CC pistol. As a smaller dude, it's rather hard to conceal, but I make it work. Will probably go to the G43 for summer carry. With it's 5 years of service and tons of rounds down range, no failures of any kind what so ever. Can't thank TNP enough for helping me with my choice, and education on CC. HEY NUT'N....Can you say SOG FLASH TANTO BLADE? My fave EDC blade, I'm lovin it. I appreciate all you and your channel does. Thank you for your service. God bless.

Absolutely GREAT vid, Nutn. I've had a Gen 2 1989 Glock for ages. Incredible gun. Period. Got a Gen 4 to give it a little semi-retirement. The Gen 4 rocks. Period. Had to watch this video even though I know the G19 like the back of my hand. You did it total justice...and Feature Length all the way!

Great review. I just want to say thanks for all your videos. I recently made my first handgun purchase. In part because of your reviews. After a lot of research and watching your channel i decided on the glock 19. I live in california so the gen 4 is unavailable. I have to wait the 10 days before i can pick up my gun. But i am very excited to start hitting the range and becoming proficient with my new firearm. Thanks again and hope to see more of the cool videos you create.

Coming up on 1911's and S&W wheel guns it took awhile for me to even try that "plastic" gun, lol, I still remember the newscasters going on about how it could defeat a airport metal detector, rotf, that caused a mild panic for awhile. I got my first G-17 in a trade many years ago and within a half hour shooting it I fell in love, I currently own a 17, 19 (x2), 30 & 36 most days one of the 19's is ccw, I do use the brass stacker rods in most of them, needed or not I sleep better using them. Great vid, most ppl don't think much about the 19 anymore, glad you brought attention back, if you do revisit it again, I'd like to hear about which barrel/caliber swaps can safely be made on which frames.

You nailed it. "Marksman fundamentals." Been an IPSC shooter for years and can shoot quarter sized groups all day at 18 yards w/ my 3# trigger 1911 race guns. Shorter sight radius with the G19 and I suck. Have found out why. Glock trigger and need work on my marksmanship skills. Great review! You've given me new hope!

This is, without a doubt, the quintessential EDC gun. Isn't it the most popular 9mm pistol in the entire world? Glad I have mine. I've gone away from it twice, once for a Steyr S9A1, and most recently the HK VP9. Both times, I came back to the Glock 19 Gen 4. For me, it is the perfect gun for EDC.

Excellent vid. I had no choice. I walked into "GUNS for the good guys" in CT. I was looking for a new one, but they were wiped out. Over in the USED case a guy was standing over a used G19 gen 3. He got tired of waiting for a rep (as usual, that's normal there) anyway I waited almost 40 on top of the already 30 min waited. I bought it used with meprolite nights & 1 mag for $369 out the door. it also has the extended slide lock. It functions perfectly. I bought 3 more mags and a new steel guide rod (just because I like it). I'm a 1911 guy but this is my edc now. Warm weather I carry a G42. You just can not beat a Glock.

I really like my G19; it has eaten everything I fed it, even steel case ammo with no problems. Only FTFs I saw out of it was when I let others shoot it...likely due to limp wrist or weak grip. Thank you for the vid Nutn'!

I've been carrying my G23 CCW for over 10 years and I love it. I'm 5'10" 155lbs so it tends to print in the summer months. I recently picked up a G27 for hiking and like it a lot better for the summer months. I use a De Santis IWB for my g23 and a Carry Pardner for the g27. I'm not a fan of the paddle on the pardner. During archery season I was carrying a G36s because it fit nicely under my safety harness. The upside with the G23 is that I can easily convert it to 9mm for plinking and for when my wife wants to join in. She shoots the .40 just fine for self defense but she prefers the 9mm at the range. I thought about a .22 conversion but I don't like the magazine availability and I'm already a little put off over the availability of specific .22 loads. I guess I've chaulked them up as a novelty because they cost about as much as an individual firearm, but I do concede you get valuable trigger time. For that I use a lazer and click at a wall, good enough.

Fun, enjoyable review. I've been CC'ing a Glock (23 for a few years, then consolidated to 9mm so now a 19 for 8+ years) and find it's my most frequent EDC. I've thought about a G26 for a long time but instead opted for a Glock "twin" -- the S&W M&P 9c. The ergonomics fit my hand better and I liked the two extra rounds over the 26 for the same form factor. Reading many of the other comments, I figured somebody had to throw a bit of love to a Glock competitor :-)

I bought a gen4 17 a few years ago right after they came out and fell in love right away. The only two things I don't like is the slick finish on the slide and the plastic sights but, those can be easily fixed. I like how on the Glock the gun can be completely taken apart and cleaned. My only wish is that Glock would offer more custom upgrades straight from the factory; like sights, ceracoat, trigger upgrades, slide release upgrade. Please do a review on the Glock 42.

I used to be a .40 fan and the first two guns I ever bought were the sigma 40ve & the G23. As soon as I started actually shooting and getting a little bit of training I was sold on the 9mm especially the G19. G19 over G23 any day for me, makes things a lot easier & makes me better.

Bought my first Glock (Gen 2 17) in early 1992. Thousands of rounds through it and NEVER had a issue. Shot lots of lead through it too. Sure didn't know about the lead issue with the rifling back then. Again, no problems. Didn't clean for a couple years while shooting often. No problems. Love the thing.
