The slides are known to break on the standard model if taurus would actually fix this problem then it would be a homerun. And I'm a Taurus fanboy. But I can't understand why they are not fixing this issue they will get so many returns they are all going to break eventually. Even people that send them in they are breaking again after a new slide. 😵
I bought my first gun last week, it was the Taurus! So happy with it. Plan on getting MANY MORE, especially with the times we live in. God bless America for me being able to buy these for protection.
I bought my TX22 in April of 2019 because I thought Glock would never make a 22LR. It is an EXCELLENT pistol. No need to buy the Glock for me. My other Glocks have welcomed the TX22 into the safe now...
Appreciate you review. I own 3 TX22's as it is a great weapon for those that are sensitive to recoil and want something fun and cheap to shoot. I have had maybe a few FTF or FTE on the TX22 out of 3 weapons but primarily with one or two exceptions much more reliable than the Glocks I have that took a while to break in. I like the TX22 all the way around with one exception. The barrels that came with mine all lead foul bad after 300 rounds or so. I have contacted Taurus and have received one replacement barrel that was junk never even fit the weapon. No quality control on sending replacement barrels. Some have had to get a 3rd barrel that was right. Problem is the the lands and grooves were not bored concentrically and that there are chatter marks inside the barrel all leading to fouling. I will be calling Taurus tomorrow because I sent them pics of the junk barrel replacement and asked if they wanted the barrel back. No response. I submitted my request in Sept for the new barrels now March. Beware and check the bore of the weapon, pass on any weapon that has crap barrels like the 3 I have. Taurus knows they have this problem and this defeats what is an excellent weapon because they fell down on their quality control.
My Glock 44 has never ever had any misfeeds, misfires, failure to eject, stovepipes, or failure to lock slide open after last shot !!!! I only use CCI 40 grain copper round nose 1235 FPS mini mags. Also comes with adjustable sights. Good day all !
Taurus supplied a replacement barrel for my early version of the TX22 and a replacement rear sight on warranty. Can't complain about their service department, just a bit slow on the barrel replacement. I have well over a thousand rounds through the TX22 with no issues other than the usual rimfire ammo occasional problems like you mentioned. I'm happy with the TX22 performance and it's a fun pistol to shoot. Money well spent. Thanks for the video!
For the GLOCK 44 .22LR... I have put through mine now 800 "CCI BLAZER Rimfire .22lr 40grain" rounds... each shot perfect, no misfires, no stove piping, etc... I tried the Federal Ammo, not so good results, had misfires, a few stove piping, etc... so stopped using it after putting through 200 rounds, as I became tired out with this ammo in the Glock 44. When I first got my GLOCK 44, I did clean it prior to taking it out to the range. And cleaned it after use. I did adjust the sights on the Glock 44 as I was pulling to the RIGHT on the target. Once I adjusted the sights, I was dead on at 35 yards.
I had the same experience with the Glock 44. It did not like the Federal ammo. Failure to feeds and stove pipes galore (great chamber clearing practice). The TX22 just eats everything you put in it (including the aforementioned Federal ammo). It must be noted that my 10/22 ran the Federal fine also. I had exactly zero failures with CCI mini mags in the Glock 44. Love the gun but it is very finicky. If I could only have one 22lr it would be the TX22.
I have the 44 I put a Zev trigger spring and trigger bar. Leave The recoil spring as the Zev spring is too light. No issues with 36 grain ammo Winchester xpert hollow points work great. Good review
I've personally changed the slide release, slide stop, magazine release, front/rear sight and installed a grip plug. It's all compatible from the Gen 5 19.
Had my TX for a while now. Got the Taurus rebate. Love it. I love Glocks but with the 16 rds, the threaded bbl and all, the TX is really a great deal. Great trigger. Great with my can, too. Only thing I would like is a little more weight on it.
