Glock 19 Hard trigger fix question

In this video I show my gen 3 G19 that started having a very hard trigger. The gun still fires and operates fine, just with a hard "clicky" spot at the end of the trigger pull. It feels like it comes up on a hard stop before firing. It used to be smooth and clean. It was hand polished to get a nice trigger pull years ago. Please HELP me fix this issue if you can. Especially if you are a Glock armorer or have seen this before and know what I need to do, please help me fix this. Thank you.

3x Certified Glock Armorer, worked on hundres of guns for a municipal police dept. This is not uncommon in Gen 3's. Replace the trigger bar. There will be some sort of deviation in it from manufacuturer spec that will be completely un noticible to the naked eye. The symptom is that the trigger will feel like its stacking heavier and heavier towards the rear of the trigger pull. It gets progressively heavier. It will feel like 15-20 lbs at some point before it finally wont break at the end of the pull.

Thank you for the information. I have the parts, I just need to replace them. Your confirmation that what I see and feel is accurate makes me feel better. Thank you very much.

So what I found was that the connector has a sweet spot where it likes to be if its too far in your trigger wont reset or too light of a reset. And if it too far out your trigger bar hangs up on the connector causing hard trigger pull. Take out your connector and bend it in a bit with a pliers and insert it back into place. then bend it out slightly little by little till your trigger is crisp and functioning perfectly. nice crisp trigger pull and reset.

Check your firing pin channel liner, I had a same issue with little more problem of slide. My Glock 19 Gen 4 had a very light & smooth trigger pull, but when I sent my slide for polishing as it had lots of wear & tear marks after a long use, when it came back and I roe-assembled the slide on frame, the trigger was almost freezed, I had to use another finger of my support hand to give force to my strong hand's trigger finger to pull it. You can say, it was around 50 pounds heavy trigger, which I was unable to pull. Then after inspection it deeply, I found the channel liner issue, that was stopping firing pin spring to work properly. I just changed the channel liner and the problem was fixed. Now I have again a smooth & light trigger pull.

That is definitely a possibility on mine. I will get a new liner and try it. Thanks. I have looked at it and cleaned it but will check again and just order a new one to be sure.

Would be nice if you showed the internals, slide and receiver. I am a Glock armorer, the first thing I would check is the firing pin safety, remove it and clean. Could be trash under the safety in the spring. Then the connector. Please make another video showing the internals.

Thanks for commenting. After fiddling with it I think it is something with the connector. I will try to make another video showing internals. but tight timelines right now.

Hey John, I had the same problem come up this weekend on a Nomad build. New trigger kit, smooth install. Oiled all the sexy bits. After 30 or so pulls it started getting tighter and tighter, you could feel the binding. Pulled it apart so many times I feel like I should be teaching a class. Finally swapped connector (looked identical but it was a gen 4 to a gen 5) and the problem has gonna away. Did that fix your issue also?

Thanks for the video, an thanks to those who replied because yall helped me, I did a polish job an guess I pushed the connector in with to much force resulting in a very hard trigger pull, I bent the connector out a little an now I'm back to a 5 1/2 to 5 pd trigger pull, so much better

what connector????
@minsuchoe2431

So there’s two main types of engagement when it comes to your trigger pull. The cruciform engaged with the striker and your connector engaged with the trigger bar. If your connectors angle is wrong or off that can cause a reset issue (that Audible click you hear) is the connector slipping off the trigger bar. Simultaneously the cruciform dropping off the striker..and then as the slide recoils back that resets everything else in place for the next shot.. now seems to me without seeing it that it in fact is a connector issue. Because off top it’s looking like you need to apply more pressure than necessary to get the trigger bar to engage the connector and reset. OR! A trigger housing spring issue. When installed the spring has to be vertical with the cruciform if crooked can cause issues. Or could be just an issue with the spring itself So check into all those components too and there’s vid to show you how to do your safety checks and assembly an all so make sure your doing things in proper order . And another thing it mostlikely is not a cleaning issue glocks have incredible reliability in even the worst conditions. But still keep up with common maintenance but still not the issue your dealing with…so I hope this is a little more helpful maybe to basically and quickly explain what’s happening inside when your pulling on your trigger.

Thank you very much. I have been trying to adjust the connector angle bc that seemed like it was the issue. I need to check the trigger housing springs too, though again, I have and they seemed fine and put back correctly. I did get some replacement parts and may start swapping them out. It is all very clean and oiled. Thank you for the detailed comment and advice. That is what I was looking for when I made the video. I have a pretty good idea of what I am doing, that is one of the reasons I was frustrated about not being able to fix it. I appreciate your time. Thank you.

Any time man I’m glad it helped you out..yea my intention was to just let you know the mechanics so you can break it down and figure it out but I’m almost positive it’s a connector issue so as soon as your parts come in drop it in and see what happens but you shouldn’t need to mess with anything so drop it in just as it comes and see if it fixes the issue. Again glad to help. And if you want, reply when you get it corrected I’d like to know what it turned out to be

No idea John. Sounds like some tolerances are off. I’ve got a bone stock Gen 3 19 with a good trigger so I never messed with it. Hopefully someone will be able to help you out.👍🏻

If you haven’t fixed this yet, try adjusting your connectors bend angle. It probably needs to come away from the housing a bit. Just look up how to adjust, I had this same issue then tried that, I figure the spring gets compressed over time and caused the issue.

Thanks. I have done this and tinkered with it several times. Still has the issue. I ordered new parts and have not installed them yet bc I have too many projects going on at once. Thank you for commenting and giving me solid advice. I appreciate it.

I don't own a Glock the only thing I can think of is trash or junk down in the interior of the trigger assembly. Just my thoughts on that.

I ordered a parts replacement kit and never swapped the parts out yet. So no I have not fixed it yet. I played with it tinkered it and did everything I could and still had the issue. So my only option is new parts.

I just had this happen to me. felt like if i pulled to hard i would break it and the trigger would not drop. this was right after a 25 cent polish. The connector had been push toward the housing to much. using the old reverse trick, I pulled out the connector and installed it backward in the housing and lifted it 3 times gently ( the bend will be away from housing) re-installed and done. here's a vid. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z6BK2bglB4I.html Best of luck
