So they can have their cake and eat it to. If you have a .40 Glock 27, 23, 22, you can plink say 200 rounds with cheap 9mm ammo with the conversion barrel then finish with 50 rounds of .40 ammo to keep their skills up, without having to buy 2 pistols. Then carry the pistol with the .40 barrel with hollow points for more punch than 9mm. It also gives you more versatility with ammo availability when ammo is hard to find.@@dilloncoota1164
The G23 is my favorite Glock. I had a gen 3 and traded it a while back and I have always regretted it, so I plan on adding another one sometime next year. I have a G22 (gen 3) and a G19 (gen 4) and like both of them, but the 23 wins the day for me. Really good video, Buffalo!
Liking the POV camera. I too, would never let go of my G23 Gen 3. It has been so reliable that it is the only SD pistol I carry, whether it is winter or summer out here in the high desert. Always enjoy your videos Buffalo.
+J “SaltyThoughts” Sweatt Thanks. This camera sure simplifies things in the winter when it's hard to drag out my other camera and tripod. It's good to hear your G23 has earned your trust too. These are fantastic SD pistols. I appreciate you tuning in to my videos.
Hey Buffalo, this is your neighbor to the south of ya and the Glock 23 Gen4 is my family's nightstand gun. While .40 is not my favorite cartridge, I like the confidence knowing that anyone breakin' into my house is going to stop if hit with a .40S&W....immediately. I enjoy your vids bud.
Good to see your range is no longer under water. Gotta love the Glock 23 mine has operated flawlessly for years till the night sights started dimming away. If 357 Sig Ammo wasn't so expensive I would get myself a barrel for that. Glad to see you used the background music it kind of classes up your channel.
+MrHolster The creek dropped into its banks. The range itself doesn't usually flood but the field between my home and the range floods often. I know what you mean about the price of .357 sig. It's ridiculous. I'll have to buy some more background music off of you soon.
Hey Buffalo, I too have a G23 and really like it. It was a LEO trade-in and had some issues, but I called Glock and they simple asked me to send it to them. A week later I got it back with virtually all internals replaced at no cost to me, so I basically ended up with a new G23. I recent purchased a G30SF in 45ACP and really, really like it. Almost every review had the same two comments; soft shooting and accurate. It totally lives up to the reviews. This will be my new EDC. I’m in California, so it will take some time, but local sheriff is a strong support of 2A rights. I would really like to see your review of this weapon and I’m guessing you may find it to be your new EDC. Love your channel and down to earth reviews with a straight forward, common sense approach on weapons. Keep up the great work. Bill
redneckmini14 I guarantee you won't regret it. They're the most versatile handgun you can buy, they're highly reliable, and they feel great in your hands. But just in case you don't like the grips, you can buy grip tape and slap it on there. That's what I did with my Glock 16 and 40.
Good video. Those Gen 3's will run forever. My 1st defensive pistol was a Ruger P95.It was a heavy tank but it always went bang when the trigger was pulled.I also kept a Winchester 1300 12 gauge on the back window rack of my truck. That was a long while back.
Proud G23 owner here. Which brand of JHP in your opinion is best for concealed carry and home defense? Thank you for the content. Great video sir. God Bless!
I bought my first G23 in 1990 and have been EDCing it ever since (yup, a gen2... no rail, no finger grooves, plain vanila). Have a couple of newer gen 3, a G27 and some other handguns but nothing works for me like this first G23gen2. Shot ipsc, idpa, been to a number of schools with it and plink with it all the time. Would not trade it for the world... Yup, have to face it: I'm a regular G23 fan boy!