2253glen I don't know why you would want MORE weight, but to each their own. If you want more weight, you could try swapping the guide rod for a steel one, (try Lakeline). also adding a light will add a couple of ounces. The PL2 mini Valkrie by O light is an excellent choice and is only about $60. Hella good light, fits my TX as well as my G 45. Enjoy
I have had one failed to feed with my TX22 and it was a Winchester Super X. That makes it zero of my semiautomatic gear that can run Winchester. I am pleased as punch with the TX22 accuracy and price. The Glock is really irrelevant to me. I just came here to validate my superior intellect in choosing the gun that I like and fits my hands that I can afford to buy. Yea me.
^^^This guy is a dick. And also right. :p I too have intellect and a TX22. It will be my trainer gun, as I intend to become an instructor this year, and get as many people behind a gun as possible, before they are taken away.
@@pnotuner1 Wait hold on. I thought to become qualified pistol instructor it was just a small group with a pistol. Are you saying besides the written stuff you have to use a .22 to do that? Thank you.
I'm not qualified on pistols. But it was 2 separate classes for Rifle. And you have to learn how different guns function and lots of safety stuff. And how to teach. Then qualify at the range. But Basic Instructor Training (BIT) first.
Love my TX22. After the first 150-200 rounds it has been absolutely flawless. Kind of a normal break in period I think. 100% reliable. I can't think of any reason anyone would pay the Glock premium for a .22 pistol that doesn't appear to be quite as good as the TX22. The price difference alone will buy 6900 rounds of .22 ammo. If you want a threaded barrel, pony up another $150-200. I'm not anti-Glock, I own 3 and like them all, I'm just anti G44.
Great review, thank you. I would love some warning or fade in or something at the end before the volume 11 music comes on... It's like you finish talking and IMMEDIATELY full blast loud music... lol I was thinking WTF is going on, is one of my other browser tab started to play music? I guess the side note would that music is too loud compare to your speaking volume.
Currently have about 1200 rounds through my TX22, only issues I've had with it were Round Nose Ammo and that was before the 1,000 round count. Now it seems to run pretty much everything.
Glock is undoubtedly one of the best brands of weapons on the market, but watch out for Taurus. They have improved their materials, quality control, prices. Made in Miami, Georgia. Tx, G2c G2s, G3. they are doing a great job, now if there is competition between taurus and others, especially in prices. Good review
Taurus does not support its product...2 weeks of ownership and barrel literally plugged up after 200 rounds, then slide split . Taurus answer..?..12 weeks wait for repairs ( not replace).
@@abluesboy Stop lying. "12 week wait for repair" means you send in parts for examination and they most likely send a replacement. Even Ruger does that. They dont just take your word and start swapping out parts over the phone. And they are popular now for a reason, everyone wants one. Obviously there will be a delay.
So... the TX22 holds more bullets, is more accurate, comes with a threaded barrel, has a better grip, is more reliable, the trigger is better and it's less expensive... hahaha...
Sounds to me like you're trying to make excuses for the Glock. The Taurus has 16 rounds and out of the eight that you shot at the Target four were in the bullseye. I rest my case Rock On Taurus
Your reviews, both of these two guns and several other 22 caliber pistols, have been super helpful and informative. I know nothing. But it seems to me, these (mostly) excellent guns are all firing ammo originally designed a for a revolver. Given the negligible performance difference between the 22 rimfire and the .25ACP, why aren't there any modern, well-designed guns for a round actually designed for autoloaders like the .25ACP? Isn't ACP cleaner and more reliable than rimfire? Heck, they don't bother producing a 357mag autoloader, do they? Why would they, given the availability of 40cal or 10mm? So why the 22lr autoloader instead of a modern, polymer .25ACP? Curious as to your thoughts.
@@Predator42ID 8000 rounds is not a lot of rounds I shoot 500-600 rounds every time I go to the range which is about once sometimes twice a month I have 20,000 through my barrel less than a year. If I were to replace all my barrels after 8000 rounds I would have more barrels than guns
I see issues with the glock 44 polymer slide can be break & crack on the nose part because it’s only polymer and I think it is good when they make it full metal slide
Fired both of these at the Range today. The Glock had failures to extract, while the Taurus had failures to feed. When they did fire, they felt great but the accuracy was better on the Taurus. The trigger on the Taurus was better, loading the magazine was easier on the Glock. Due to the issues I had, I dont think ill be purchasing either.
