I have been carrying on and off, a Glock Model 23 for more than fifteen years now! It is a great CC weapon. Practice with this gun, and you will hopefully fall in love with it, the way that my wife and I have. That's right, the wife also love the Model 23. Gain a good purchase of the Glock 23, and also shoot this pistol as often as you can, and the "Snappiness" will be non-existent. I also own the M&P 40, which I carry with an IWB Holster. You get fifteen rounds with the M&P 40, compared to the 13 with the Glock. The .40 is not only a great carry load, it is also terrific as a home self defense companion. Excellent review, and you have a new sub, my friend!
The first Glock that I ever bought was a blue label Gen 3 Glock 22 with Glock factory night sights. It is identical to the Glock that we use at work, for the department that I work for. Because I have trained for 13 plus years with Glock 22’s, I have come to really love the .40 S&W caliber. I now own multiple Glocks and other handguns and various firearms and love almost every single one of them but the .40 S&W caliber will always have a special place in my heart. This past Friday, on the 29th of May, I went and bought a blue label Gen 4 Glock 23 with Glock factory night sights. My daughter graduated from high school this weekend so I have not had a chance to take my G23 to the range yet but when I am finally able to do so, I will be ecstatic to put the gun through its paces.
The first review where after the first two minutes I wasn't like all right onto the next video LOL! Very informative and interesting video, thank you very much and have a good night! I have the Glock 32 and I love it and I just ordered the Glock 23 barrel for it so I can start shooting 40, most people at the range look at me different LOL!
Good video, I've got 11 Glocks and 6 are Gen4's, the 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, and the 23. I put the large beavertail back straps on all of them and I also added the Hogue slip on rubber grips to all of them because the Hogue rubber grips have a nice palm swell on them which is missing on the Glock frames, now they fit my hands like they were custom made for them. My EDC is the 23......Have a safe one!
Best of the best! Love the model 23, if I could only have one gun to own, the 23 is it, hands down. Swap out barrels and shoot 4 different calibers. Enjoy
Great video! Very informative and helpful to those looking at one. I just ordered me a 23 today after owning the 26 & 19. Can't wait to get it in. Good job on video.
Thanks for your response! The wear issue issue seems to be only happening with my gun . You and a lot of 23 owners I spoke with do not have this issue . Thought I would explain the conversion barrel option , I have a 19 as well , but only wanted to carry one pistol in my bugout bag along with my keltec 2nd gen 2000 . Seemed cool option since if shtf i could be scavenging 9mm more readily than 40sw . I prefer the 40 s&w as self defender round and shoot it proficiently. Thanks agin K
I've had one for years, and after 800 rounds, I have never had an issue. I always use Federal 115g, from Wal-Mart, and it works perfectly. I did put a ss guide rod, and the recoil has been reduced.
I will be buying one. I have a 2nd gen Glock 17 which is my home defense. A Glock 23 will be my everyday carry. Also thinking about a Glock 27. But it is short on the grip.
Great gun have had it for two years now and it’s excellent have some tritiums on there as well, also a double diamond connector and a polish job shots great I just bought a pps M2 for daily carry since I live in south Florida I both need a gun and light clothing
+paolo gonzalez There is a bit more recoil shooting the 23 but it not a big increase. I really like the compact Glocks. They did a good job with them and the recoil is very manageable.
Both are great guns. I have and really like both. They are the same size so there is no issue with that, The only issue is caliber, the .40 is a bit more powerful but you get fewer rounds. I recommend that you spend a lot of time at the range with the 23 to get used to it. I am sure that you will like it if you give it enough range time. It is a solid choice for CCW.
Phantom Outlaw sounds like i made a solid choice. .i like shooting the 40 cal round it is fun, more punchy than the 9mm, which i own plenty of. the only difference to me is the cost of ammo. but its not a deal breaker. i might get a g19 later but for now im going to put a lot of rounds through it. thanx man..
Like m4maniac15 says, you lucked out not buying the 19. That one you would be stuck with only 1 caliber. With the 23, you can buy a 40-9mm barrel to convert it to 9mm for a little over $100. You can also convert the 23 to 357 SIG! .40 cal magazines will also accept 9mm cartridges in a pinch. But, if you convert to 9mm, pick up a couple 9mm magazines as they are identical to the 40s externally! One of the most versatile reliable guns on the market!
+Phantom Outlaw. Thank you. I have made up my mind. I will get a Glock 23 Gen 4 with Tritium sights. Will purchase during the upcoming gun show in November for a 15% discount.
Just wondering if you have purchased a 9mm conversion barrel ? I have , the wolf alpha and 9mm mags works flawless. I also notice in the stock 40 configuration I have some unique wear from the duel recoil system is scuffing finish off bottom of the barrel , are you experiencing this fenom with your 23 gen 4 ? Called glock and emailed a photo they said it was normal wear . What ? Not seeing this on any of my other gen 4 . K ps and yes the beaver tail back straps are genius makes the gun work for me. Point of aim improved.
I can't say what is the best, I only liked one that I used for my G23 as well as my G19. It also holds my G17 and G22 but they are too big for me to feel comfortable carrying. The holster is made by Tagua. It is a OWB and is black leather. Very thick and sturdy. I really like this holster. I rarely carry the G19 or G23 anymore as I now have a S&W M&P Shield that is much slimmer and more concealable. I use Foxx holsters for it and Foxx does make holsters for Glock. I use the Foxx hybrid IWB and the Little Foxx IWB. Very happy with both. Hope that helps a bit.
+shawn douglas New that is a good price. They sell for around $560 brand new for a Gen4. With the 400 rounds included (about $145.00) it is a decent deal. Make sure it is in good condition. I am sure you will enjoy the G23
+JUAN SANIN My opinion is simply that, MY OPINION. I say that so that you understand that it is not the definitive answer. I think it is a very nice firearm BUT I prefer the S&W M&P Shield. My reasoning is that they are both very good firearms. The Shield has a magazine capacity of 7 or 8 while the 43 has a capacity of 6 or 6. While I do not use the external safety, the Shield does have that option. And finally, the Shield is over $100 less expensive.Again, MY opinion favors the Shield and this is not a bash on the Glock 43. I just prefer what the Shield brings to the table.
+Mark Ridgway I am sorry that you do not like the Glock. There are many other fine choices out there for us to chose from. The Glock is not THE choice for everyone. Many do like them and others do not.