Hey Buffalo Guy, I come from a 1911 Family, My Dad now deceased was a Custom 1911 Pistolsmith! When Glocks 1st hit the industry in the mid 80's we referred to them as Tupperware Guns and laughed at the UGLY Gun. My son was issurd a Glock 22 as his duty firearm in 2007 and I got him a Glock 27 as his off duty firearm bust as we all understand when you are a Police Officer you are really never off duty. as I handled it before gifting it to him i decided to try one for myself and probably 35+ Glocks later (9mm's, 40's, 45acp and the 45GAP) here I am, with at least another 5 being gifted to my son! Although Dad would be rolling in his grave with me carrying and shooting Glocks he would be happy that I have a common interest in the shooting sport with my son as I did with him ';-) Thanks for this video...Mike
What a great comment. Thanks for that. You sound a lot like me. I remember the first Glock I ever picked up and how I thought " who would want one of these"....lol well times change and so do people. I have come to enjoy the Glock design. Thanks again for the comment, I'm glad you found my video, hope you subbed.
I'm petting my 23 right now and your right on all comments. Great carry and target pistol. Can't say when I bought it, however the price has increased. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
First of all, great shooting. Love my glock 23 gen.3, just about have 1000 rounds thru it. Wanted to point out major failures using 9mm conversion barrel, without changing internal parts. Had my glock lock up and jam twice using tulammo(steel cased) and federal(aluminum cased). Also, double feeding with federal. Have recently shot 200 rounds using Remington cmc 9mm brass ammo with no issues, extractor appears to eject harder brass casings MUCH better. Just thought I'd share that. Thank you for your vid. Happy shootkng
Up here in Michigan pistols cost a little more then most other states. I bought a Glock 21 Gen 2 in 1994 for $ 545. I just bought a Sig P320 compact in 9mm and a caliber x-change kit in 357 sig. I watch MrHolster videos also.
+NAHAAFB I enjoy MrHolsters stories and I like hearing his opinions on guns. I told him I was gonna steal his background music...lol I like the G21. I like the P320 as well. You have some fine pistols. Thanks for tuning in.
Nice vid man I really like how you did the ending with the voice carrying over on to the slowmo! I thought all you had to do to clean those suckers is wash um in muddy water! I always say I'm not a glock fan but that's not entirely correct. I'm not a .45 10mm frame size fan. There just to dam big in the grips even in the SF models. The .40 size frames are nice they fit pretty good in the hand for sure. The only reason why I don't own a glock is because of cast bullets, I gotta buy a barrel right after I buy a new gun it just doesn't make sense. But man the pure intchange ablilty of them is amazing! There the small block Chevy of the gun world!
+MIshooter It's funny you mention that ending. It worked out that way as an accident. My GoPro battery died as I was about to end the video. I had the audio going on my Zoom H1 so all the audio was there. I just had to have a small video clip to close out with so I slowed down that last magazine of .40 and used it. I've used that small block chevy analogy before when speaking of Glock pistols. I think it is a good one.
I appreciate this video. Just purchased this last week as my 1st firearm. Why does it seem like everyone hates 40cal? Is recoil that significant or a problem?
10 years ago it was a different story, the 40 was very popular, today it gets a lot of hate which I do not understand. It hits just as hard as it did in it's heyday. I still like it.
Curious to see if 9mm conversion is more reliable with a fresh recoil spring opposed to one that has ran .40 for extended time?? Or a well worn one. Probably just ejector issues tho
+glockerbob The .40 is a great SD caliber and the 23 is the one of the best pistols to fire it from. From some of the comments it sounds like we are in good company Bob, there are a lot of us who carry this pistol.
Buffalo, I agree with your theory that 40SW is falling in popularity. On the flip side, doesn't it seem like 10mm is gaining popularity instead? The Glock 23 is a badass option and the conversion is a huge bonus.
Carry the G23 gen3 99% of the time as well but did add TFO sights to mine, Love and trust both. Good to hear you have a Long list of upcoming videos =)
I’m embarrassed to admit my first semi-auto was a Llama 1911 that jammed a spent case back into the barrel once or twice a magazine. It was a nightmare, and cost me way more trouble than it was worth. To make the story more embarrassing I traded the Llama for $200 off a S&W Sigma .40 cal. That gun sucked. The trigger was horrible, it had a crazy twisting muzzle flip, and I took a lot of flak from my other gun buddies. I was revolver guy back then, I carried a Charter Arms .44 bulldog which was and is a good gun, but I really wanted a Glock. I really didn’t know what Glock to get but I knew I wanted to Glock I just couldn’t afford one. So when I got my government theft refund back I finally had the money to trade the Sigma in on a Glock 23 and a month later it was stolen out of my truck at work. So I cried and cursed and I saved up again and finally bought a Glock 19 and have carried it everyday since. Of course now I have a Glock 43X that is winning my EDC desires. I have a lot more EDC choices actually. I got my first handgun in 1988 when turned 21, so my safe is pretty full now. I’m curious to know if you ever carry more than one handgun?