Love my TX it hates thunderbolts though. Failures to go in battery at least 5 per mag. Every thing else runs fine. You will get the 1 in 400 or so failure to fire, but that’s 22lr.
Glock 44, $400 without a Threaded Barrel, another 150-200 for a Threaded Barrel, overall cost $550-$600. Taurus TX22, comes with a Threaded Barrel and is $300 or less out the door. Yeah I'll take the one where I can buy another gun (10/22) with the leftover money and some bricks of 22 after that.
As a Canadian both the threaded barrel and mag capacity are voided. They both see to be back and forth with their reliability, now its coming down to weight, durability and price, the price difference up here isnt nearly as severe so im thinking G44 ftw?
I think if Taurus can get their barrel issues under control they’ll have a winner. Lots of barrels with deep chattering in the rifling which causes heavy lead build up.
I bought a TX22 and shot over 500 rounds out of the box with no cleaning and had 3 malfunctions, one was a failure to load the next round while suppressed and two light strikes/bad rounds....the barrel had zero buildup and only took two patches to clean...
Over the years I have been collecting 22 pistols S&W 617 and 22A , GSG1911 22 . Recently I got a kel tec P 17 . It is my favorite and the lowest priced pistol .
Funny how Glock puts that little note in their manual that states it won't work with some ammo, and they know that... Yet they advertised it as the BEST and most reliable .22 of all time! They supposedly tested it with virtually every ammo on the market and thousands of rounds of it, thus the reason they took so long developing this pistol. IDK, but I'd probably go with the Taurus just for the simple fact that Glock seems to think their shit don't stink...
Yeah as I think back to all the Glock employee statements about this I think I remember them all saying that they tested it with a bunch of ammo, not that it worked with a bunch of ammo. Lol. The right ammo makes mine go. Thanks for watching!
@Ximos Trilox Look everyone, we have found our very first Glock fanboy in the wild! They tend to make up excuses as to why products don't work right, even though they have NO stake in the company... 🤣
shojus I bought the Taurus because you get twice the gun for half the money. 16 round mags, threaded barrel STANDARD, runs Winchester white box, Rem Thunderbolt, et FLAWLESSLY! All for HALF the cost of the Glock, (with the OPTIONAL threaded barrel), What's not to love!?!
I appriciate the comparison, I'm very conflicted between these two, the manual of arms is nice on the g44 because I can practice draw to first shot with my same holsters as my g19 but the ammo price difference isn't that much anyway
I would go with the tx22. I have one and it is AWESOME. Very accurate and reliable ,and just feels very nice in the hands. There are reports that the g44 slides are cracking and has some feeding issues.
Would much rather have the Taurus. Reliable shoots more rounds better grip, threaded barrel ,Cost less Easy Choice. You would be better off buying a 22LR conversion kit for a Glock.
The list of better options for the money in a .22 pistol are endless in my opinion. Taurus, s&w, ruger .22- browning buckmark even. All threaded options for much less.
The reason for the comparison is because Taurus came under new management and thus adjusted their quality control. In the last ten years Taurus made a full one eighty and people and gun experts quickly figured out that new Taurus guns were actually matching Glocks pound for pound. With less cost and just as good accuracy, people began to change their minds and bought Taurus instead of Glock. Personally I don't care for glock since it lacks a manual safety. Thank you.
I’ve shot 400 rounds of cheap ammo $2 for 59 rounds of AE. I’ve had no issues and I have not cleaned it or oiled it. Out the box and 400 rounds later and so far so good. I have a Glock 44 on order. I will be extremely disappointed if my Taurus tx22 which I like a lot turns out to be better than my new g44. My tx shoots cheapest to best ammo and that’s what Glock is known for. I’m worried because I’ve herd g44 is picky, so to me it’s not Glock quality. I hope my g44 turns out good.
When you bring up that the little sliver of steel on the Glock slide is better over the aluminum slide of the TX, you need to think about how many old Mossberg 500's there are out there still running after 50+ years, and the same with Beretta and Benelli shotguns with aluminum receivers. Also for me thinking about the NON safety on any .22lr is a bad thing, since a lot of young shooters will be using these, and they ALL need at least the option of a safety. I do not own a gun that does not have a manual safety and never will. I can draw and gun and flip that safety off plenty fast enough. I for one will not have a stare down and fast draw against someone else, so.........
The G44 is not worth it's cost my S&W 422 eats everything I feed it A .22 that won't work reliably with Bulk ammo and requires special magazine loading procedures isn't worth having
Yeah that is 22 ammo for you. In my TX22 and my CP33 I use CCI ammo and they have been very reliable. I would expect the Glock would be as good with CCI ammo or better. Now if it is not....it might end up being a failure. On the other hand...a Glock 19 stand in that has some random failures could be a good thing. I have tried the cheapest crappy 9mm ammo hoping to get failures and it just gobbles up whatever you feed it. Still saying all of that....it is disappointing to think that Taurus and Keltec can make a better 22 than Glock. I almost bought a G44 Saturday for $350....I am glad I didn't now. I will hold off for now, maybe forever👍🇺🇸
Good review. I suppose that the brand would matter if I was a fanboy for either. I'm more concerned with reliability using any ammo and ergonomics than brand name. Everything that I've seen shows that the Taurus wins hands down. Though the steel on the slide might last longer, anywhere that you join different materials is just another point of possible failure.
Took my wife and the TX22 to the range yesterday. She liked it but prefers shooting her old CZ82. Ran perfect. Another channel said the Glock hates 38 grain. For $250 it’s a great deal.
My glock 44 loves and likes high velocity ammo, and when I use CCI stinger, CCI mini mag, and Winchester super x rated over 1280fps I have had no issues. When using low power bulk the glock 44 gives me issues so i just buy the good power 22's rated over 1280fps and no problems because the glock has a rather stiff recoil spring so you need the strong HV ammo to cycle which is what I use.
@@gunsaccessories8853 Ive only shot 370 rounds so far, 5 different brands of ammo. Had 4 failure to eject, but it seemed to be from weak ammo. Other than that it was 100% reliable. I'll be putting a few more hundred rounds through it before the day is over.
Love the the TX22 👀 at the GLOCK and said no thanks . I do have a couple of GLOCKS , But TAURUS has really step up there game . With quality & price . BIG BOYS better watch out. Thanks Ham&egger
I want the g44 to be good but if seen alot of videos of it not being 100% reliable ive seen 2 videos of it not running even with cci standard velocity i can put any ammo in my g17 or g42 never had a problem i love both of them i wanted the 44 for the collection but id be wise to probably skip it
G44 firing pin sleeve will go bad at 2k to 3k rounds. Glock doesn't make that part. Polish that trigger bar up with silver cleaner. That trigger will not drag as much. I like glock. I can't believe they did this..
Own both ... the Glock44 hands down Much Better Pistol! You didn’t mention all the Problems the Taurus TX is having with their barrels,, research and you’ll see their barrels are crap! Drop the slide on the Taurus TX - put your finger tip on the barrel and wiggle it around- poor quality .. as much as 0.025 gap !!! Glock44 shoots much smaller groups... Glock44 wins hands down! Glock will soon have many options for the G44 than Taurus TX will not have..
@@jh8338 Absolutely! Problem is the worst possible leader gets elected with minority popular vote by importing millions of voters into Canada! I REALLY think this TX22 would rock it here. They just need to increase barrel length slightly.
The problem with most of these reviews is the Glock fanboy doing everything they can to apologize for their .22. The Glock .22 is a failure. It's too expensive, it only holds ten rounds, it doesn't have a threaded barrel, it doesn't have decent ergonomics, it has the legendary crappy trigger. The last resort is always, but it's a Glock. Well, that perfection is flawed.