In my opinion, there's no better pistol than a Glock for personal carry. I own 5 of Glocks, and just like you, I think I've had less than 6 failures in all of them since I was given my first Glock, which was a Glock 16 in 1999. So, in 19 years of shooting nearly every day, I've had between 6 and 7 failures. You just can't beat 'em.
+bcbloc02 I've heard others say this same thing. I think most people shoot 1911s better, that single action trigger on a GOOD 1911 just makes it so easy to score hits. I am not a great shooter with any pistol but I shoot a Glock about as well as anything else I've tried.
Part of the reason why Glocks don't have a good trigger has to do with the stock connector. I've been tinkering with Glocks for about 4 years now. I've noticed with the stock connector, when the trigger breaks, it has this extra room for the trigger to move backwards, thus eventually, the trigger slams into the frame, causing one to jerk the gun. I am used to triggers on guns to where, once the trigger breaks, that's it. There is no more backwards movement of the trigger. To remedy this, I put in a NY1 trigger spring and a V4 race connector. The trigger pull weight is now at 6lbs, but the trigger is smooth and the break is like glass, plus, you don't have the backwards trigger movement once the trigger breaks.
Awesome man, I'd be happy to ship you my 9mm barrel if you want to try before you buy one. My 23 has been by my side longer than any other pistol I own. It hasn't ever given me a reason to doubt it so I just keep reaching for it when it.
Another good one Buffalo....good info about the 23 and a couple other models....not a glock owner but who knows...maybe one day. I sure hope you have that Comanchee 45/410 on the to do list! ;)
+Grandpadew I actually need to order the choke tube for that thing. It belongs to my uncle and he told me to come get it and keep for as long as I want, I just haven't gotten to it. Yes it is on the list!
I hate the way glocks feel in my hand but for some reason I shoot them far better than I shoot most semi autos. Even my buddies subcompact .40 glock I can shoot out at 30-40 yards and hit a target pretty easily. Ive never understood it, but that's why I'm gonna buy a Glock 23 or 22 this weekend more than likely. I cant shoot 1911s as good as I can a glock, and they're so light I could conceal carry either with ease as I'm 6'3 and a big guy.
1911s are notoriously easy to shoot well. I like them for range guns but prefer the Glock for concealed carry due to it's "point and click" operation. Take your time and choose wisely. The 22 may not seem that much larger until you start carrying it.
Well that's what's so weird to me about glocks. I shoot them better than 1911s. As much as I don't like how the grip angle of a Glock feels, I certainly shoot it better and I'll take that. Not saying I can't shoot a 1911, I just do better with the glock. A 1911 in .45 is certainly a must own gun for anyone who's into guns though. It's the American gun
+Ross Carlson You're not the only one to mention this. I do these GoPro videos to keep my channel going through the winter when the days are short and the weather is nasty and I don't have time to set up my main camera and tripod. Or I am just lazy...lol but either way it allows me to post some videos this time of year when I normally wouldn't. I do understand that they are not for everyone.
I think these are like working tools , so if I needed a hammer , I’ll just buy a hammer , in stead of trying to use the side of a machete Instead of spending all that are conversion stuffs , might as well just buy a 9 mm glock .
Barrel and grip are about 5/8"longer on the g22. Factory magazines for the 22 are 15 while the 23 holds 13. That being said the 23 will use the 22 mags. The magazines for the gen 4s can be used with all glocks however the magazines for gen1-3 can't be used with the gen 4s. The new gen 4 has an ambidextrous mag release that requires dual cuts on the mag which the gen 1-3s don't have.
